April is National Poetry Month Launched by the Academy of American Poets in 1996, National Poetry Month reminds us that poetry matters and that poets have an important role to play in our culture. Over the years, it has become one of the largest literary celebrations in the world, with tens of millions of readers, students, teachers, librarians, booksellers, publishers, families and, of course, poets marking poetry’s important place in our lives.
