WELCOME Dear Friends and Supporters, Welcome to the Latino Student Fund’s (LSF) Annual Gala! It is an honor that you have chosen to join us this evening. The festivities tonight might look different, but they are a true celebration of our mission and a result of the tireless dedication of this year’s Gala co-chairs, Juan Jara & Brian Mack, Elsa V. Gomez, & Andres Echeverri, and Ashley & Doug Kollme. I want to express my deepest gratitude to them for the tremendous amount of time and energy they put into the planning and execution of our Virtual Gala. Additionally, the Gala Committee members have been a powerful and passionate team devoting countless hours to ensure the success of this event.

I would also like to take a moment to extend a special thank you to the Ambassador of Spain, His Excellency Santiago Cabanas and Mrs. Sol Oyarzun Cabanas, for supporting our event and our cause.

Since our beginning in 1994, the Latino Student Fund (LSF) has served over 4,500 students and their families in the Washington Metropolitan area. Today, the LSF offers eight programs under three programmatic areas: postsecondary success, academic support, and family resources.

These initiatives work together to serve students from pre-kindergarten up to 12th grade and encourage a culture of higher education from a young age while building a strong community that will sustain our program’s successes for generations to come.

That next generation of students will represent a changed community, one that we at the LSF are working hard to adapt to. This year, we’ve offered all our programs virtually and expanded our tutoring program capacity. As the Hispanic community in the D.C. area grows, we must grow with it in order to mold the future leaders of that very community.

In the spirit of celebration, I would like to welcome you to tonight’s celebration and thank each one of you for your continued investment in the future of today’s youth.

The mission of the Latino Student Fund (LSF) is to provide opportunities for a strong academic foundation for underserved PreK-12th grade to promote higher education and professional leadership.

The LSF was founded in 1994 to address the growing high school dropout rates among Latino students in Washington, DC. Over the years, we have continued to develop and expand our services to meet the evolving educational needs of the Latino community in the Greater Washington region.

Join us on June 10 at 7 pm for the Latino Student Fund's firstever, virtual Gala! The Annual Gala is our biggest fundraiser of the year and our students still need your support as we move through these challenging times.

This year’s virtual Gala will feature a silent auction program, complete with bidding opportunities and powerful stories!
