HILLSIDE HIDEAWAY “It’s an open space, but it’s very private,” Weatherly says of his Hollywood villa. “You feel like you’re tucked away in the hills.”

THE NCIS ACTOR’S LIGHT-FILLED LIVING ROOM FEATURES VAULTED CEILINGS AND A FIREPLACE, PLUS FURNITURE THAT’S KID (AND DOG!) FRIENDLY

“The key is that everything has to be able to get thrown up on or crayoned,” NCIS’s Michael Weatherly says of his pretense-free decorating philosophy. With two dogs and two young kids—Olivia, 3, and Liam, 17 months—“we’re not precious about stuff.” The CBS star, 46, and his wife, Bojana Jankovic, a physician, 34, moved into their four-bedroom, 4,000-sq.-ft. Hollywood home (designed by noted L.A. architect Fred Smathers) shortly after their daughter was born. The major selling point? “It feels warm,” he says. “Not formal, but it can dress up nice.” One of his favorite spaces is the airy living room, which features “impossibly comfortable, marshmallow-like” seating clustered in a “social circle.” And despite all the windows, “it’s not a place that’s about the view,” says the actor. “It’s not showy in that way. It’s about having family and friends together.” —GABRIELLE OLYA

THE CSI: CYBER STAR AND HIS FIANCEE UNWIND IN THEIR REFINED ATLANTA HOME

When Bow Wow—who goes by his given name, Shad Moss, as the star of CBS’s new hit CSI: Cyber—first bought this eightbedroom mansion in suburban Atlanta around 2004, “I had murals of Tupac and Biggie on my walls,” he says. But then his mom, Teresa Caldwell, who also lives there, seized control of the design. “She painted over them!” says Moss, 28. “But it’s all good. She’s knows what she’s doing.” They added a pool and cultivated what Moss describes as a “homey, modern” vibe. As for living with his mother, he says, “I’ve had full-blown house parties downstairs, and she never heard a thing.” The sheer size of the house came in handy when his fiancée, Erica Mena, of VH1’s Love & Hip Hop, moved in last December. “Everything was perfect,” says Mena, 27. “All I had to do was place my shoes where I wanted them and I was home.” —EMILY STROHM

1. SITTING AREA “The energy of the house is so important,” says Moss’s mom. “I wanted the feel to be a mix of Moroccan and modern.” 2. LIVING ROOM “This is where we kick our feet up,” says Mena. “He plays video games or I watch Scandal.”

Jared PADALECKI

‘IT FEELS LIKE I’M A PART OF NATURE,’ SAYS THE SUPERNATURAL STAR OF HIS RUSTIC AUSTIN, TEXAS, HOME

“My dream as a child was literally to grow up and live in Austin, as silly as that sounds,” says Jared Padalecki, who spent his childhood 80 miles away in San Antonio. So when he met his actress wife, Genevieve, 34, on the Vancouver set of the CW’s Supernatural, Padalecki, 32, proposed relocating. “We came and visited one summer, and she’s like, ‘Austin is cool!’” So they snapped up a 10,600-sq.-ft. lodge and guesthouse filled with dark wood. “I love the feeling of an old cabin lodge,” he says. “We bought the place in 2012 and have been making it our own ever since.” While the main house is being remodeled, the family— including sons Thomas, 3, and Shepherd, 1—are bunking in the two-bedroom guesthouse, equipped with an exercise room, home theater and wine cellar. But the actor’s favorite spot is his upstairs office [bottom right]. “When I come here, I pour myself a little bourbon and grab my guitar,” he says. “I’m free of my worldly responsibilities.” —ANA CALDERONE

1. WINE CELLAR “This has been a 10-year passion project,” says Padalecki of the 1,000bottle wine collection he stores in the spacious cellar. “I don’t think of wine as an art, it’s a craft.” 2. HOME OFFICE “This is my first stop when I get home,” he says of the room scattered with memorabilia (like his four People’s Choice Awards). “When I’m not working, I want to be relaxed.”

HILARY DUFF

THE FORMER TWEEN QUEEN GETS GROWN-UP BUZZ FOR HER TV COMEDY. BUT HER FAVORITE COSTAR IS HER 3-YEAR-OLD SON

BY AILI NAHAS

Hilary Duff was ready to mix it up. Last month she took stock of her signature blonde locks and temporarily dyed them a brilliant turquoise. “I was a little scared at first,” Duff says, relaxing on the couch in her Beverly Hills home. “But I just wanted to have a little fun.” And after a roller-coaster year that saw her land a new sitcom, record a new album, end her marriage to hockey player Mike Comrie and focus on raising their son Luca, 3, she’s earned it. “I went through my highs and lows,” she says of the big shifts in her life, “but at the end of the day, I wouldn’t change anything. I feel happy. And I’m excited about everything I have.”

More than 10 years after Lizzie McGuire, the Disney show that rocketed her to tween stardom, went off the air, Duff is back on TV in TV Land’s Younger. This time the actress plays the sassy sidekick to Broadway star Sutton Foster, who stars as a 40-year-old mom posing as a twenty-something to get ahead in a youth-obsessed world. “It’s edgy,” says Duff. “And it’s very fun to play a girl who has this independent life and is able to make mistakes freely, choices I would

From Disney to Daring

1. “People haven’t seen me like this before,” says Duff of her role on Younger. “I have a few pretty naughty moments.” 2. “I’ve always worked like an adult,” says Duff of her days on Lizzie McGuire. “I feel very accomplished, but I want to do much more.”

never make because the world is always watching.” Though the Houston native says her life is “more normal than people think,” she’s had a show-business career since middle school, and that makes it hard to relate to typical millennials. “I’ve felt older than I am for a really long time,” says Duff. “A lot of responsibility came my way early.” Foster agrees: “Hilary is the most mature 27-year-old I’ve ever known. She doesn’t get caught up in celebrity noise.”

Duff was just 22 when she wed Comrie; the pair welcomed Luca less than

‘Fighting two years later. “Maybe I for what makes you happy is really important got married too young,” she says. “But I have always had a strong sense of who I am and what I’m capable of.” When the relationship in life’ didn’t work out, she found a way forward. Duff and Comrie announced their split in January 2014 (see box) but didn’t file for divorce until a year later. “We gave it time to settle because we had a little guy involved, and then we decided, ‘Okay, it’s been a year. Let’s call it.’ ” Despite the emotional upheaval (Duff, who co-parents with Comrie, admits it’s a strange shift to “cook dinner just for me and a 3-year-old”), the star says she’s “just fine.” Says Duff: “I’m not the person to sit around and have a really bad day. I’m not saying I’ve never sat around and cried, but I’d rather get outside in the sunshine.”

Staying positive is part of how she’s survived. Growing up in Hollywood, Duff stayed away from the clubbing and drugging that derailed many of her peers. But she didn’t avoid all of fame’s pitfalls. By her late teens Duff was earning a reported $2 million for films like A Cinderella Story, but offscreen she became “obsessed” with her body image. “I was too thin,” she says now. “That was not a healthy place for me. I remember my hands would cramp because I wasn’t getting enough nutrients.” Now that she’s a mother, Duff embraces her natural frame—flaws and all. “My body is never going to be what it was,” she says of adapting to a post-baby physique. “I have stretch marks, my boobs are different, but I look in the mirror and I’m like, ‘This is what I got.’ I feel fit and strong.”

Stamina comes in handy with a toddler. “We spent the weekend building Lego structures,” Duff says. “There had to be 900 little pieces. I wanted to pull my hair out!” As for the future, she says she’s “open” to dating and hopes for more kids. But whatever happens, she’s learned to handle curveballs. “You can have a vision for how you want things to go,” she says. “But it’s the bumps in the road that make you stronger.”

Inside the Split

“It wasn’t just ‘boom,’ it happened,” says Duff of her decision to separate from Mike Comrie, her husband of over three years, in 2014. “It was just us slowly realizing we weren’t where we used to be.” Duff calls reconciliation buzz, sparked when the pair were often photographed together postseparation, “annoying.” Says Duff: “Luca is our No. 1 priority—we made a promise to raise him together. I’m really proud of how we handled it.” And the star looks back on her marriage with fondness. “We wrap a lot of respect around it,” Duff says. “And a bow on top with the memories we had together.”

LEGAL NOTICE If you own or owned property with windows made by MI Windows, you may qualify for benefits from a class action settlement.

File an online claim now at www.MIWDTapeGlazedWindowSettlement.com

Para una notificación en Español, llamar o visitar nuestro website.

A proposed Settlement has been reached with MI Windows and Doors, LLC (“MIWD”) relating to tape glazed windows manufactured by MIWD between July 1, 2000 and March 31, 2010. The lawsuit alleged water leakage and resulting damage to Class Members’ windows and property. MIWD denies the allegations and there has been no determination of wrongdoing by the Court.

Who is included?

The Settlement includes both homeowners and contractors who own or owned a home or other structure with the included MIWD windows. A complete list of the windows covered by the Settlement can be viewed at www.MIWDTapeGlazedWindowSettlement.com. The website has photographs and detailed instructions on how to identify if your windows are part of the Settlement.

What does the Settlement provide?

If you have windows that are included in the Settlement, you may be able to make a claim for money, repair service or other benefits. The amount you may make a claim for will depend on a number of factors, including (1) the number of affected windows, (2) whether water leaked, causing a visible residue line, water staining or additional property damage, and (3) whether you previously paid money for certain repairs. Class Members may be able to receive monetary compensation plus replacement window sashes and repairs. The Settlement creates several categories of benefits. Visit the website for detailed information.

How do I make a Claim?

You can file an online claim now at the website. You can also download a paper Claim Form at the website or request one by calling the toll-free number below. There are multiple claim categories with different deadlines. The earliest deadline is October 26, 2015.

Your other options.

If you do not want to be legally bound by the Settlement, you must exclude yourself from the Class by May 28, 2015, or you will not be able to sue MIWD about the legal claims the Settlement resolves, ever again. If you exclude yourself, you cannot get money or other benefits from the Settlement. If you stay in the Class, you may object to it by June 1, 2015. The detailed notice available on the website explains how to exclude yourself or object. The Court will hold a hearing, on June 30, 2015, to consider whether to approve the Settlement, and a request by Class Counsel for attorneys’ fees, costs, and expenses of no more than $9,045,000 and incentive awards for the Class Representatives of $5,000. You or your own lawyer, if you have one, may ask to appear and speak at the hearing at your own cost, but you do not have to.

LIFE WITH CHARLIE The actress in 1966 with her father, ventriloquist Edgar Bergen, and the dummy she hated. “It’s like, ‘If I just squeeze a little harder . . .’” Bergen says.

MY LIFE in PICTURES

THE FORMER MURPHY BROWN STAR OPENS UP ABOUT LOVE, FAME, BEAUTY—AND WHY SHE’S NO DIETER BY KIM HUBBARD

Like her alter ego in the hit ’90s sitcom Murphy Brown, Candice Bergen has a quick wit and a tart tongue. Reminiscing over photos at her daughter’s Manhattan home, the actress stops on a picture of Charlie McCarthy, her ventriloquist dad’s famous dummy. “Charlie was like a god in our house,” she says. “As a sibling rivalry it has no parallels. Now he’s in the Smithsonian.” Does she ever go to see him? Bergen raises an eyebrow. “No!” she replies. “Do I seem insane?”

What she seems is remarkably levelheaded. Raised among Hollywood royalty and renowned for her Nordic beauty, she won roles in dramatic classics like Carnal Knowledge before finding her niche as a comic actress (she’s hosted SNL five times). “My dad said beautiful women commit suicide and I should develop my interests,” she says. Now 68, she talks freely about plastic surgery (“I’m clearly in need, but I just don’t care enough”) and the 30-lb. weight gain she cops to in her new memoir A Fine Romance (“I refuse to deprive myself”). Still acting occasionally, she finds joy in life with second husband Marshall Rose, 78, a real estate developer; in Chloe, 29, the daughter she had with her first husband, director Louis Malle; and in her rich store of memories. “I’m the only one that has such weird family photos,” she says, rolling her eyes at another Charlie McCarthy shot. “I take great pride in that.”
