Monthly. Brand Guide

Page 1

A Monthly endeavor There are women and girls who cannot afford feminine hygiene products along with other expenses such as food or rent. Because of this, many go without sanitary products or opt instead for makeshift alternatives; opening the possibility for infection. They often miss school or work when they are on their period and some girls drop out of school altogether. Monthly. believes that no woman should have to choose between whether she is going to eat or have access to the proper sanitary products. No girl should have to place her education on hold because she cannot afford feminine hygiene products.

It’s not a luxury, it’s a necessity Monthly. is a non-profit organization that delivers feminine hygiene products to homeless shelters, and poverty-stricken and low-income areas in north and central Texas to women and girls who can not afford them. Our mission is to provide women and girls in in impoverished areas with feminine hygiene products and provide education on menstrual health to prevent unsanitary practices. Our vision is to create a stigma-free environment for women and girls to be comfortable in their bodies.

Supporting the girls Monthly. strictly serves women and girls in low-income and poverty-stricken areas and homeless shelters who are in need of female hygiene products. Monthly. is the only non-profit with a truck that travels to different locations in north and central Texas at scheduled times each month.

Style Inspiration The design direction for Monthly. was rounded handwritten typography and a muted warm color scheme to give the brand a welcoming and relatable feeling among the target audience, while still maintaining a clean look. We did not want to alienate our target audience by creating a brand that came off as out of their price range.

Logo Process The ideation for the logo began with a dot, circles, and hand-written type in order to create a playful and light atmosphere for the subject matter. Upon digitizing, the logo took a cleaner and more mature look while still maintaining its playful nature.

Logo The final logo is the organization’s name in an organic dot. The name has a crisp but still organic feel to the hand-written lettermark. The letters fit together with each other in a playful and inviting way. The style of the dot reflects the organic hand-written nature of the typographic style of the name. The tagline is simple in that it addresses menstruation as a natural experience. It also serves to counter the stigma that it is not natural and that a woman who experiences it has a health issue.

Logo environment/color The primary logo can be placed on dark or light colored backgrounds and images with a black overlay of 14% or a white overlay of 70%. The secondary logo is to be in pink color placed only on light colored backgrounds or images with a white overlay of 70%.

Typography/Color Questrial typeface provides an open and clean look to balance the organic handmade lettering of the logo with a fun personality. Univers LT Std, used for body copy, is a san-serif typeface that supplements Questrial.

Imagery Imagery depicting women and girls as happy, comfortable, strong, or in a positive manner are to be used. No images of women engaging in activity that our target audience cannot afford to participate in.

Business Stationary Business cards and organization stationary are used to reach out to potential donors and shelters in the area. The layout is simple as not to clutter the content of the letter, but the use of the primary logo allows for it to stand out in a cluttered pile of papers. The business cards are also handed out to those who Monthly. serves. The die-cut business card creates a fun and interesting alternative to the standard business card that will stick out in the memory of the recipients.

Collateral Monthly. employee uniforms are the organization’s t-shirts. Monthly. also offers the t-shirt or canvas bag as a small gift for those who donate over a certain amount of sanitary products or money to the organization.

Packaging The donated supplies are packaged in a simple box displaying the organization’s logo and tagline that allows the recipients to easily carry their products home with them. Women and girls have their choice between pads and tampons of different sizes that best suit their cycle.

Brochure Monthly. hands out brochures discussing proper menstrual health, addresses questions, and tackles myths surrounding menstruation with every box of sanitary products.

Truck Design The Monthly. truck is white with the organization’s logo and tagline. The truck has a rounded shape to establish a more friendly environment for those that Monthly. serves.

Website Design Monthly. keeps potential donors, shelters, and women in need up to date on our progress fighting against period poverty on our website. Donate to the cause or find out when our truck stops by you online or by phone.
