A LA TECH WIN... • Would give the Bulldogs their 11th win of the season. LA Tech last won at least 11 of its first 13 games in the 2015-16 season. • Would give the Bulldogs a non-conference record of 11-2, their best since the 2015-16 season. • Would give the Bulldogs their fourth straight victory. LA Tech has had multiple four-game winning streaks in 10 of its last 12 seasons. • Would give the Bulldogs their first ever win over Rust College.

BULLDOG STORYLINES & PROJECTED STARTERS

4 SEAN NEWMAN JR.

• Louisiana Tech closes out non-conference play Saturday when the Bulldogs host Rust College inside the Thomas Assembly Center on Karl Malone Court. The Bulldogs enter the contest with a 10-2 record, their best start to the season since 2015. • In a battle of preseason conference favorites, Louisiana Tech defeated Grand Canyon by a final score of 74-66. As a result, the Bulldogs went 2-0 in the CUSA/WAC Challenge this season as they also won at UT Arlington. The team also avenged the threepoint loss to GCU last season in Phoenix.

• The Bulldogs used a 12-0 run to take a 13-point lead over the Lopes with eight minutes to go. GCU would slice the deficit down to one with 3:10 remaining, but LA Tech closed the game out on a 9-2 run to collect its 10th victory of the season.

• LA Tech shot 51.9 percent from the field versus the Lopes, marking the fourth straight game eclipsing 50 percent shooting (first time done since 2018). The Bulldogs are one of only 20 teams in the country shooting over 50 percent from the field this season, ranking 18th at 50.2.

AMAREE ABRAM

• The Bulldogs continued their winning ways at the Thomas Assembly Center. With the victory over GCU, LA Tech has won 176 of its last 200 games in the TAC. They also have an all-time non-conference home record of 210-22.

• Despite foul trouble against GCU, Daniel Batcho was dominant again scoring 19 points on 8-of-11 shooting while also tallying seven rebounds and three blocks. The Bulldog has scored 19+ points in five of his last six games, averaging a team-best 19.4 points per contest. He continues to rank first in the country in field goal percentage (74.3). And with the three rejections, he became the eighth Bulldog in program history to eclipse 100 career blocks. His 34 blocks this season is the second most of anyone in the nation. • Sean Newman Jr. had his best game as a Bulldog, scoring a career-high 25 points to go along with nine assists. The point guard scored or assisted on 17 of LA Tech’s 28 made field goals. In the 9-2 run to close out the game, he scored seven of them and assisted on the other basket to finish off the Lopes. He continues to rank second in the country in both total assists (108) and assists per game (9.0), having recorded at least eight dimes. He also became the fastest Bulldog to reach 100 assists in a season, needing just 12 games to do it (previous record was 14). • Amaree Abram and Kaden Cooper continue to pace LA Tech in the steals category, each totaling 27 this season which is tied for the 19th most in the country. Abram has registered at least one steal in all 12 games this season. • Talvin Hester enters his third season at the helm at LA Tech. In his second year, Hester was able to blend in seven newcomers in route to a 22-win season and a second-place finish in CUSA. He will be tasked with the same thing as seven newcomers join the 2024-25 squad, mixed in with six returners (five of which made a combined 67 starts last season). • LA Tech was picked to finish first in the Conference USA preseason poll, as voted on by the league head coaches. It was definitely not unanimous as five of the 10 conference teams picked up at least one first-place vote and the top three were separated by only four points. This marks the first time since 2014 that the Bulldogs are preseason league favorites.
