Jordan Allen and The Bellwethers: LIVE in Concert Thursday, November 2nd • 6-7:30pm Location: Auditorium NO REGISTRATION
Jordan Allen & the Bellwethers can be best described as “Southern Rock meets the Appalachian Mountains.” Their music focuses on telling stories and is accented with catchy riff writing to create a unique musical experience. They have been performing as Jordan Allen & the Bellwethers since May of 2013. Over the years, the style of music has changed, but one thing has always stayed constant: the band’s attention to songwriting. In 2016, their song “The Wanderer” took home the overall winner at The Richard Leigh Songwriters Festival song contest. The band’s front man, Jordan, has been included on the writer’s night roster at the Historic Bluebird Cafe in Nashville, Tennessee since February of 2017.
Our Veterans Their Stories: Series IV Monday, November 6th • 6-7pm Location: Auditorium NO REGISTRATION
This oral history project by the Laurel County Public Library, collects and preserves veterans’ stories for current and future generations. Our goal is to share the human impact. We’re focusing on the individuals instead of specific battles or wars. We want you to see their faces, hear their stories, and gain knowledge from their experiences. The featured veterans for this series are: Thomas Crowl, Victor Edwards, Glen Hinkle, Dan Lisowe, and Juanita and Roger Wells.
Operation Christmas Cards for our Troops November 1st - 14th Location: Lobby NO REGISTRATION
Send a smile to our deployed troops this holiday season. Cards are available at the library or you can create and bring your own. All cards must be dropped off by November 14th in order to have them mailed in time. Tips for submitting cards from the United Soldiers and Sailors of America: •
Please send the card only – no envelopes, keep the envelopes for your personal use.

If you are making Christmas cards, do NOT use glitter or any other product that could come loose.

Personal messages of peace and good-will as well as ‘Thank You For Your Service’ can be written in the cards. Feel free to use religious or nonreligious Christmas cards, we leave that up to the individual and we respect both.

London Community Orchestra Monday, November 13th • 6-7pm Location: Auditorium NO REGISTRATION
To celebrate the London Community Orchestra and to promote the upcoming season, several musicians from the orchestra will present a wonderful evening of music. This informal program, featuring a variety of musical styles, will be performed by orchestra members, as soloists and in small groups.

A riveting, lucid memoir of a young woman’s struggle to regain her sense of self after trauma, and the efforts by a powerful New England boarding school to silence her–at any cost.
Author Karen Abney & Folk Artists Lonnie & Twyla Money: 50 Years of Kentucky Appalachian Folk Art Monday, November 20th • 6-7:30pm Location: Auditorium NO REGISTRATION
Author and book designer, Karen Abney, will share her journey as a first-time published writer and what motivated her to document the story of these two iconic Kentucky folk artists. Lonnie and Twyla Money will share their unique experiences. Afterwards, attendees will have a chance to delve deeper into the inspirations of these remarkable individuals with a Q&A session. After the event, signed copies of Karen Abney’s book will be available for purchase.
Thanksgiving Dinner Bingo Matinee Movie: Devotion
Wednesday, November 15th • 1-3:30pm Location: Auditorium NO REGISTRATION The inspirational true story of Jesse Brown, the first Black aviator in U.S. Navy history, and his enduring friendship with fellow fighter pilot Tom Hudner. Helping to turn the tide in the most brutal battle in the Korean War, their heroic sacrifices ultimately make them the Navy’s most celebrated wingmen. This movie is rated PG-13.

Lexington Children’s Theatre: A Reluctant Dragon
Thursday, November 16th • 1pm and 6pm Location: Auditorium NO REGISTRATION Diego is a peaceful dragon who wants to paint, read, and have tea. But the villagers’ stereotypes and preconceived notions about dragons cause them to hire Santiago the Warrior to rid themselves of the beast. A young boy named Adrien must find a way to end the conflict and bring about a peaceful solution.
Homeschool Science Fair
Monday, November 20th • 9am-12pm Location: Auditorium NO REGISTRATION The science fair experience is loads of fun that homeschoolers can enjoy, too! If you love science, the Homeschool Science Fair is the place for you. There will be four grade categories: Pre-K-2nd, 3rd-5th, 6th-8th, and 9th-12th, AND three winners within each category! There will also be an overall winner who will take home the BIG TROPHY! All projects will be displayed in the library auditorium for everyone to see. Set up begins at 9am, and judging starts at 10am. The award ceremony will begin at 12pm. You don’t want to miss this event! Entry forms are available in the children’s department.
