What do you do when you’re tired of living a routine, superspeedy life where you’ve forgotten stop and smell the roses? One little business with a big heart found themselves longing for more.

As an experiment, they added love as an essential nutrient into their lives for 40 days (and invited their friends to tag along.)

The instant gratification of most things is something our modern day lives are full of. Want a partner? Swipe right. Want entertainment? Hell, you don’t even need to wait for commercials.

Sometimes we see glimmers of those moments where we look out over the ocean and say “damn, nature is cool.” Or, on a warm July night, looking up at the stars, we reflect on how tiny we are.

When the world keeps on moving faster and faster, we might forget to take some time out to say thanks for all the goodness. I mean, what are the chances we came to be? We’re all just twirling around on a giant piece of rock, floating through space.

Those are those fleeting moments we all have that help us ask those questions. You know, the big ones. Like why are we here? Seems like regardless of that answer, love is pretty damn cool. .

Which is why, 40 Days of Love is happening. We want to see what would happen if we intentionally brought more love into all the different areas of our lives. On purpose.

.Â

e d i u G In this 40 day experiment, we are intentionally adding a big dose of love into our lives to see what happens. Since everybody has different ways to go about this, we have come up with some guidelines to follow along:

s e n i l

e n O

We will do something everyday for 40 days that brings more love into our lives, our families, our communities and businesses.

Two

We will give ourselves at least 15 minutes each day to be quiet and alone.

Three

We will document the entire process, taking loads of pictures and journalling about the good, the bad and the ugly.

Before we being, take a few minutes out to reflect. Take a few deep breaths and consider the statements above. Reread you list and circle the one that you’d like to work with over the course of the next 40 days. Set your 40 day intention. The experiment is divided into four 10 day chunks. The idea is that each of these areas build on one other. At the beginning of each of these sections, grab an envelope, and open it up. The envelopes are stuffed with ideas and suggestions for the love infusion we’re aiming for. Have fun, and remember to jot down any thoughts, feelings and experiences that come your way.

Self Love

Days 1 - 10 | Self Love

lo ve,

What better way to start off the 40 Days of Love experiment than with a good dose of self love? There are tons of ways to show yourself love and kindness. We have added in several ideas and inspiration for you. Feel free to add in your own ideas and make sure to document it along the way! Journal, reflect, blog, post and capture your thoughts as you go.

e n O

Set up a sacred space where you can quietly sit and reflect each day. Add a comfy cushion you can comfortably sit on, fresh flowers or any other item of dedication that might inspire. Keep a notebook nearby to jot down what might come to mind.

two Use the beliefs or habits list you created earlier to write yourself a mantra. Something you'd like to hold as a point of focus for the 40 days experiment. Write it on a surface you see daily. Maybe you have it next to your nightstand or in the bathroom.

e e r th

Create a self-care routine (if you have one, give it a re-vamp.) Try oil pulling, warm lemon water first thing or commit to a few minutes of gentle stretching in the morning. Whatever it is, make it a point to start the day by being good to yourself.

Days 11 - 20 | Family Love

lo ve,

Here are some ways (remember, you're more than welcome to come up with ideas on your own as long as they bring the love!) Share moments with family, make time to spend quality time together and capture it!

e n O

Make a secret family recipe that has been passed down. Pull out those old scraps of family history and share memories of days gone by with loved ones.

, e v o l two Have a family game night. Dust off some of those board games, pop some popcorn and get to playing! Infuse laughter into your evening and tell us about it!

e e r th

Go for a day trip somewhere. We are blessed to live in a place with thousands of lakes, tons of natural beauty and the ocean nearby. Plan a family day trip. Bring yummy snacks and your camera to capture the moments.

Volunteer your time in an area that really matters to you. It could be helping someone out with a project they're working on, or at a local shelter.

e e r th
