FORM / FIELD STUDIO ART + ARCHITECTURE + PLANNING We are a design studio integrating art, architecture, and planning to engage people in a relationship with buildings and the public realm. We apply our dedication to creating immersive experiences to a range of commercial, cultural, exhibition, masterplan, and residential projects. Our firm was founded in 2009 to integrate the Triple Bottom Line into a design practice and sustainability consultancy. In 2014, we expanded our practice to include our passion for the process of developing and fabricating art spaces and experiences. But our original purpose remains the same. Form. Field. Studio. The Built Environment. The Natural Environment. And the People who seek better solutions.

For 20 years, Laura Pastine has created her own path in architecture - exploring professional practice as an architect, firm owner, sustainability consultant, and museum exhibition designer. Laura’s ability to balance the impact of strong design vision, efficient project management, and collaborative team facilitation has allowed her to practice in multiple markets including commercial, cultural, municipal, and all areas of residential including institutional, multifamily, and single family. Before beginning her professional career, Laura had an education rich in exploration. This included an emphasis on cross-disciplinary studies, notably physics, art history, and a minor in foreign languages. With graduate school years performing restoration on the historic Barber Schoolhouse, building art fabrications for the School of Dance and her own exhibitions, and design-build construction as part of the University of Kansas’ nationally-celebrated Studio 804, Laura chose an architectural education devoted to understanding design though making. After a decade of practicing architecture with award-winning firms in Kansas City, Laura continued her professional growth with the launching of her practice FORM / FIELD Studio, offering full services architecture and sustainability consulting. With the freedom to explore design beyond the traditional project types of architectural practice, Laura began designing art exhibitions, notably the Nelson-Atkin’s Museum of Art’s feature exhibition, “Plains Indians - Artists of Earth and Sky”. Laura continues to look for new paths to create meaningful design experiences at the intersection of art, architecture, and planning.
