Letter from the President:
A REFLECTION
The pages ahead tell a powerful story not simply of what Lausanne accomplished during the 2025-2026 school year but of the people whose commitment, generosity and service made those accomplishments possible. Throughout this report, you will discover stories of inspiration and achievement from across Lausanne’s community. You’ll see how our students are putting their values into action through meaningful service to bring about positive change. You’ll also learn more about the continued progress of The Campaign for Best, the exciting work still ahead and the remarkable philanthropic support strengthening Lausanne today and for generations to come. We are especially proud to recognize the generous donors who supported Lausanne through both the Lausanne Community Fund and The Campaign for Best. Every contribution represents a belief in our mission and an investment in our students, faculty and school. The giving highlighted in this report is impressive, but its true significance is found in the opportunities it creates, the lives it influences and the future it helps secure. Lausanne’s Board of Trustees is privileged to help steward Lausanne’s mission and long-term vision during such an important period in the school’s history. We approach that responsibility with gratitude, purpose and tremendous confidence in the direction of our school. The dedication of Lausanne’s leadership, faculty and staff – combined with the extraordinary support of our families, alumni and friends – continues to move our community forward. I hope this report provides you with an opportunity to reflect on an exceptional year and to share in the pride we feel for our extraordinary school. More importantly, I hope the stories and accomplishments within these pages inspire continued enthusiasm for all that lies ahead. Thank you for the many ways you support our students, advance our mission and strengthen the Lausanne community. This progress belongs to all of us, and our future is brighter because we’re building it together.

AWARDS & HONORS The Lausanne Way Award The Lausanne Way award is presented annually to an individual who serves as a powerful inspiration to our community through actions which embody the core values of The Lausanne Way. On September 17, The Lausanne Way Award was presented to Dee Dixon Buhr ’74, a wonderfully proud Lausanne alumna, former trustee, current Alumni Board member, Walter Coppedge Heritage Society member and tireless Lausanne cheerleader. Without Dee’s time, energy and passion, our school would not be the success it is today, and we are incredibly grateful to call her a Lynx.
DEE DIXON BUHR ’74
Young Alumni Panel On January 12, Lausanne hosted the 2026 Young Alumni Panel, bringing together seven extraordinary graduates with a wide range of voices spanning elite academics, collegiate athletics, law, leadership and public service. Panelists offered current students a firsthand look at the many challenges that await them after graduation by sharing insight into their experiences with navigating college academics, finding their footing in competitive environments and everything in between. Following the Q&A, Upper School students received the opportunity to network with their fellow Lynx. An annual testament to the phrase “Always a Lynx,” this event highlights one of Lausanne’s greatest strengths – the bond between its graduates and the school that helped shape them.

JASON SUSSER ’07
Chair of Ideas
Commencement Speaker
One of the school's most prestigious honors, the title of Chair of Ideas has been awarded 27 times since 1994 to Lausanne alumni and other distinguished individuals, continuing a tradition that began with the school's Distinguished Speaker Series in the 1960s during which individuals such as Margaret Mead, William F. Buckley, B.F. Skinner and Aldous Huxley spoke to our students.
On May 23, Lausanne had the honor of welcoming Jason Susser ’07 as the Class of 2026 Commencement Speaker. A partner at Siskind Susser, Co-Founder and Chief Legal Officer of Visalaw.ai, published author and nationally recognized leader in immigration law and legal technology, Jason has built an incredible career at the intersection of law, entrepreneurship and artificial intelligence.
On March 2, this honor was bestowed upon Jonathan Campbell ’99, who spoke with Upper School students about his career journey from his time at the FCC to his current role at Samsung, sharing insights on internet safety, cybersecurity and the rapid evolution of AI. After speaking, he joined in on Cybersecurity and AI Innovation classes, engaging directly with students in conversations about the future into which they are stepping.
But his message to the Class of 2026 did not focus on awards, titles or accomplishments. In fact, Jason opened his remarks by reminding us that he was once voted “Most Likely to Rob a Bank,” joking that his classmates assumed he was far more likely to hire a lawyer than become one. Through stories of culinary school, working in restaurants, discovering his passion for law as a paralegal and ultimately finding his path, Jason shared a powerful reminder – the person you are today is not the person you have to be tomorrow.
A proud Lynx since seventh grade, Jonathan embraced the full Lausanne experience by participating in everything from SGA and Odyssey of the Mind to theatre and varsity soccer, and he credits those experiences with building the confidence and adaptability that shaped his path. During his visit, he took the time to encourage students to stay well-rounded and curious, to say ‘yes’ to opportunities and to avoid limiting themselves.
He also spoke about the unconditional love and support he received from family, teachers and mentors and encouraged graduates to embrace change, continue growing and never allow a single moment to define their future.

As a Lausanne family, we give because we believe exceptional educators shape extraordinary futures. Looking ahead to Lausanne’s next 100 years, we envision a continued legacy of educational excellence – one that inspires students to become scientists, innovators and leaders who solve humanity’s greatest challenges, including finding cures for diseases like cancer and Alzheimer’s.

We’ve been part of the Lausanne family for the past seven years and could not imagine being anywhere else! We initially chose Lausanne because of the robust learning environment and diverse student population – which are both extremely important to us – but quickly found so much more. The teacher/staff support, extracurricular activities and personal growth opportunities are endless. We support Lausanne with our dollars and our time because we wholeheartedly believe in its mission ‘to prepare each of its students for college and for life in a global environment.’ We’re hopeful that the next 100 years are focused on the continued expansion of technology to create fully immersive classrooms which support learning exchanges amongst Lausanne students across the globe. We also foresee Lausanne guiding its students to lean into fostering a more sustainable environment and adapting to emerging sports, arts and music programs. Through increased partnerships with community organizations, local and global corporations, the future is bright!

Stories
One of the greatest strengths of Lausanne’s International Baccalaureate Programme is that learning never stops – even for our educators.
22
As an IB World School offering the full continuum from Pre-K through Grade 12, Lausanne is committed to ensuring that every student benefits from an education that reflects the latest best practices, innovative teaching strategies and evolving standards established by the International Baccalaureate Organization. That commitment begins with continuous professional learning. This year, Assistant Head of Lower School Erica McBride, MYP Coordinator Michelle Spain, DP Coordinator Wade Linebaugh and Academic Dean Stephen Campbell attended national and regional IB conferences designed to equip school leaders with the latest developments across the Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP). The conferences brought together IB educators from around the world to explore emerging practices, collaborate with colleagues and gain insight into programme enhancements that strengthen student learning. Faculty attended sessions focused on inclusion, curriculum development, assessment and the future of the IB. They gained early insight into upcoming curriculum revisions, new course offerings and the continued rollout of IB digital examinations, allowing Lausanne to prepare for changes well before they are implemented. The conferences also provided ideas that are already influencing work on campus, including enhancements to the Theory of Knowledge (TOK) and plans for a schoolwide TOK Book Club

designed to deepen faculty engagement with IB philosophy across all divisions. Conference learning is just one piece of Lausanne's ongoing investment in IB professional development. PYP Coordinator Joy Stephens and Lower School teacher Morgan Juranek have completed IB professional learning courses that deepen their understanding of inquiry-based instruction, transdisciplinary learning and the philosophy that guides the PYP. Their ongoing coursework helps ensure that Lausanne's youngest learners experience an engaging, purposeful and authentic IB education from the very beginning of their academic journey. Together, these professional learning opportunities reflect Lausanne's belief that exceptional student experiences begin with exceptional educators. By investing in the growth of the faculty members who guide the IB continuum, Lausanne continues to strengthen every stage of the programme while remaining at the forefront of curriculum development. That commitment ensures students benefit from an innovative, forward-thinking IB education that prepares them to think critically, lead with confidence and thrive in an ever-changing world. n 23

For Sophie Rush '25 (pictured), her first year as a Division I soccer player at New Mexico State University brought both adversity and triumph. As she works her way back from an ACL injury and prepares to begin nursing school, she's gained a new appreciation for resilience and the relationships that continue to make Lausanne feel like home. Currently studying sports communication at the University of Alabama, Bentley Culbreth '24 is already gaining hands-on experience in local television, sharpening the storytelling skills that will one day carry her into sports broadcasting. Along the way, she's found that the adaptability, teamwork

and perseverance she developed as a Lausanne student and state championship cheerleader have become just as valuable behind the camera as they were on the sidelines. At Tulane University, Lee Harris '23 has embraced every challenge that's come his way. A rising senior, Harris has earned All-Conference honors in track and field and has made the Dean's List every semester. After taking up track during his senior year at Lausanne, he now encourages others to remain open to unexpected opportunities. Remi Schaber '22 continues to represent Lausanne and the United States on one of the biggest stages in baseball. This summer, she earned her fourth selection to the USA Baseball Women's National Team, adding another chapter to an already remarkable journey which began on Lausanne's baseball field. Her continued success is a testament to years of dedication, courage and a passion for the game. Their stories are different, but they share a crucial common thread – a willingness to keep growing, keep learning and keep saying ‘yes’ to what's next. n 25
Stories CAMPUS
Second-grade innovators welcomed family members and fellow Lynx into their classrooms to showcase the robots they designed, engineered and programmed as the culmination of their computer science unit. Colorful robots certainly stole the show, but the real story was everything the students learned along the way. What began with the basics of coding quickly grew into a hands-on challenge which combined engineering, creativity, collaboration and problem-solving. Over the course of several weeks, students explored the fundamentals of computer science, discovering how coding provides the precise instructions that allow technology to perform specific tasks. Working in teams, they brainstormed ideas, tested solutions, refined their designs and learned that the best innovation often results from persistence and multiple rounds of problem-solving. Using LEGO Education SPIKE kits, iPads and Bluetooth technology, each group programmed its robot to complete a designated task by applying the coding concepts they had practiced throughout the unit. To bring their projects to life, students also designed detailed backdrops and formulated original stories which gave each robot a unique purpose. Experiences like these are just the beginning of Lausanne's STEAM journey. By developing computational thinking, collaboration and design skills at an early age, students are better prepared to take on the more advanced robotics, engineering and design challenges that await them in the years ahead, building confidence with every project along the way. n 26

I love taking Disney cruises when we can, spending time together and visiting family. Sometimes life turns out nothing like you expect but exactly the way you need in order to help you become a better version of yourself! I’m so grateful for the beautiful experiences and blessings life has given me.
Vaishali Keshani Sheikh ’08 Charlotte, NC
Life since Lausanne: Since Lausanne, I graduated from the University of Tennessee Knoxville with an MS in public health nutrition, completed my dietetic internship and became a registered dietitian. I got married in 2015 and worked in a large hospital as a clinical dietitian for four years. I found that I loved the critical care and oncology units. During this time, I decided to specialize in nutrition support and oncology nutrition by taking and passing specialty exams. After I had my first child, I received the opportunity to work in outpatient oncology and have been working at a cancer institute as an outpatient oncology dietitian for the past eight years. I work with patients with any diagnosis of cancer and cover the radiation oncology clinic as well as bone marrow transplant programs. I’ve also volunteered in different ways in my profession, including serving on the committee for the national oncology nutrition certification exam, helping to edit and write exam questions with nine other dietitians across the country. My husband and I have three children – an 8-year-old girl, 6-year-old boy and 3-year-old girl with Down syndrome. Our youngest daughter completely changed the trajectory of my life (for the better) – her Down syndrome diagnosis and heart defect were a complete surprise 24 hours after her otherwise routine pregnancy and delivery. After a challenging first year of medical battles including open heart surgery at five months old, she’s doing well with a wonderful team of doctors and therapists and spreading joy everywhere she goes. She has taught me and our entire family so much just by being exactly who she was meant to be. She has turned me into a passionate advocate for individuals with disabilities – so much so that I started a first-of-itskind disability group at a local mosque in Charlotte. My family and 36
What’s your favorite Lausanne memory? I have so many fun memories from my time at Lausanne. I loved all my teachers so much, learned a lot and cherished the close-knit environment. My husband got to visit campus at my 10-year reunion and joked that it felt like Hogwarts! I agreed – it was magical in that way. I graduated in 2008 but remember so many things like Senior Banquet at the Elvis Presley Automobile Museum, the classrooms above Norfleet Gym, wondering why I signed up for AP Chemistry, field trips and simple things like lunchtime with friends. I loved my time at Lausanne!
How has Lausanne impacted your life? Lausanne has impacted my life through lasting friendships, teachers that I continued sending updates to years after graduation, knowledge that made college and grad school easier and by providing a foundation for me to continue to grow into my potential over the years. Each year, even though we live in different cities, I still meet up with one of my friends from third grade, and our kids are now becoming friends. It's the most beautiful thing. Just last month, we met up in Memphis, and I reminisced on how I joined Lausanne at the age my oldest daughter is now – 8-years-old, entering third grade – and new to Memphis.
What would you like to see from Lausanne's next 100 years? I hope Lausanne continues to be the special place it was – a close-knit environment for students to be themselves, emphasizing the individual and helping each student thrive in their own way. I’d love to see an emphasis on support for students with disabilities – inclusion is a big focus of mine now, and I’d love to see the place I grew up become a leader in this.
How has Lausanne impacted your life?
James Babb ’17 Clearwater, FL
Life since Lausanne: Life since Lausanne has been full of learning and growing beyond my once-comfortable environment. Mr. McCathie always told us to stay curious, and that's something I've continued to practice in both my personal and professional life. In May 2025, I married the love of my life, Stephanie, and have continued to learn so much about her family's Brazilian culture. On the professional side, I've worked my way up to Operations Manager at Builders First Source, where I oversee daily operations such as safety compliance, order fulfillment and location finances. In early 2025, I also started my own personal training business, Babb Fitness, and have steadily grown a respectable reputation for training local middle school, high school and collegiate athletes out of my own garage. As new life challenges continue to present themselves, I approach each opportunity with an open mind and a willingness to dive into the unknown.
Lausanne laid the foundation for how I approach life each day. The people, the teachers, the coaches – everyone played a part in my development. Whether it was practicing time management by balancing school and athletics, learning to bring a curious mindset to new settings and opportunities or just approaching each day with a positive attitude and greeting someone with a hug and a smile, Lausanne's people taught me more than books ever could.
What would you like to see from Lausanne's next 100 years? There is no limit to what Lausanne is capable of over the next 100 years. As I look back and marvel over what’s already been accomplished, I can’t help but feel excited about all that lies ahead. I’d love to see Lausanne continue leading the local community, impacting more families across the city by providing resources and opportunities to those wanting better opportunities for the future. I’m also excited to watch Lausanne continue investing – in our facilities, in our academic, athletic and arts programming and in each other. Lausanne’s people are what have made us the best over the last 100 years, and it’ll be our people that push us forward over the next 100. Lynx 4 Lyfe!
What’s your favorite Lausanne memory? My favorite Lausanne memory has to be my senior year as a whole – it was such a memorable time to be part of the Lausanne family. From the very beginning, during the senior breakfast and drivethrough, our class knew we were part of something special. From winning Lausanne’s first football state championship and a second boys' basketball state championship to ending the year with track and soccer bringing home their own titles, it was truly lightning in a bottle and, in my opinion, the golden year to be a Lynx.

Life since Lausanne: Since Lausanne, I’ve had the chance to follow my interests in a few different directions. I studied operations research and financial engineering at Princeton University and recently finished my PhD in biostatistics at Harvard University. After graduate school, I stuck around Boston as a postdoctoral research fellow at Massachusetts General Hospital and the Broad Institute, where I develop statistical models to better understand how genetics shape disease risk and health outcomes. Outside of work, I enjoy playing badminton, cooking and exploring new places around the city.
Tony Chen ’16 Cambridge, MA
What’s your favorite Lausanne memory? I have many happy memories from my time at Lausanne, but one of my favorites is winning the Tennessee Science Bowl and getting to travel to DC for the national competition. Shout to my teammates – Ted Letsou, Prashanth Raj, Raghav Ranga and Rishab Jain – and of course, our fearless coach, Mark Page!

Lausanne inspired me to explore, help others and dream big. After graduating, I attended Tulane University, where I found my calling in helping the government work more efficiently with several jobs in post-Katrina New Orleans. I then went on to grad school at Princeton University, where I studied public policy and met my husband, Will. Inspired by my love for the Spanish language at Lausanne, I spent time living in Granada and Barcelona, Spain. I worked in federal government spanning housing, education and economic growth at various locations including Memphis City Hall for Mayor Wharton and the White House. I've since been at McKinsey & Company, a consulting firm, where I'm now a senior partner helping city and state governments and federal agencies in the US solve big problems while also working with governments abroad. Will and I have three children, Vivi (4), Elio (2) and Lily (11 weeks), and after living in Key West and New Orleans, we are back in DC, living on the water at the Wharf.
How has Lausanne impacted your life? Lausanne helped shape both my curiosity and the way I connect with the people around me. I had wonderful teachers who made learning fun and encouraged me to challenge myself as well as amazing classmates who kept me grounded and made my time at school so special, both in and out of the classroom. I never would have expected to end up working in biomedical research, but I get to draw on many of the foundations I built at Lausanne, from math and science to writing and public speaking. Science is also very much a team effort, and Lausanne taught me early on how much you can learn from working with others, hearing different perspectives and being part of a close-knit community.
What would you like to see from Lausanne's next 100 years? It’s a little hard to imagine what the world will look like 100 years from now, but even while I was a student, Lausanne illustrated its capability of evolving alongside technology and learning opportunities. More than anything, I hope Lausanne continues to provide students the freedom to explore a wide range of interests and build meaningful relationships along the way.
What’s your favorite Lausanne memory?
How has Lausanne impacted your life?
I’m still very close with my best friends from Lausanne – Brittany, Becca, Brand and Mallory – and I love remembering the fun we had across the years: plays in the cafeteria/theater, soccer games where I sometimes came off the bench, playing boys lacrosse, field trips to the National Civil Rights Museum, class trips to Italy and DC, summer camp at the lake, the history fair, Bridge Builders and so much more. I loved my classes and my teachers; especially now, with kids of my own, I look back with so much appreciation for Lausanne, starting with the Cottage and all the teachers who changed my life over the years.
Lausanne made me curious, open and confident and instilled within me a love of learning.
What would you like to see from Lausanne's next 100 years? I’d love to see Lausanne continue to build community, inspire through great teaching and show everyone how important it is to give back.

Letter from the Headmaster: ONWARD The 2025-2026 school year was remarkable, filled with meaningful accomplishments by our incredible students and faculty, continued growth and inspiring moments throughout our school’s truly global community. As proud as we are of all that's been achieved, we’re equally energized by what lies ahead. This year, we celebrate the opening of Lausanne’s new Upper School and Arts Wing, a transformational addition designed to match the excellence, creativity and ambition of the people who bring our campus to life. These new spaces represent more than the growth of our facilities – they reflect our commitment to providing an innovative learning environment where students and faculty can genuinely thrive. And our progress continues! Lower School is already benefiting from expanded space, and looking ahead to the 2027-2028 school year, Lausanne will open a completely transformed Middle School, thereby creating another dynamic setting for learning, connection and discovery. Together, these projects mark an extraordinary period in our school’s history and demonstrate the strength of our shared vision for Lausanne’s future. That vision is becoming a reality because our community believes in it. The generosity, advocacy and enthusiasm of our families, alumni, faculty, staff, trustees and friends have made this progress possible. Your continued partnership will be crucial as we build upon this momentum and create new opportunities for generations of Lausanne students to come. We have much to celebrate from the past year and even more to anticipate in the year ahead – Lausanne’s centennial. Thank you for believing in our mission, supporting our students and helping shape the Lausanne of tomorrow. I am deeply grateful to be sharing this exciting chapter with you.

The Campaign for Best is transforming Lausanne’s campus and expanding what’s possible for each and every student.
A Vision Brought to Life Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of our community, Lausanne’s new Upper School and Arts Wing opened its doors at the start of the 2026-2027 school year. This monumental opening represents a defining step forward in the fulfillment of a vision held by those who believe deeply in our students, our educators and our future. Every space reflects Lausanne’s commitment to providing an innovative, globally minded education, with flexible classrooms, advanced science labs, dedicated arts spaces, collaborative student and faculty areas and an enhanced college advising center creating new opportunities for students to discover their passions and prepare for all that comes next. The opening of the new Upper School and Arts Wing creates truly meaningful benefits throughout our entire campus, as older students moving into their new home has created additional space for Lausanne’s youngest learners to absorb. This renewed flexibility will allow our Lower School programs to grow, evolve and better meet the needs of students during their foundational years. And this is only the beginning...

The Next Chapter Progress continues with plans for a fully transformed Middle School, scheduled to open for the 2027-2028 school year. Designed specifically for this important intermediate stage of development, the new Middle School will feature flexible classrooms, dynamic student gathering areas, dedicated spaces for the arts and innovation and environments that foster connection, curiosity and belonging. Students will be encouraged to explore new interests, take meaningful academic risks and build the confidence needed for a successful transition into Upper School.
Momentum Made Possible by You Our community has already helped turn an ambitious vision into a campus transformation – the new Upper School stands as a powerful testament to what we can accomplish together. Now, continued donor support remains essential in carrying that momentum forward and bringing the new Middle School – and the full vision of The Campaign for Best – to life. Every gift helps create an educational environment worthy of Lausanne’s exceptional students and faculty, today and for generations to come. Thanks to you, Lausanne’s future is no longer something we simply imagine – it’s taking shape all around us. Together, we’re building Lausanne’s very best future.
