A theatre is a shared space. It’s where differing perspectives, new ideas and fresh voices have an opportunity to be heard. It’s where people of all kinds get to connect over meaningful experiences. It’s where audiences become a community and stories have the power to inspire. The Denver Center for the Performing Arts is proud to support Latinas LEAD and invites you to make this space your own. Our partnerships go beyond performances as we offer tickets, rehearsal rooms and resources to organizations across the state. We’re interested in opening our doors, creating space for conversation and sparking new connections.
Whether it’s for work or play, we hope to see you again soon!

Keynote Speakers A Latina filmmaker and cultural storyteller, Denise Soler Cox, is dedicated to helping individuals, organizations and companies transform how we experience culture, identity, and belonging. She’s built a reputation for being a speaker who has the rare ability to shine a light on a sensitive and often ignored topic with extraordinary clarity, honesty, and humor. Her approach not only inspires and provokes new ways of thinking but most importantly leaves audiences inspired to take action and incorporate positive change into their lives. She is a distinguished member of the 4th Cohort of the Stanford Latino Leaders Entrepreneur Program and is a National Association of Latino Independent Producers 2017 Fellow. Denise was also the 2017 recipient of the Virginia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Bridge Builder Education Award. She has been the featured speaker in places like Facebook, LinkedIn, KPMG, The Smithsonian Latino Center, Yale University, Wellesley College, Google, Proctor & Gamble’s Orgullosa, TEDx, Starbucks and VaynerMedia to name a few. Her work with Project Eñye has been featured on Forbes.com, CNN, NBC Latino, Telemundo, Univision, Fox News Latino and more. Joining 9NEWS on December 5, 2017, was a dream come true for Sonia Gutierez. She’s a Colorado native, grew up in Denver and has deep roots in the Latinx community. Es Latina y bilingüe. This isn’t Sonia’s first time with 9NEWS. She was an intern years ago and worked for Telemundo Denver when they were housed inside our building. After Telemundo, Sonia headed to the deep south. In South Carolina she worked with News19 WLTX. There she covered multiple hurricanes, the Charleston church shooting and the 1,000 year flood. Critical life and death information wasn’t getting to the Hispanic community during that flood until Sonia began relaying the information in Spanish on-air, online, and through social media. That bilingual reporting earned her an Emmy nomination. When Hurricane Harvey hit Texas, Sonia was sent to help our sister station in Houston. She spent a month there and told stories from communities not many other news outlets were going to. During that trip, Sonia was offered the job in Denver. She’s an MSU Roadrunner and Ranum Radier. Sonia was a part of the great work on Colorado driver’s licenses for undocumented immigrants that earned Telemundo Denver multiple awards.
Featured Speakers Ramona Beltrán, MSW, PhD is a Xicana of Yaqui descent and Assistant Professor at the University of Denver Graduate School of Social Work. Her scholarship is committed to interrupting legacies of historical trauma that affect Indigenous and Latinx communities. As a dancer/activist/scholar, she focuses on working with communities in disrupting the problem-focused approach to understanding health and well being that is profuse in mainstream research and practice. She does this through centering culture, resistance, and healing, as well as arts-based and storytelling methods in collaborative knowledge production with and for community.

LATINAS LEAD Latinas LEAD is an initiative of the Latino Community Foundation of Colorado. It was created to catalyze the power of community and philanthropy to strengthen the leadership development process of Latinas so that they can drive social change. Latinas LEAD will catalyze the philanthropic nature of Latinas who value identity, culture and giving back to their communities. We provide grants that fund leadership projects or programs, provide scholarship opportunities to attend local or national leadership trainings, cultivate networking and mentorship opportunities and host the annual Power Summit. We believe that the leadership mindset begins early and requires all of us putting in our best efforts to connect girls and women to resources, opportunities and leadership pathways so that we can use our skills, talents and voice to positively impact the community. For more information contact Rachel Griego, Vice President of Programs and Initiatives, at rgriego@rcfdenver.org or 303.398.7449.
LAS MUJERES VALIENTES FELLOWSHIP The Las Mujeres Valientes Statewide Fellowship was inspired by women of wisdom (Latinas 50+), who wanted to share their knowledge, experiences and life lessons with younger Latinas so that they would be better prepared in navigating their lives to be more fulfilled in their identity, with families, their community and their careers. Through the Fellowship, women of wisdom will inspire a vision that contributes to building a new narrative for aging. In turn, younger Latinas will partner with women of wisdom and communicate their current values regarding life, family, education, career and leadership to better understand one another and together work to empower Latinos in Colorado. For more information contact Patricia Barela Rivera, Senior Managing Fellow, at PBRDenver@gmail.com
