Sounds of Summer: A Beach Boys Tribute Saturday, June 2nd • 6-7:30pm Location: Auditorium NO REGISTRATION

Sounds of Summer is comprised of four talented guys based out of Southern Indiana who share a love of 1960’s music and Beach Boys harmonies. Come for a family friendly show that isn’t just fun…it’s FUN, FUN, FUN!!!

ArtWalk 2018

Tuesday, June 12th • 4:30-7:30pm Location: Auditorium NO REGISTRATION ArtWalk is a family event that will showcase local and regional artists who combine astounding visual art with unique craftsmanship. Artists will be demonstrating their skills on-site. If desired, finished items will be available for purchase from the artists. David Hall, the “Saxman” will be providing music throughout the evening, and light refreshments will be provided.

Similar to the Western game of rummy, Mah Jongg is a game of skill, strategy, and calculation that involves a degree of chance. Experienced players, see if the tiles fall your way during a fun evening of play. If you’ve never played, please contact us before attending.

Get Your…Hot Pretzels!

Saturday, June 16th • 11am-12:30pm Location: Community Room REGISTRATION REQUIRED Does the aroma of a warm, buttery, salty, soft pretzel make your mouth water? Learn how to make them during this program led by Trish Caudill, who will provide a step-bystep demonstration that will include helpful tips. A recipe and pretzel sample will be provided.

Diane Vance from the Alzheimer’s Association will present an interactive workshop that focuses on early detection and steps that can be taken after diagnosis.

Peace, Love…Vegan

Certified Diabetic Educator and Nurse Practitioner Veronica Boley will describe the journey she and her husband have taken as they altered their eating choices, and the positive health benefits that have resulted. Practical tips for cooking vegan will be included.

Learn how to utilize your Kindle Fire, iPad, or Android tablet in this informative class, and start reading!

Did you know?

Interlibrary Loan is a service we offer that helps our patrons locate items that are rare or no longer available to be purchased privately.

Each year we process over a thousand different requests for our patrons for everything from books, audiobooks, music, and articles.

It’s really easy to do!

Either stop in the library or visit the library and fill out a form providing as much detail as possible. Once the request is submitted, our librarians search a database containing over million different items that are available from libraries all across the country.

We’ll let you know when it comes in so you can stop by and pick it up!

Shred-A-Book Contest All Month Long Location: Teen Space

Find the jar in the Teen Space during the month of June and take a guess at what book we’ve shredded. We warn you though, books should not be shredded at home, but we’re professionals, and we love to give away prizes, so we have shredded a book.

Newport Aquarium: Shark Cart

Friday, June 15th • 11am-12pm or 1-2pm Location: Auditorium NO REGISTRATION The Shark Cart brings live sharks to you! This program demystifies common misconceptions about sharks and gets you up-close and personal with these amazing creatures! In addition to the live sharks, several animal artifacts are used in this presentation like shark jaws, a can of shark fin soup, and even shark eggs! By the end you’ll discover how you can make a difference in shark conservation!

SUMMER READING CONTINUES IN JULY! Scavenger Hunts More Movies Bright Star Theatre Silly Safaris

Babygarten: Designed for children up to age 3, this program provides a basic understanding of child development, while providing an engaging time for children and caregivers!

Ready to Read: This interactive storytime is designed for preschool aged children, and focuses on building cognitive, social, physical, and early literacy skills.

Readers are Leaders: Geared for school aged students, this program provides a time to discuss books, play games, and participate in exciting handson activities.

ON DISPLAY Flag Puzzles and Stamps May 21st - June 15th This exhibit is all about what happens when the passion for two hobbies intersect. Explore an amazing collection of flag puzzles, and flag stamps that have been collected over the years by London resident John Radecki. Mr. Radecki has preserved all of the puzzles he has put together so they can be enjoyed for many years to come.
