Key design considerations included on-site power generation, envelope design compatible with the local climate, and definition of exterior spaces providing shade and landscaping opportunities.

As a high-performing small building, Sharp Law uses passive daylighting, optimized envelope design, all-electric fixtures, and a VRF mechanical system to achieve 28% energy use savings.

New construction multi-tenant business incubator in Greensburg, Kansas as part of a first wave of LEED Platinum projects designed to rebuild Greensburg after 95% of the town was destroyed by tornado.
The process included training the Wichita-based local architecture firm, initial design to define parti and sustainable strategies, LEED management, credit documentation, and envelope detailing.

LEED consulting included coordination with Penn State Project Management and Facilities teams, with training, design review, and documentation provided to Crawford Architects.

The process included coordination with specialized consultants including hosting a 2-day Biophilia Charette exploring solutions in geothermal capture strategies, circadian programming, and direct-to-dc lighting.
Sun Life Financial’s request for a sustainability checklist grew into a custom rating system for all of their North America workplace projects based on relevant approaches from the LEED Rating System, Fitwel, and the WELL Building Initiative.
The process included an inventory of existing SLF CRE initiatives and policies, vision presentations to develop strategic efforts, coordination with Sun Life Financial CRE Workstream departments - Strategy, Leasing, Design, Facilities - and ultimately the development of a sustainability toolkit including process map, guidelines, specifications, and checklist.
Frank Barton School for Business Woolsey Hall at Wichita State University is the first LEED certified building by the university. The decision to certify Woolsey Hall LEED Gold came last in Schematic Design relying on early feasibility presentations to define strategy and budget.
Once approved, the LEED scope included initial benchmarking, OPR/BOD writing, consultant coordination, ongoing certification strategy, credit documentation, Athena LCA modeling, signage design, LEED Online management, and ongoing writing to share with WSU for social media and donor publication.
