Jessica Cecil Controller, BBC Make it Digital

Jessica is Controller of BBC Make it Digital. She leads the BBC’s major initiative to inspire a new generation to get creative with digital technology. With partner organisations, it has developed a code-able computer, the BBC micro:bit, and given it free to 1 million 11 and 12 year olds across the UK, and created a crowdsourced weather club, Weather Watchers.

Before this Jessica was Chief of Staff to four BBC Director-Generals. In 2011, she led the strategic change programme to focus BBC spending and save £700 million a year. She is an Emmynominated programme maker, and senior journalist, and was Assistant Editor of BBC Newsnight. She is a non-executive Director of the London Ambulance Service, and is on the advisory body of the charity IntoUniversity, which helps thousands of less privileged young people reach higher education

Emma Cerrone Co-Founder, Partner & Board Director of Freeformers

Emma leads Transformation at Freeformers, working with FTSE 250 companies and large incumbent brands across sectors including Financial Services. Responsible for the company's sales and growth engine, she led Freeformers' strategic partnership with Barclays to realise the Digital Eagles programme, which reached 10,000+ colleagues. Emma has nearly two decades of experience in retail, communications and digital transformation and was COO at a London-based communications agency. A multiple awardwinner, she previously received the Duke of York New Entrepreneur of the Year at the National Business Awards, was a 2016 NatWest Women in Tech to Watch and was also named as one of 10 ‘Changemakers’ in The Sunday Times.

Nick Moody

Head of Premier League Productions Nick has worked in sports production for over 20

years, having cut his teeth at Sky Sports where he progressed to produce flagship shows such as Monday Night Football. He joined ITV Sport in 1999 where he produced various different sports programmes as well as football programmes at European Finals, World Cup & European Championships, winning an RTS awards for the magazine show ‘On The Ball’.

In 2009, Nick joined IMG to set up and lead a team that produced all of the ESPN UK football output, including the Premier League, Europa League, SPL and the production of three FA Cup Finals, the first of which picked up the Broadcast Digital Award for Best Sports Programme.

Nick took over as Head of Premier League Productions in 2013, and has overseen a huge expansion in both output and the size of the team. PLP are responsible for delivering the Premier League to 80 different broadcasters in 212 territories around the world, producing a world feed around every match, servicing all overseas broadcasters’ unilateral requirements at the games, and producing seven core magazine shows as well as a 24hr Premier League channel.

Sim Scavazza

Global Head of Retail, EF Education First

A Retail and Fashion specialist with over 25 years in the Clothing Industry, Sim has worked in Buying and Merchandising for some of the leading High Street Retailers in the UK, including six years at the Arcadia Group where she was Brand Director of the Miss Selfridge fashion chain. Sim is a Governor at the University of the Arts London, comprising 6 world class creative arts colleges, where she also chairs the UAL Personnel Committee. She is a member of the Creative Industries Federation. She is currently at EF Education First, a world class provider of International education where she has established a merchandise division.

Sim also chairs the registered charity Mentor UK, a harm reduction and education charity working with young people in the field of drugs and alcohol.

Ernesto Schmitt

Technology and Media entrepreneur

Ernesto Schmitt is a serial entrepreneur in media and technology. He has created numerous disruptive digital ventures, including Zeebox, Beamly, Peoplesound and most recently Drivetribe with Messrs Clarkson, Hammond and May. Ernesto graduated in engineering from Cambridge, and holds an MBA from INSEAD.

How can I become involved in the Future Skills initiative?

As well as offering our topical debate, one of the aims of this evening’s event is to encourage connections between our pupils and guests. With that in mind, we would like to present you with an opportunity to engage in a mutually beneficial partnership programme with Latymer Upper School.

The idea is to create educational and industry links that are progressive and rewarding for all involved. As one of the leading co-educational schools in the UK, we have a large cohort of bright and talented pupils who would add value and breadth to your organisation, whilst gaining invaluable real-world experience themselves through a liaison with a dynamic enterprise.

Below are some suggestions on how you might become involved; of course you may have other ideas. Either way we would love to hear from you. 

Internships and/or work experience o We have some of the brightest and freshest minds in the UK, all at an early stage of considering their career options. o Benefit from their enthusiasm, insightfulness and willingness to learn, possibly identifying employees of the future. o Pupils will be provided with an opportunity to contextualise their learning in the real world and have their eyes opened to the mechanics of business.



Speakers/Panellists o An opportunity to inspire the specialists and entrepreneurs of the future.



e-Mentoring o e-Mentoring at Latymer Upper School is simply email correspondence between a mentor and mentee moderated by our software platform. o This is an opportunity for personal development led by each student’s needs and could focus on one or more of the following: Confidence, Attainment, Motivation, Progression, Skill Development, Knowledge, Self Knowledge, Employability, Decision making, Networking

o

This is achieved by providing information and advice, and supporting students with appropriate target setting drawing on your own experience as a successful professional or academic.



Product testing o Partners would supply a regular pipeline of products that require testing. o Latymer would establish working groups to test, evaluate and engage in a feedback loop. o Pupils will gain invaluable experience of the product lifecycle and the opportunity to work closely in teams to appraise, generate ideas and feedback on partner products. o Partners will forge working relationships with a generation that accepts radical technological change as a norm and benefit from a fresh approach.  Young minds will provide an alternative perspective and, for certain products, will no doubt be the ideal test candidates.



Enterprise Competitions o Establish corporate branded competitions. o This might be to design a product to fit a specific company brief, or possibly something more generic based on the sectors the company operates or plans to operate within.  The prize could be the internships mentioned above, or could be having the product developed and marketed, and might include a certificate and reward.
