Schools are built on generations of care and support. It is impossible to properly acknowledge all the past generations that have helped make Lawrence Academy a great and lasting hillside presence — but it is possible to thank our alumni, parents, and friends in this moment for the tangible care and support that has so forcefully impacted present students and faculty at LA. Thank you for your participation and for supporting the school through the infinite gestures of conviction that bring our mission to life on a daily basis. The LA Fund is the tangible manifestation of that conviction, the direct link between philanthropic support and the lived experience of our students and faculty. For some (through the LA Fund for financial aid), it makes the very possibility of an LA education a reality. For others, it provides opportunities for nuanced professional growth. For others still, it offers that extra program, activity, or moment of immersion that helps an educational experience become a timeless life experience.

Each year, Lawrence Academy recognizes outstanding students, alumni, faculty, and staff for their contributions to the school, the local community, and the global community. This year, these awards were proudly presented to the following recipients:

Our newly deployed strategic plan creates images of that future through compelling words and pictures, but it is the way in which the closest friends and family of LA affirm and enact that future that matters most. At a recent alumni gathering, I described the ways in which we can imagine our future together as a series of real and imagined landscapes: places of the earth, the mind, and the human experience that bind generations together with a sense of mission and meaning — all forcefully grounded in our vibrant, beautiful campus.

As the substance of your generosity is gratefully acknowledged and reported here, so may the spirit of your generosity be recognized in our shared vision of the future and the school’s execution towards these fulfilled and fulfilling missions. Thank you for your leadership, and for providing an example of how faith in a school can move it and its mission forward in dramatic ways. We have literally built new homes, new paths, and new learning experiences at Lawrence Academy from the raw materials of bold philanthropic support. Endowment funds have built programs that bring talented professionals into our midst. Recent Senior Parent Gift initiatives have transformed the landscape beneath our feet. The Lawrence House renovation is providing a new model and quality for the living that is central to learning in this 24/7 setting. Planned and estate gifts, beyond prudent financial planning, are gestures connecting a past and a future.
