A FATHER’S HEART

In the quiet morning's glow, As dawn begins to rise, A father's love, forever strong, Reflects within his eyes.
With hands that build, and hearts that heal, He guides with wisdompure, Through storms of life, through joy and strife, His love remains secure.
He teaches us to dreamand soar, To reach for stars above,
With every step, his steady hand, A testament to love.
He shares our laughter, wipes our tears, And stands through every test, A rock, a guide, a hero true, In his embrace, we're blessed.
With every story that he tells, With every lesson learned, He shapes the world within our hearts, His legacy is earned.
So here's to fathers, near and far, Whose love lights up the way, We honor you with grateful hearts, On this, your special day.
For all the dreams you've helped us chase, For all the love you share, We thank you, Dad, for being you, For always being there. .

MICHAELOCHOTORENA “HOLLYWOODOCHO”
A Journey from the Streets of East LA to Hollywood Film.

You’ve heard of Hollywood, CA. The city is synonymous with famous actors, movie studios, lavish lifestyles and the walk of fame. The infamous Hollywood sign sits atop Mount Lee in Bold Giant white letters overlooking the city where movie magic happens.
But the words I’ll be writing will be anything but glitz and glamor, it will sound more like a storyline for a movie that is basedonatruestory.
Michael Ochotorena who goes by Hollywood Ocho probably thought that the life he is living now was probably out of reach and not in his sight because of the challenging obstacles he had to overcome. So come along and let us walk down his path and see what Hollywood Ocho is all about and how his life is as big and bold as thatHollywoodSign.
I got to meet Michael a few days prior to my interview. I had my preconceived notions of who hemightbe, butonlybecauseofwhatIhadheard from others and goggling his name. I got a call that he would be on the Puro Pedo podcast; I was invited to meet Ocho there on the set and although we did not talk too much I had a good feeling about Hollywood Ocho despite his rough and tough look Tattoos on his face and on his head in lieuq of hair and then just seeing him can make you think twice about approaching him, but then again you have to sit back and wonder, if he was this really inhumane person, why was it that I heard nothing of the sort Who is this Hollywood Ocho? What makes him stand out besides his presenceatfirstsight.
Michael Ochotorena was born in Tucson, AZ.thats where he said his dad was originally from and when he was about the age of 6 he and his mom moved to Los Angeles where she had grown up; in an area that has a bad reputation.. East LA. That part of the city is known for being the backdrop of many movies that depicted the East side of the city of angels as predominantly a Hispanic riddled place with gangs, crime and drugs and, well, just a bad neighborhood in the LAarea.
But that description was not far from the truth Ochotorena’s life started to take a turn at the age of 12 Like most minority families, Ocho did not have his dad around much as he was out taking care of business with his other “family” He knew his dad had a reputation of dealing drugs and runningthestreetsofLA
Michaelwantedhisdadtonoticethathecouldbe just as bad and wanted to impress his dad. That his dad would want to come back and be a part of his family's life So Ocho started his climb by selling weed at a very young age That would eventuallygethimnoticedbyanew“family”
That family was choosing the gang life as a Crip Ochotorena sold weed to gang members, who he was already hanging with, and ended up in this circle of what he would call his Family. He had set out to be like his father and even better and hewasprovinghimselftothefullest.

You see, whatever the pandilleros who had higher ranks wanted him to do, he would do it with no hesitation or remorse. He was still young, but the respect he was earning made him feel appreciated for who he was and was becoming. He eventually started accepting to do more illegal and dangerous work, if you will, that in due time would get him in trouble with the law.
Most of his teenage years were spent in and out of Juvenile Detention in Los Angeles. His young adultlifewouldbespentincarcerated. The justice system wants us to believe that being incarcerated is supposed to help rehabilitate a person to think about what that person has done and be able to turn their life around But it is just the opposite As Hollywood Ocho stated, “Being locked up is supposed to rehabilitate you, but it justmakesyouabettercriminal”
After he turned 17 he was ready to leave “Juvie” and learn the ropes of life in the big house….Prison.Iguessyoucansayhegraduated tothenextlevelof“FamilyLife”.
Being locked up in a California prison he says youhavetomakechoicesandtakesides.Hewas not in the streets anymore but being locked up changed somewhat but not really. The blocks of the streets of LA turned into cell blocks of a California prison. You trade the openness of the concrete jungle to the confines of brick and mortar and corridors with nowhere to hide or run.
Ochowasinhislatetwentieswhenhegainedhis freedom out of the confines of the big house. Ready to tackle the world and get back to what he knows best. You guessed it, back to the streets with the knowledge he learned while serving his time of being a better convict and a drug pusher (connect) He began selling and using coke, heroin and speedballing He was also an enforcer when he was called upon to take action During this time he was living his life as a father to his son and still being loyal to his “set” in the gang world. A double life. But, one day he was dropping off his son at school and he saw a vision and his life was about to make a 360 degreeturn.
That vision was the mother of one of his son's classmates that caught his eye. Ocho all of a sudden wanted to be more involved as a school dad and volunteered to participate in school activities. But then again who wouldn’t go out of their way to spark the interest of someone else. Michael approached his muse, whose name is Cecilia, and asked her out. He was flabbergasted when she, in his words, “Dissed him”. What? How? “This has never happened to me with women” Girls wanted to be with him He was a hard gangster, had money and drugs and ran the streets of LA He had made a name for himself Respected How was he “Dissed” by this woman?
Well, he really wanted to meet her and date her. Come to find out that Cecilia was the daughter ofapastor. So,ofcourseshewasn’tgoingtojust date anyone. Especially a gangster. But since he was determined to get her to notice him and get to date her; He went to many school events his son was attending, even so far as to being a ScoutLeader.
After seeing his persistence she gave him his chance. But Cecilia was not no ordinary girl. She told him from the get go… “If we start to date, GOD has to be a part of this relationship”. She was willing to look beyond who he was and where he'd been, how he looked and the Reputationhehad Heagreedtogiveitatry
Ocho was not a religious person and fell short on faith I mean, he lived on the edge of a life that…he wanted to change? Why? He was noticing he was becoming a person he came to dislike growing up…his father. That way of living was not all he thought it would be. He was not happy and always had to be on the lookout ofhissurroundings.Hewasreadyforachange.
Cecilia showed him a new way of living, a new way of thinking, a new Michael Ochotorena He had found a GOD fearing woman and another family You see Ocho had only known darkness but he says he saw light when he realized that GOD was forgiving He parallels himself to the life of Paul (Saul) in the BIBLE He was against who Jesus was. A persecutor of those who believedandconvertedtoChristianity.Paulwasa person who did ungodly actions and yet GOD, Jesus, forgave him for who he was and what he had been. If Paul was forgiven, then Michael could be forgiven as well. Mr. Ochotorena with the help of his now wife Cecilia saw a rebirth of who he was. He had changed and became the father and husband he longed to be in his own right.
Leaving the life you worked so hard to get was even harder letting go He stopped drinking and using drugs intravenously cold turkey Ocho knows how hard to let go of using was and doing it on his own was a feat in itself Taking action as he did to stop his bad habits, really could have killedhim.
Thebodyreactsinsuchawaythatitwantsyouto keep poking those needles and thirsting for alcohol. His body was in shock and could have had circumstances beyond his control. But with his newfound faith and family love he was able to withstand the pain he was going through. To overcomeandnotbeblindtoahigherTruth.
He finally gave up. He gave up the people he hung around with, he gave up drugs and alcohol and most importantly, he gave up his life to Jesus Christ. Plus he earned his “ticket” from his past life. As long as you are doing the work of God and helping out in the community the gangs will overlook you Let you live your life, but if you messup, thenyourmembershipreactivates
But so far he has opted out of doing that again So then I ask him how did you start your interest in acting. He had a friend who knew that he had boxed and knew martial arts in his younger days. They needed a fight choreographer. He accepted and before he knew it he was the main villain in thefilm.

Impressed with his work his friend connected him with other filmmakers and soon he was doing more films and eventually was a SAG/AFTRA member when he'd been casted in a country music video for country singer Randy Houser. This led him to do more acting and has done to date 197 films and televisionshowsasaunionactorandas we are conducting this interview he is working on or has worked on 7 more films back to back and is premiering a movie on May 25th with actress Stormy Lopez as the lead actress called Dawgz Life. It will be shown at City Base cinemas on San Antonio’s South side.
His calling didn’t stop there. Oh no, while filming a movie a costar told him he should get into wrestling Well, being a big fan of the old WWF Championship Wrestling, it piqued his interest The costar wrestled for an organization and invited him to a promonight.Ochotookittoheart.
But the words I’ll be writing will be anything but glitz and glamor, it will sound more like a storyline for a movie thatisbasedonatruestory.
He went and showed who he was, a Badass wrestler. That is where Hollywood Ocho came to life. His name and persona became a hit and became the favored fighter of all the AIWF where he is the Heavyweight champion and Extreme Champion. Yes, he is also a pro wrestler, as well. He is so popular that he even has a Toy figure made for him. Crazy, right? But so awesome at the same time. In the end he says it's just another platform to “spread the word that change is possible” “GOD changed me but as long as you have that desire to change you can change '' , in the end “you can come from the worst of the worst and the darkest of hearts and if you have thatdesireyoucanchange.”
He also owns three wrestling promotions and in a partnership with a publishing company where they make movies and distribute them all over the U.S. “He came where he came from, but he would not have been able to succeedstayingwherehewas.”
Michael Ochotorena’s takeaway is that in the past he was a taker and now, he is proud to say, he is a giver and able to go back to his old neighborhoods, churches, schools, correction facilities and be a light to others who are still in the dark. He is a minister too and he is a testament that a person can change andbecomeabetterpersonallaround
Hollywood Ocho!! Now you know the man who is known by the name that stands tall, loud and proud that lets everyone know who HOLLYWOOD OCHOwasandhasbecome. But,justrememberhiswords….
“If I can rise above from where I came from, anyonecan!”

FROM HUMBLE BEGINNINGS TO HYDRATION HERO: THE
INSPIRING JOURNEY OF
VICTOR
M. VALDEZ, RN
Victor Manuel Valdez is not a San Antonio Native, but as the old adage says, “he got here as fast as he could” Victor grew up in the border town of Eagle Pass The city is located about 142 miles to the Southwest of the Alamo city. Many of us here in the city trek the 2 ½ hour drive to try their luck at Kickapoo Lucky Eagle Casino. Eagle Pass shares the Mexican border with Piedras Negras, Coahuila across the Rio Grande
Victor M. Valdez was in high school and working at a McDonald's. It was his senior year, and at 17 he became a manager. Upper management was impressed with his work ethic and saw him as an asset to the franchise

He remembers that he had been asked “what did he want to achieve”, he said he’d want to open and own his own franchise one day.
He was going to have to work really hard for a McDonald’s restaurant In the late 80’s to open a McDonald’s you needed $250,000 to get the ball rolling and be an owner But he had set his goal and was going to strive for it
(Insert here: Sound of record scratching) Not so fast. While in his last year at the local high school a group of recruiters came by to talk about nursing. The pitch: it will take you two years to be a nurse and start making $15/hr. That was good money at that time. Minimum wage in 1989 was $3.35/hr. Victor graduated from H.S. in 1988 and the Nursing program would take two years to complete and the state minimum wage would have gone up to $4.00/hr.
So, nursing was a fast track to make the money he wanted to earn. Now what about the Golden Arches? Well, he had plan B. He would go to nursing school for the two years and he would be able to raise the capital he needed to open a fast food restaurant. Let’s just say plan B had to take a step back. Nursing school wound up taking 6 years to finish and he also met his future wife during that time, But it all would work out in the end.
So from that he still kept his entrepreneurial spirit. He now owns four businesses with a focus on most recent venture in the IV Nutridrip business. He decided to diversify in this area, well, because it is becoming popular, but also to be able to be more aware and keep people safe in a growing trend; there are deficiencies in the practice of IV drips and the main goal is to keep the public safe and professional in this field. Infusion Therapy comes easy to Victor as he had been an ICU nurse for 15 years so why not delve into this lucrative career He brings a wealth of knowledge and leadership to show others how to work on higher standards.
The hearth and wellness industry is starting to appeal to more people and are looking for ways to keep themselves healthy while maintaining a sometimes fast pace life. The options we as the general public do not have a lot of healthy food choices to keep a healthy lifestyle and that’s where the IV Nutridrip comes in to play, where proteins and other nutrients are not readily available and to give the body what it craves to have a feel well body.

So what types of drips are available for our wellbeing. Here is a few to peak you interest. Let’s start with the basic IV Nutridrip it helps with Hydration and includes B complex and vitamin C to help give you a feel well body
Next he has the Nutrifit. This helps Those high performance athletes to give energy and supplement the nutrients that an athlete needs.
Nutrislim is one that helps increase metabolism for a better workout and can be used as a weight loss supplement. Do not get this confused as a get quick loss remedy. It is not that and just like any other regiment you must have a well balanced diet and workout session to help with any kind of way to lose weight
Next up is the IV Feel Alive. This one allows the client to feel wellness in its totality. It helps boost enegy and helps with your immune system. It can give you mental clarity, decrease stress and anxiety for the overall feel good body But is you want a little more to your well being then you can ask to get the Feel Alive +. Includes everything previously mentioned and helps with hair, skin and nails and extra nutrients, antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties, which helps release discomfort in the joint and body. Basically detoxifies the body from free radicals that contribute to making you feel weak, debilitated and sick.
So how does one know what they need? Well, you start out with a questionnaire, which is like any medical facility. Fill out about your lifestyle, but you can also be direct and tell them exactly what you need accomplished. From low energy, tiredness or maybe you just partied too much and need to feel better.
The IV Nutridrip team can help with what you need and lead you in the right direction. And are you one of those who hate to get picked wrong more that one or two times? Good news!!! Victor’s office has top technology using ultrasound to find your vein and to actuall see the needle hitting the target and not second guessing, that to me is a plus.
When you visit his office which is located at 4400 S Piedras Suite 241, San Antonio, TX 78228 located in the Brass Professionsl Center. The hours are M-F 9-5 and if you need a drip after hours, weekends or a special event or even and IV Party. You can all the office at 210-4268306. Mention you saw his story in Latinx SA International magazine and receive 10% off your visit.
Remember for a friendly, relaxed and professional experience in IV Nutridrip, check out Victor M. Valdez and why he believes in serving his clients “Higher Standard, Better Care”.

HEALTH, WEALTH AND HAPPINESS; THE TRUE MEANING OF SUCCESS.

In our quest for health and wellness, we are subject to buzzwords, phrases, and a constant bombardment of information and advertising. With easy internet access to information, how do you know what is true and what isn’t? How do you know which products and services are good for youandwhicharesalespitches?
Concentrating on the fact we are about to enter the summer months and the heat has been newsworthy, two things that are highly relevant and searched are hydration and detoxification. Realizing one cannot be without the other, these basic principles have existed since the dawn of civilization yet are the focus of a billion-dollarindustry
You do not have to look very far to feed your body the basics of what it needs to cleanse itself and prevent dehydration. Why is dehydration so essential to avoid? What does good hydration mean, and can hydrationbeover-achieved?
Hydration allows your body to maintain its levels of minerals and electrolytes. Each cell needs sodium, potassium, magnesium, and other basic minerals to perform all the electrical tasks of speaking between themselves. These internal electrical messages allow our heart to beat and the nerves to keep our brain functioning and muscle movements
Hydration allows our body to rid itself of toxic exposures, so even the sunscreen, mosquito sprays, grass fertilizers on the field, etc., can be cleared from the tissues and liver by improved circulation, regular bowel movements, sweating, and urination and good hydration allows all of these functions to occur naturally and regularly. Hydration allows vitamins and nutrients to build our muscles and tissues and feed their tasks.

The advertising and marketing industry depends on your lack of knowledge and desperation for information on the latest and greatest to buy their products. Hydration is simple. Mineral water from good sources in glass and stainless steel canisters, locally grown produce in season and organic or non-GMO and rainbow of colors, regular exercise, and daylight without direct sun, avoiding 10 am to 2 pm, and stress reduction are the ways to improve your bodies function and needs without a high price tag or complicating your efforts. I like glutathione, magnesium glycinate, and simple water additives such as electrolyte balancing packets without additives, and please avoid sugar-loaded electrolyte drinks. Even the low sugar or “no carb” drinks have artificial sweeteners, and we are not able to differentiate artificial sweeteners from pure sugar or high fructose corn syrup. IV hydration bars and clinics are excellent for hangovers or after intense workouts, but you should avoid both practices because neither is good for you. Headaches, leg cramps, disorientation, nausea, and even signs of thirst are signs you have pushed your body too far and are dehydrated. Dehydration happens quickly.
Dehydration interrupts all of these essential features, and yes, you can overdo hydration. If too much water is without balance like a gallon plus of pure or distilled water all at once or any rehydration too quickly, depending on the severity of dehydration, it can cause sodium and potassium levels to drop rapidly and is deadly, so stay hydrated and prevent dehydration as a precaution.
The old rule of 8-10 glasses a day is too vague, so the CDC states that women need 2.7 liters a day and men 3 liters a day. I say this is the bare minimum especially in this summer heat or if you are working outside and exercising. A cup of 6-8 Oz every 10-20 min helps to stay hydrated, but remember if you feel thirsty, you are already dehydrated in the early stages.
Staying hydrated improves your sweating, urinating, and bowel movements, which is how we remove toxins, and drinking plenty of water keeps the blood washing through your organs and muscles to flush those toxins. Cheap and easy detoxification! Have a great Spring and be prepared for the hot summer to come, and stay well!

“What Is Pharmacy Compounding?”
PHARMACIST
With all the hype over the weight loss drugs semaglutide (Ozempic ®, Wegovy ®) and tirzepatide (Mounjaro ®, Zepbound ®) you have probably heard about maybe being able to get these medications cheaper at a compounding pharmacy Like most people, your first response was probably “A what pharmacy?” So let’s take a minute to discuss what pharmacy compounding is, and if it is a good option for you.
The term pharmacy compounding simply means that the medication is made at the pharmacy for a specific patient. It has been a part of pharmacy practice since the profession started. While there have been many breakthrough products made available to the masses by the large pharmaceutical manufacturers, there will always be a need for the individualized services that a compounding pharmacist can offer to a patient.
Some examples of these services:
-A patient who has difficulty swallowing tablets or capsules may benefit from medications prepared in alternative dosage forms such as liquids, topical creams, suppositories, or lozenges
-A patient with allergies or sensitivities to certain ingredients found in commercial medications may require formulations that are free of these allergens, dyes, or preservatives
-A patient may require a dose of medication that is not commercially available (i.e. patient needs a 1mg dose but the medication is only available as a 5mg tablet).
-A medication is no longer commercially available, but the pharmacist can order the base chemical and create a comparable formulation so the patient still has access to the medication.

Because of the nature of pharmacy compounding, these medications will never be FDA approved. There is no practical way to test every compound from every pharmacy in the United States
Does this mean these medications are inherently unsafe? No.
Does it mean that they are unregulated? No.
Does it mean that patients should ask more questions when using these medications ABSOLUTELY
When the pharmacist receives more input from the patient, it allows the care to become much more personalized. This almost always leads to better patient outcomes and a much better patient experience. Be aware that just because a pharmacy does compounding, it doesn’t mean that they can fill every compound prescription Some formulations may require specialized equipment or ingredients that not every pharmacy has access to. For example, anything injectable needs to be prepared in a specialized
sterile room to prevent a patient from accidentally becoming infected with a bacterial or fungal infection.
These rooms are cost prohibitive for many pharmacies. But all is not lost – if you ask, most pharmacists that do compounding on a regular basis can usually formulate an alternative to the injectable – usually a topical product, or something you can put under the tongue.
The takeaway is this – if you need personalized medicine, there is no better ally than a compounding pharmacist
OK. OK. OK. I know I messed up when I started this article talking about Mounjaro ® and Ozempic ®. The question that I am expected to answer is – “Are these medications safe to get from a compounding pharmacy?”
Since pharmacy compounding is designed to be for an individual patient, the answer is ultimately up to you. I can give you information so you can make an informed decision about your personal health.
When the
pharmacist receives more input from the patient, it allows the care to become much more personalized.

Chemical Origin: Most of the active ingredients are sourced from other countries These may or may not be FDA approved facilities If this concerns you, ask the pharmacy where they are sourcing the ingredients.
Formulations: As mentioned before, injectable forms need to be prepared in a sterile environment This is not a problem for most pharmacies that routinely perform sterile compounding. However, there are other dosage forms (sublingual, troches, etc) that may provide an effect without the cost or risk of an injectable form
Dose: The dose can be more easily personalized than commercially available forms.
I hope this information gives you a good start to make your decision about whether these medications are a good option for you. It’s not comprehensive by any means, but it should help move the conversation along with your healthcare provider if you want to explore these options

THEARTOFCULINARYFUSION:
Cuba1918
My name is Madison Jimenez, I am a 21 year old Mexican American young woman. I find purpose in giving back to the community that raised me: the Southside of San Antonio
There are many things that contribute to the quality of my character. I am self driven, hospitable, communicative, empathetic, adaptable, and consistent. All of these qualities make me who I am In my late years of academia I attended East Central High School. I was extremely involved in school cohorts and activities-namely the National Honors Society (NHS) and the Health Occupation Students of America (HOSA), for which I was the secretary of

I also spent time volunteering at Country Care Manor as a certified nursing assistant and at Harmony Elementary School as a junior assistant These extracurriculars guided me to a path of giving back and being of assistance to my community Eventually, when places started to open back up, I was hired at Olive Garden; my first job. When I started there in early September 2020, we were still in pandemic mode. Everyone was wearing masks, people were staying 6 feet apart, and it just felt so different. Over time, I continued my education and grew my career in the Olive Garden company.

I started as a server, then I eventually got promoted to a certified trainer for servers & hosts. Furthermore, I was ToGo’s Specialist. Every step of the way I learned something new This led me to become very successful in my position at Olive Garden, as I am adaptable and a people person.
For example, I had regulars who would come just to receive the hospitality I offered to every guest and a management group that relied on me to run the team. However, it began to feel stagnant to me
I felt as if I’ve learned everything there was to offer with Olive Garden. So I began to search for a new beginning I applied to many places, even places outside of the food industry. Many were enticing, until Cuba 1918 was recommended to me
Upon my interview, all the information I had prior consisted of the fact that it was a Cuban cuisine restaurant. As well as the coincidence that my Step-mother was good friends with the owner of this business
After sitting down and going through the interview questions and learning about the restaurant, I began to notice Cuba 1918 was so much more than just a restaurant that is owned by a married couple, Erica and Ray Rodrigez. It was an opportunity for me, as this growing business needed a Hospitality Manager
They decided then to take a chance with me and hired me to handle that position. As of now, I am two months in with Cuba 1918 I am the Hospitality Manager, as well as the Hiring Manager. In my short time, I’ve already created a standardized training book for all new hires.

I also have recently been accepted into Texas A&M San Antonio for my Bachelors in Social Work. I meet with Erica weekly to help expand my knowledge with the company, but also to get more involved with her work outside of Cuba 1918.
We are always volunteering with organizations to help give them the space to host events or even cater to them off-site
Here at Cuba 1918, we are consistently trying to give back to the SouthWest side of San Antonio. It is
for that reason that I was so inspired to join this team, because the way they operate is befitting for the way I choose to make my mark. For now, my journey is here, spearheading community change with the Cuba 1918 team. Whatever the future holds, this is where I know I can look forward to growth

FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE
When we think of Russian boxers, the first name that comes to most people’s mind is Ivan Drago Most remember him by his epic fights with Apollo creed and Rocky Balboa in the 1985 Rocky 4. Blockbuster movie. When it comes to professional Russian boxing world champions the list is very short and they and their reign are few and far between. In my opinion the Klitschko brothers were the most popular of all world champion boxers from Russia. Vitali and Vladimir Klitschko dominated the heavyweight division for over 10 years At their peak between 2004 and 2015 the brothers went 32 and 0 and held all six heavyweight championship titles at one time combined Within the last 2 decades there have been a few Russian boxers that have come and gone, but lately, I feel like there has been a surge of Russian born boxers dominating their divisions. These last two weekends have shown a few of their dominance in the ring.
It began in early May with Vasil Lomachenko from Ukraine who is now 18 and 3 as a professional boxer. His only losses came early in his career in his second fight when he lost to Orlando Salido in 2014 Then he went undefeated for nearly 6 years when he lost to Teofimo Lopez for the lightweight title, then lost again to Devin Haney in 2023 Lomachenko has previously won boxing World Championships in the featherweight and lightweight divisions and gold in the Olympics in both 2008 and 2012. Unfortunately, Lomachenko has had a rollercoaster career the last couple of

years, losing 2 out of his last 5 fights. Last week he showed the world that he is back by defeating George Kambosis junior and reclaiming the IBO and IBF lightweight titles
One week later, May 18, 2024, can easily go down as the greatest day in Ukraine professional boxing history. On this day there were not only one but two Russian born fighters that won a world title in their respective weight class both being from Kiev Russia. It began midday USA, which was prime time in Saudi Arabia when Oleksander Usyk defeated Tyson Fury. Tyson Fury had previously won multiple heavyweight world champions since 2015 and was the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world until he met up with Usyk Tyson Fury had previously gone undefeated in 16 years having only one draw 2018 against the Deante Wilder which
two years later he defeated him by TKO in the 7th round in 2020 and eventually becoming the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world. In my opinion, Usyk was destined to be the heavyweight champion of the world.
Afterwinning the gold medal in the 2012 London Olympics and turning pro he quickly became the cruiserweight undisputed champion of the world. Now he is the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world, making him only the third boxer in the 4 belt era to be undisputed in two different weight classes (cruiserweight and Heavyweight) The first one being Terence Crawford and then the monster Naoya “The Monster” Inoue Later that evening Denys Berinchyk from Ukraine wins the vacant WBO lightweight championship by defeating Emmanuel Navarette by split decision. I must admit, I did not see this one coming. Navarette has previously been 3 division world champion winning titles in junior featherweight and junior lightweight.

He was trying to win his fourth belt in a fourth division but just came up short. Berinchyk won a silver medal in the 2012 London Olympic Games. He is now 19 and 0 with 9 knockouts, this is his first world championship belt for him I feel as if this will not be his last one, he is a great technical fighter Boxing has gone through many eras; I feel as if though now we are just entering the Eastern European era with these Russian born fighters winning world titles With the emergence of the Russian born fighters, winning a world title in the heavyweight Lightweight Divisions you must go through the Ukraine fighters to become world champion.

IT'SABOUTTO GOOOOOOOOOOODOWN!!
I can honestly say I never thought it would turn into an addiction. When I first picked up a microphone at a wrestling show in March of 2001 at the University of Incarnate Word, I had no idea it would take me to thirteen US states, a US Territory, and even a foreign country. I can honestly say I would not trade it for the world and feel like I am just getting started.
My love for boxing began by watching the Rocky movies I thought it was great story telling and of course loved the underdog story Boxing is like theater of the utmost dramatic To play a role in the show is something I have grown addicted to. When you grab a mic, you are telling a story. Also, by growing up in San Antonio, it made me love boxing all the more. I grew up hearing stories of fighters like Tony Ayala Jr., Robert Quiroga, and 'Jesse' James Leija.
I never set out to be the voice, or a ring announcer, it kind of just happened. I honed my craft announcing at local wrestling shows. Along the way I became a boxing journalist with Fightnews.com. For years I tried to announce a professional boxing show, and finally got my first break by announcing for Triple A Promotions in Laredo, Texas under Fito Martinez in August of 2014 I always took it serious, but it took getting the opportunity to announce the US Boxing Olympic Trials 1 in Salt Lake City in December 2018 to take it to the next level. It was the first time I actually had my flight and hotel paid for through an announcing gig. I thought I was living the high life. After that, it has been no looking back.

When I first fell in love with boxing, I can honestly say I never thought I would have been able to say I have worked for promotions owned by Zab Judah, Christy Martin, Virgil Hill, Teresa Tapia, and Mikey Garcia. I could remember watching them on television, so being their voice was very surreal
When an arena full of people react to something I say, well that is a feeling I have fallen in love with I feel like I owe it to the fighters, their camps, and of course the fans to be that part of the show that provides the emotion.
Throughout this journey I have learned so much. It took me a few years to realize that there was so much more to just showing up and reading words off of a card. So much of the craft takes place outside the ring I am proud to say I have learned so much, and that I continue to learn every time I put on my tuxedo
