RETURN2PLAY
Latymer Upper School has partnered with Return2Play, leading experts in Sports Injury Management. We use Return2Play’s injury management software to log and track the recovery of any sports injury your child may experience.
Each student will be set up with a Return2Play account, details of which will be emailed to their parents. Please ensure you keep these details safe as you will need them if your child is injured in future.
The Return2Play process is as follows:
Live injury register - a live regis ter o f all o u r s tu den ts’ current fitness to play sport is accessible to staff ensuring an injured player is not put at risk by playing before it is safe for them to do so. This also allows us to track current injuries and audit previous injuries.
Injury Logging - as s o o n as a player’s concussion has been logged onto the system, Return2Play sends out a notification to key staff, involved with both your child’s academic and sporting commitments.
Two Weeks’ Rest - an y co n cus s ed player m us t first h ave a m an dato ry tw o-week rest period. During this period, symptoms can be recorded on the Return2Play system to check a player is making a good recovery. This information is passed onto the doctor.
Medical assessment - yo u can bo o k an appo in tm en t at a clin ic run by o n e o f Return2Play’s approved sports-friendly doctors. For maximum convenience there are webcam clinics available in the evenings.
Graduated Return To Play (GRTP) - o n ce th e do cto r is h appy, yo u r ch ild w ill b e allowed to start the GRTP phase of recovery. During this phase, Return2Play will issue advice on how the player can gradually build up the level of exercise and contact they are exposed to.
Final Medical Assessment - befo re an y player can be declared s afe to retu rn to fu ll contact sport, they must be assessed by the doctor again before being given the all clear to proceed.
Return to Sport - if th e do cto r is s atis fied th at a fu ll reco very h as been m ade, th ey will issue a certificate through the system, which is then automatically sent out to everyone who has an interest in the player.
