Station Cottage on Station Road Launton: A report and an update

Since East West Rail (EWR) changed the road layout near Station Cottage to close the level crossing and build the new road bridge for Station Road to cross the new railbed, it has created 'a dead end' road by Station Cottage, where the old road used to go over the crossing.

This area sees a lot of visitors, and a huge amount of rubbish dumped along the verges and in the ditches. A villager spent a few hours over Easter weekend collecting the rubbish which was then disposed of in our domestic bins. Thank you to Jules for this.

PCSO Louise Beaumont writes on page 35 about Bicester Police being aware of this area and some info about the Nitrous Oxide (N2O) canisters that are popular among the visitors to that area and other areas in our village. She said that if you see anyone using this substance, to phone the police, as they are gathering intelligence about it.

Nitrous oxide can be habit-forming, mainly because of its short-lived effect and ease of access. Death can result if it is inhaled in such a way that not enough oxygen is breathed in.

 This is a psychoactive drug and is covered by the 2016 Psychoactive Substances Act, which means it’s ILLEGAL to give away or sell it.
