Launton Parish Council August Report

Launton Parish Council

There is no Parish Council meeting report this month as, unusually, the Council couldn't meet on 4 August due to a large number of Councillor absences, and because the Clerk needed a holiday, it wasn't possible to arrange any other convenient date.

However, during this quieter time, the Clerk has been working away in the background.

Planning

You may have seen that the Grange Farm application (reference 21/04112/OUT) went to Cherwell’s Planning Committee on 11 August. We understand that this was for the Committee to note that the developers have appealed the Committee’s April 2022 decision. Once the Parish Council has received formal notification from the Planning Inspectorate, the Parish Council will discuss whether there is any further information for submission at a meeting.

The Planning Inspector will receive all information which has been submitted to CDC, so, unless there is new evidence or information, it is not necessary to send the Planning Inspector what has already been sent to Cherwell.

All planning applications, which include the links to Cherwell’s Planning Portal, are put on the Parish Council website when they are received (www.launton-pc.gov.uk -in the Agenda and Minutes section).

If a villager has concerns or comments about a planning application, they are welcome to come along to Parish Council meetings to bring them to the attention of the meeting. Villagers are also welcome to contact Councillors or the Clerk to make comments.

Guidance about how the Parish Council is able to respond is available on the Parish Council website at https://www.launtonpc.gov.uk/planning-applications/

Emergency Plan

Thank you to those who have offered to help as volunteers. All volunteers will have received a letter asking to confirm that the details we hold are correct - if you could let us have these forms back as soon as possible, that would be great.

If you’d like to help, but haven’t got around to letting us know - there’s no time limit - do contact clerk@launton-pc.gov.uk

Following Kyle Michael’s resignation, the Parish Council now has a Councillor vacancy.

The Parish Council needs Councillors in order to function.

The Parish Council is often the place that people in the community come to for guidance. By standing as a Parish Councillor, you become someone your community may look to for help, guidance and support. You will also have the support of an experienced, professional, Clerk and training will be given.

Parish Councils make all kinds of decisions on issues that affect the local community. Among a variety of things, we are the village’s voice on planning matters, we are supporting the village Speedwatch Campaign, we arrange the village grass cutting, we are working on the village Emergency Plan and we are the liaison between East West Rail, the District and County Councils.

We’d love to be able to do more, but with fewer Councillors, it is much harder to make the village’s voice heard.

Please think about whether you can help. See the information on the Becoming a Councillor page at https://www.launtonpc.gov.uk/becoming-a-councillor/ and join us on 1 September for the next Council meeting, in the Parish Hall. The agenda and meeting papers are always published on the website at https://www.launtonpc.gov.uk/agenda-and-minutes/2022-2023-agenda-and-minutes/ .

Agenda items and dates of the next meetings

The next meeting will be on Thursday 1 September in the Parish Hall, starting at 7.30pm and the October meeting will be on 6 October.

If you’d like to chat with a Councillor, do come along on 1 September after 7.15pm.

We are trying to reduce our printing and paper use, so if you would like hard copies of the agenda or any of the meeting papers, please let the Clerk know well before the meeting.

Suggestions for agenda items for the 6 October meeting need to be with the Clerk by 22 September and items for the 10 November meeting (please note change of date) by 20 October.
