Draken’s Electronic Warfare Academy provides comprehensive, integrated training that uses advanced technology and real-world operational experience to help military forces stay ahead of evolving threats in the electromagnetic spectrum.

Our approach is rooted in the ‘Red Queen Hypothesis’, which emphasises constant adaptation to survive against ever-evolving adversaries.

Draken’s services, trusted by more than 25 NATO nations and allied partners each year, help military forces in the air, land, and maritime domains to be ready to fight — and to win.

Successful EW Academy graduates think critically as Electronic Warfare practitioners. They interpret the electromagnetic environment, understand radar and missile system behaviour, analyse threat systems within an IADS, and apply this knowledge to enhance operational effectiveness, survivability, and decision-making in modern air warfare.

Launching in 2026, Draken's EW Academy delivers scalable academic training. Course structures are adaptable in line with students’ levels of knowledge, but our syllabus includes:

• Story-based historical and operational context.

• Foundation, Advanced, and EW Analysis courses (3 days to 3 weeks).

• Focus on modern EW including Lethality at Range, Counter-Counter Measures, and Information Superiority.

• Practical pedagogy, outcome-based learning, synthetic environments.

Draken’s EW Academy provides a comprehensive foundation in EW, radar theory, air defence systems, and threat analysis, building a progressive understanding of how the electromagnetic spectrum underpins modern military operations. The fundamentals of our training are based on the three pillars of EW:

ELECTRONIC SUPPORT 1

Identifying and locating victim radars and radio frequencies.

Lessons on Electronic Support (ES) describe passive detection, interception, and analysis of electromagnetic emissions, highlighting how ES provides threat warning, emitter identification, and situational awareness.

ELECTRONIC ATTACK 2

Delivering jamming and other offensive EW effects.

In Pillar 2, our Electronic Attack (EA) lessons introduce jamming, deception, and electromagnetic attack effects, explaining how an adversary’s own radars and communications can be denied or manipulated.

ELECTRONIC PROTECTION 3

Our service challenges a force’s ability to protect its own systems.

Our Electronic Protection (EP) learning complements Pillars 1 and 2 by focusing students’ learning on methods to preserve friendly use of the EM spectrum through hardening, EMCON, and the latest counter-EA techniques.

EW learning that is fully aligned to Draken’s Red Force.

Draken’s EW Academy provides an adaptable, tiered learning programme directly linked to the live, hostile scenariobased training environment delivered through our Red Force services. The structured approach to learning and development comes straight from the proven, trusted operator of world-class EW live training.

Draken leverages more than 40 years of experience in delivering Red Air and Electronic Warfare services to inform its new Electronic Warfare Academy offerings.

The aim of the academy is to produce exceptional EW practitioners. By offering high-quality, competencybased training products, Draken ensures academy graduates are not only mission-ready for large force exercises but prepared to excel during real-world operational situations.

Today

Draken offers a flexible, deployable EW Academy service to meet customer needs either at their own location or at the training centre in our UK headquarters at Bournemouth Airport.

Tomorrow

A permanent and dedicated EW Academy facility is planned for completion in the UK in the near future. Co-located in the UK at our Teesside AdAir ‘centre of excellence’, this facility wil place students at the heart of our European EW operations.
