The Island Pond Wood welcomes Apple Day on 15 October

The front cover shows Toby Philpott (age 4) at the Island Pond Wood Apple Day Event, bashing apples to pulp before they are transferred to the apple press. He can barely get his hands round the handle of the bashing tool but he did a great job. Cover designed by Matt Hill.

Apple Day in the Island Pond Wood
We were graced with glorious sunshine and a dry afternoon (bar one quick shower) for our Autumn community event held on 15 October. It was lovely to see so many friendly, familiar faces enjoying the woodland.
There was a host of activities to keep visitors busy including Muddy Feet Forest School, Peekaboos Music and Play Club, Paul with his apple press, an Autumn trail and beautiful tree artwork created by children at Launton school. We also enjoyed a performance from Launton Village Players. The cake stand was also - unsurprisingly - very popular!
We would like to say a big thank you to all the volunteers who helped on the day and to everyone who came out to support the wood. There are photos on the front cover, and on pages 2 and 43.
We have another small event running on 29 October where we will be welcome Muddy Feet Forest School back to the wood to celebrate Halloween. There will also be a Halloween trail full of spooky decorations. We hope to see lots of you there.
