Dear Friends, This is an exciting time for Lauralton Hall as we continue to make incredible progress, exceed our goals and set numerous new records for the school.

As I conclude my tenure as Chair of the Board of Trustees, I am honored by the enthusiasm with which our community has embraced our Lauralton Fund, the Because We Believe campaign and all other fund raising initiatives and goals in support of the continued growth of the school. The Lauralton Fund has more than doubled in size in the last five years and our campaign has reached the $5 million mark. This unprecedented support is a testament to the depth of passion that you feel for our school and our mission.

I am excited to share with you, the 2014-15 Annual Report of Donors. The following pages reflect incredible generosity and pay tribute to the strength of our community.

Our trustees, faculty and staff, parents, alumnae and friends remain committed to the Mercy Core values and the exceptional Lauralton Hall education.

Together, we continue the noble mission of supporting new generations of Lauralton Crusaders, as they embrace the Mercy tradition, find joy in their Lauralton experience, grow confident in their abilities and leave their mark in the world.

Dear Alumnae, Parents, and Friends, What did Lauralton Hall do with the contribution you made last year? How did it make a difference in the lives of our students? In what way did it positively change Lauralton?

1. Increased financial aid by $200,000. Financial aid is a critical component of all Catholic and independent school fundraising efforts as we see more families than ever who seek financial assistance. In 2013-2014, we were able to offer more financial assistance to academically qualified students in financial need.

2. Expanded professional development opportunities for faculty to 3% of our operating budget, the norm for independent schools. Professional development is ingrained and supported at Lauralton Hall fostering continuous learning and improvement. The proliferation of social media and new technologies has changed the way educators teach and how students learn and how both communicate. Great teachers create great students. Some examples of professional development experiences included: • Pam Boynton – Fellowship, Oxford University. Program on “Literature and the Fantastic” • Marilyn Cummings – National Endowment for the Humanities. Seminar on “Impact of the Transcontinental Railroad on Capitalism” • Clem Kuehn – Symposium Book of Genesis” • Marnory Hawes and Eleni Sargianis – University of Salamanca. Program on use of technology in teaching Spanish • Jen Shea, April Kelly and Sue Cavar – attending conferences and workshops indesigning an innovation lab and programs in engineering, robotics and coding 3. Introduced critical safety operations with an investment of $168,000. Security cameras, secured entries, campus emergency “blue” phones and classroom alert buttons were installed increasing our security throughout the campus.

Lastly, we launched our “Because We Believe, The Campaign for Lauralton Hall” with $4.5 million already raised towards the $6 million campaign goal.* This is unprecedented for the school and the largest campaign in Lauralton’s 110 year history.

Gifts to the campaign have allowed us to: • Renovate classrooms introducing new desks, lighting and technologies • Relocated the Main Office to complete our upgraded security measures • Began work on a new artificial turf field and practice track (the official dedication scheduled for Spring 2016) • Completed exterior and initiated interior restoration of the 1864 Carriage Barn into our future Center for the Visual and Performing Arts • Restored the historic, one of a kind Water Tower, reusing a former structure and incorporating it into a planned sustainable outdoor learning environment • Renovated the carousel located in the back of school in time for the Class of 2015’s Senior Count Down • Increased endowment through a combination of new gifts for financial aid, new program initiatives and prudent financial planning All of this is accomplished because of your generosity, your belief in a Mercy education and your commitment to our mission.

2014 GOLF TOURNAMENT The second bi-annual Lauralton Hall Golf Tournament was held on September 17, 2014 at Great River Golf Club.
