Letter from the Editor Dear Readers, This issue nr.30 of Lash Inc. International, the first-in-history professional magazine for eyelash experts, is very special to me. I had a tremendous honour to work on it as I was named the new editor of Lash Inc. International starting this year. I have been creating Lash Inc. Spain for the last three years. Growing up loving poetry and writing among creative people, I love what I am doing. I have been deeply involved in my eyelash and eyebrows career since more than ten years ago, and I am incredibly thankful to many people that marked my way, those who served me as a perfect example both in professional and human aspects.

Louise Tierney, the founder of Lash Inc. business, is one of those important people and has always been my real inspiration. I will try my best to keep the original traditions of the magazine and consistently ensure that the content meets the requirements of the newbies and the most demanding reader within an international lash and brow industry. What I like most about this issue is that we did not overthink it. We let it come together very organically, with the help of the permanent collaborators, as well as some new experts, from all over the world - from Australia, Latino America, the United States up to the United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, and Latvia. We live in the age of communication. Write letters to the editor. I am open to every beauty professional who is willing to be featured in the magazine or to share some knowledge or fresh ideas to contribute to Lash Inc. International. Take your time and enjoy this issue made with so much love, especially for you, my dear colleague!

Fantasy details I've always had a particular eye for detail; my mother told me that since I was just over a year old, even before I could formulate a sentence, I noticed that a little girl next to us had the exact same shoes as me! I pointed to them, formulating verses of surprise, astonished by that important detail, leaving everyone amazed.

hen we observe an image, our mind processes it and together with our emotional baggage we draw the different sensations from it. We hardly focus on every little detail; we tend to see it as a whole from a distant perspective. The peculiarity of a detail is that it often goes unnoticed but it is the set of details that makes an image unique and special. In this regard, I list the evaluation criteria present in the Fantasy Lash Art competitions, a category very well-known and appreciated in the eyelash extension community. In the various international competitions to which I am invited as a judge, I noticed that often the criteria are not fully understood and, in some cases, not even examined, with the consequence that a beautiful project risks losing the necessary score to reach the podium. Considering that it is on the basis of these that one's work is judged, below is an in-depth analysis of some of the criteria (others will follow in the next issue).

Evaluation criteria - Fantasy Lash Art Overall look / General Impression This criterion is generally the first in the list precisely because it relates to the first impression of the work, which is why it is very important to report as the first photo (in the sequence sent) the best shot, the complete work. This criterion has a value of 10 to 15 points.

To obtain a maximum score, various components are fundamental: the theme must be clear, for example, if the subject is "Disney Character", the subject must be recognized at first glance. Photos are very important, invest in a professional photo shoot, your work will be enhanced and in high definition. The colours must be in harmony with each other, balanced and reported throughout the work. Lashes should be the focal point, cool and colourful (not black or brown). Fantasy Lash Art is just that, the mastery of making lashes look spectacular with colour and decoration… everything else is an outline. Lash Styling There are no strict rules in Fantasy Lash Art, there is no need to follow a regular pattern, the lash mapping can be created by you using even exaggerated lengths, volumes and colours. The natural lashes will not be damaged because the set will be removed immediately after the photo shoot, however, care must be taken not to weigh the lashes too much, so as not to drop the eyelid, choose a model with many natural lashes to create a full volume and to better accentuate colours. Create a suitable style for the character, you want to present, also, designed to enhance the model's gaze in a strong and creative way. Send the photos in high definition, in positions where the style used is clearly visible, you could send the scheme of your original mapping noting the various colours used together with the photos Always read the

competition rules carefully and if necessary, contact the organization for any clarification. This criterion has a value of 10 to 15 points Lower Lashes This criterion has a value of 5 points, unfortunately it is often forgotten or only partially implemented. It is necessary to carefully read the rules of the competition in which you want to participate, in some cases it is allowed to add strips already prepared with coloured lashes and decorations instead of extensions to the lower lashes, however the lower lashes must always be considered to avoid reduction of valuable points that could make you miss the podium. Pay attention to cleanliness and direction. If you haven’t participated yet, what are you waiting for? This fantastic Nomination offers many possibilities, your work could be published in the best beauty magazines or used as an advertising poster for a congress or a competition, if nothing else you will have had a wonderful experience and have your magnificent work of art to post on your socials or frame and exhibit in your salon or studio. The ultimate guide to lash mapping There’s much more to being a lash technician than mastering the skill of how to successfully apply extensions to natural lashes. Equally important is the artistry of how to create the perfect shaped set of lashes for each individual client, for which you’ll need to master lash mapping.

ash mapping is a technique for planning which lengths, curls and thicknesses you will use where, in order to create a fabulous set of eyelash extensions with the style and the level of drama that your client desires - and that is also suited to their eye shape and natural eyelashes. We’ll take you through exactly how to do lash mapping - and some popular lash maps

Ask your client to sit still for a minute while you take a good look to assess the following: Eye shape The main eye shapes are round, almond, monolid. Check also for hooded and protruding eyes, and whether they are symmetrical, large or small eyes. Eye angle Their eyes may be straight, slightly upturned, or slightly downturned.

What you'll need for lash mapping • Eyeliner or pencil. This is for mapping on the skin first. • Gel pads. These are placed over the lower lashes while you work. • A coloured pen. This is for marking on the gel pad - you want a colour that will contrast with the eyelashes - red is a good choice. We recommend avoiding black pen if you can as your markings will be harder to spot, but if it’s all you have, place your markers further away from the lashes. • Lash extensions. You’ll need various lengths and curls

Eye-spacing Evenly-spaced eyes have one eye’s width in between each eye. Close-set / narrow-set eyes are closer together than one eye-width, wideset eyes have more than one eye width between them.

What to check before you start lash mapping No doubt your client will have asked you for something in particular. However, first, you need to assess a number of different aspects of your client’s face and eyes to determine whether what they have asked for will suit them, and if it won’t… find out what will!

Natural lash strength Your client may desire very long or very full lashes, but depending on the strength / health of their natural lashes they may not be able to support them. Fine, delicate lashes won't be able to support the weight of 12mm or 13mm length extensions. Natural lash curl The growing direction of natural eyelashes varies between people. Some people have naturally curly lashes while others have quite straight or downward-pointing lashes. Choosing the right lash curls for their lashes will bring out the best in their eyes, and ensure their eyes do not get hidden by lash extensions - or look strange!

Brow shape As they frame the eye, it’s also important to consider the shape of the eyebrows and to select a shaping that will complement it. Face shape Wide faces can carry more dramatic looks on the whole, whereas a very narrow face may look overwhelmed by very long lashes or a wide cat eye. Before beginning the lash mapping process, be sure to consult with your client. See what they want, but be prepared to advise them otherwise if necessary. Longer isn't always better and the style they want may not look best on them. Once you have evaluated your client as above, have a chat with them about the look you are going to create for them. Explain any adjustments that you need to make to what they have asked for, and why. How to create a lash map So you’ve thoroughly assessed your client’s eyes and got a good idea of the design you want to create and made sure your client is on board. Your next job is to make a more detailed plan for how you are going to achieve this. Follow our step-by-step guide: 1. Lash mapping on the skin Instruct your client to sit up straight, with their eyes open and looking straight ahead - not following the motion of your hands. If you attempt to do this with your client lying down, you won’t get an accurate impression of your client’s facial features.

With the client’s eyes open, place dots above where you want the longest lashes to be. Place them either close to the eyebrows or, if lashes and eyelids were washed before mapping, dots can be marked close to the lash line. You can place several dots depending on the style you choose, to mark where the different sections should go. This is a helpful guide for later when the client closes their eyes and you can no longer see the iris or the pupil which are the main indicators you need for lash mapping. To learn more, we recommend our Advanced Online Russian Volume Training Course. 2. Apply eye pads With your client's eyes open, put the gel pads gently in place so they are covering the lower lashes. Press lightly so that the pads will remain in place, but keep the pressure soft - you're working with eyes, after all. Keep eye pads at least 1-2mm from the waterline. 3. Lash mapping on the gel pads Now it’s time for your client to close their eyes. With your coloured pen, exactly mirror the markings you made on the skin on your gel pad. When your client has their eyes closed, you might be tempted to

think that the locations of the dots don’t seem right anymore, for example, the middle of the lash line might not look like it’s at the same point. However, stick with the locations of the dots as what’s important is how it looks when the eyes are open. Now draw lines on the gel pad to plan which extensions you will apply where. You need to divide the area into sections - 5, 6 or maybe more depending on your style and how you have been taught. Jot down the lengths for each section, as well as the curls, if you like, following the style that you have chosen to suit your client. Eyelash extension mapping styles Luckily, there’s no need to re-write the rulebook - there are lots of lash maps already out there to achieve different designs, though you may need to adapt them to suit your client. Cat Eye Lash Map Probably the most popular style out there, Cat Eye lashes start with the shortest lashes at the inner corners, gradually getting longer at the outer corners creating a sexy winged look that extends out. A less dramatic version of this is sometimes called a Kitten Eye.

Squirrel Eye Lash Map Also known as a Flick. Whereas Cat Eye lashes are longest at the outer corners, A Squirrel Eye is longest around two-thirds of the way along the lash line, or at the arch of the brow if brows are perfectly shaped, with lashes tapering slightly shorter again at the outer corner. Doll Eye Lash Map Also known as a ‘Dolly Eye’, this style of lashing is longest above the centre of the eye, and shorter at each corner, giving a rounded, big-eyed look. It can be quite dramatic when used with longer lengths, or very natural looking with shorter lengths when it is known as simply rounded or natural lashes. Kim K Lash Map This style has taken off big time in recent years! It features a base layer of lashes that is interspersed with ‘spikes’ of longer length lashes at regular intervals for a super feminine, glamorous look. Also known as ‘wispy’ lashes. Tips to get started with eyelash mapping The golden rule of working with lashes is that every client is different. Your eyelashes should be as unique as your hairstyle, so there's no point looking for a one size fits all solution. Here we bust some myths, as well as give you some handy hints that will generally always work. • Never go straight to mapping on eye pads. If you skip the first stage of mapping onto the skin with the eyes open you can be sure that the finished look will not look right! • Short to long is not always best. Many eyelash artists start with the idea that they should be going from the shortest to the longest eyelashes as they move from the inner corner of the eye to the outer corner. However, this only looks good on some eye shapes. For example, eyes with a slight downward turn can look droopy or tired if treated like this. • Neither is following the natural lash length. A client’s natural lash shape won’t necessarily look good if all you do is lengthen each lash proportionately. It can make the client look sad or funny - which is the last thing you want! • Longer is not always better. Short lengths can be very effective. Eyelashes that are too long can look too unnatural, and the goal of eyelash extensions is to give a ‘facelift’, enhancing beauty, not imperfections. In some cases, it’s very important to choose extensions that are shorter than the natural lash, especially in the inner and outer corners.

• Take care at the inner corner of the eye. Here, extensions should be close to the natural eyelash length but don’t be afraid of short lengths as they can create an eyeliner illusion. If styled correctly, they can look very long and eye-opening. Also consider thinner diameter extensions such as 0.05, 0.04 or 0.03. If you’re using classic lashes, use the thinnest diameter in the inner and outer corners. For volume or mega volume lashes where most of your set is 4D+, use no bigger than 1 or 2D fans in the corners. • Choose your curls wisely. If the natural lashes are growing in a downward direction then it is best to use CC or D curls for example. Bear in mind that you may need to use different curls on each eye, and across the lash line of the same eye. • Make close-set eyes look further apart. They benefit from length at the outer corners or having the longest lengths at the arch of the brow, which can make the eyes look wider. This doesn’t necessarily mean always choosing a Cat Eye style that’s longest at the very outer edge. Learn more with our Advanced Volume Training Course. • Make wide-set eyes look closer together. Wideset eyes look better with eyelashes that are longer in the middle, such as a Dolly look. • Beware of making almond eyes seem wider. Almond-shaped eyes do not always go well with long eyelashes at the outer corner. The eyelashes should be at their longest about two-thirds of the way along the eye, before shortening slightly again, as in a Squirrel Eye.

Applying lash extensions When you have created your lash map on the eye pads for the desired style, following the initial skin lash map, it’s time to apply the lashes of course! There are many different approaches, so use your preferred technique, whether that be to complete all the extensions on one eye before moving on to the next, (not recommended for beginners), or to move between eyes as you go. You might like to apply the same lash on each eye in turn (great for symmetry!) or to do the first lash from each section on one eye, then do the same on the other. Whichever technique you favour, make sure to graduate the lashes as you move from one section to the next. That means alternating between two different lengths for the space of a few lashes. If you don't do this, then the finished look will be uneven and jarring. It can take time to learn how to apply lashes following a lash map. Don't be disheartened if your initial efforts aren't the best. Remember, all art takes practice to master. Keep going, and you're sure to see better and better results! FAQ What is eyelash extension mapping? Eyelash mapping is the art of planning which lashes you will put where in order to create the desired style, by making markings on the skin and on a gel pad. Proper planning of the design for each unique individual is essential as when done correctly it can hide imperfections, enhance beauty, and give clients confidence. In which area of the eye do you put the longest lashes? The longest lashes are usually placed at the centre of the eye, at the outer corner, or somewhere in between, depending on the style you are following and the shape of your client’s eyes. Are Brown Lashes the next big thing?

What are Brown Lashes? You may have heard of brown lashes as they are becoming increasingly popular amongst the lash community. Just like black eyelash extensions, brown lashes can be used to create Classic, Hybrid & Russian sets. Brown lash extensions are designed to create a natural looking set of eyelashes. The brown pigment mimics a closer shade to natural hairs, this also means growth of the extension on the natural lash is less noticeable. This is ideal for clients who do not have regular infills as the gap is less obvious. Offering brown lashes can attract a larger clientele as you are offering more alternatives. They are also great to attract new clients as you can eliminate the fear of them being ''too much'' for someone's first time having eyelash extensions.

Who would suit Brown Lashes? Brown lashes would suit a variety of clients. Those with naturally brown or red coloured hair and eyebrows would suit brown lashes as it would blend with their features and natural colour palette. Lighter skin tones also suit brown lashes in comparison to black lash extensions, as they would appear less harsh in contrast to their skin colour. This also applies to hair colour; brown lashes would complement fairer shades such as blonde. Many lash technicians choose to apply brown eyelash extensions to mature clients. Natural lashes become more dehydrated and brittle with age meaning your lash line can become sparser. Brown lashes would be more suitable in this instance, as black lashes could emphasise gaps.

Gold Dust Line – Pamper Your Natural Lashes! Eyelash lamination is a type of perm. It is important to understand that without a chemical exposure to the hair structure, lashes won’t hold a curl for longer than 20 minutes.

uring the treatment we use three compositions: the first two are chemical (alkaline and acid), and the third is nutritious ( for moisturizing and care). The main components of the first composition are thioglycolic acid and an ammonia product, which help to open the hair scales and break the bonds of the cortex fibers (the core of the outer part of the hair). As a result, the hair can change and maintain any curl. The second composition is a neutralizer that restores the chemical connections of the cortex fibers, but unfortunately the result is only partial. For the complete restoration of the eyelashes, the use of Botox is necessary, as it provides the additional care. The pros and cons of using pre-made fans and hand made fans The difference between a lash stylist making their own fans or using pre made fans has been a controversial topic for lash artists. Volume lashes offer clientele a fuller and fluffy look. Unlike classic lash extensions, which are applied 1:1 on the natural lash, volume lashes use 2 and even up to 8 of very thin and lightweight eyelash extensions to create a fan by hand to attach to a single natural lash.

ow, due to the rising interest and popularity of the volume look premade fans have become more popular. Pre-made fans are machine cut and come in a tray similar to individual lash extension trays. A note, do not confuse pre-made fans with clusters. Clusters have a larger knot at the base and are meant to be used for 1 night only, taken off and used with temporary glue. Handmade fans are made in real time during the appointment. Mastering the volume lashing technique takes dedication and a lot of practice. The lash stylist has full control of the lashing process from start to finish and it can create a volume fan that is the right length, diameter, and weight for the client’s natural lash. The lash stylists can take eye shape, brow shape, facial features and the client’s desired look into consideration. However, learning proper volume pick-up techniques, “fanning” and adhesive control takes time, effort and lots of practice. In general, we

recommend a 2–3-day course for the volume lashing technique and depending on how many practice hours and clients it can take up to a full year to master the volume lashing technique. Due to the personalized look, mastery of a difficult technique lash stylists can have a higher pricing on their lash menu. Pre-made fans are machine cut and come in a tray similar to the classic/ volume lash extension trays. The bases of the lashes are sealed together to make the fan either using adhesive or heat i.e., glue-bonded or heat-bonded. In turn, you need a permanent adhesive to attach the fan to the natural lash. Pre-made fans come in all sizes, shapes and can range from 2D to 15D and .03 to .07 in thickness! A great use of pre-made fans is to bridge the gap between classic and learning handmade volume fans. Many lash stylists also use a mixture of hand-made fans and pre-made fans to cut down on appointment time. Pre-made fans, however, have flat bases which means it will not wrap around

the natural lash and it will be difficult to have a seamless connection. Stylists must be vigilant of getting a seamless connection so pop off does not occur. You can also have clumping at the base, particularly with glue-bonded fans, as well as sticking to surrounding lashes. Glue-bonded pre-made fans also are heavier which can cause breakage, pop off and will not give a client a “natural” feel. Ultimately, a client’s lashes have a higher risk of damage from gluebonded pre-made fans. We recommend using a heat-bonded pre-made fan. Of the two positions that pre-made fans are secured in their tray we recommend that they are secured at their base, the same way classic extensions are, but to be handled with volume tweezers. This allows maximum flexibility in wetting and applying the fan particularly in the shorter lengths. For the hand-made fans, if your used to a thicker adhesive, we recommend a thinner adhesive but not watery! This will help the fan to form, keep open and wrap around the natural lash seamlessly.

Ultimately, the lash artists skill level and clientele preference will dictate the choice between handmade or pre-made fans. Nicole Flevaris is the founder and president of The Lashe, an eyelash extension products company. Presence championships vs. online championships Dear lash artists, my name is Fernanda Vilela. I’m from Brazil, but I’ve been living in Barcelona, Spain, for almost 12 years. Today I want to explain to you how to take part in a presence championship, which is an exciting experience! We will also talk about online championships, which have become very common especially during the last two years.

t the championship, the judges look closely at all your movements, every angle of your job is important here; this is thrilling and also gives you the opportunity to meet a bunch of people. For those that have not taken part in a championship yet, I want to give you a piece of advice: trust your model, practice as many times as you can with the same person, so that your model feels used to it, feels relaxed and comfortable, and shines beautiful and confident during the event! These are other aspects that you should take into account: • Participating in a championship means that you are there to win, therefore you will have to practice your technique as much as possible. • Keeping calm is important even when the clock counts every second. • I highly recommend you to prepare everything in advance for the day: light, pads, brushes, humidifier, enough lashes for two models – just in case! • Another good advice is to bring 2 or 3 different kinds of adhesive for different humidity, that will ease your work, no matter the environment conditions! • Bring comfortable clothing for you and your model, and also a blanket in case they are cold. • A fundamental step is to read carefully the rules, because each championship has its own regulations and you will need to know what adhesive you can bring, what bends to use, and the maximum and minimum lengths accepted. • Usually there is a photo shoot before presenting the works and an after check-list.

The big question is: Why should I take part in championships? Although the answer is broad, at the same time it is simple: Our everyday clients barely ever see the faults in our work or in our technique, but if you compete in a championship, the jury will judge you as a professional, point on your weak points and help you to grow. If you win a trophy and you are among the best ones, it means that your job is more valuable and therefore you can earn more money – in some cases even you can charge a 100% more than before. Also, I think it is important to be able to work under high pressure (people looking at you, the clock ticking, the noise, etc.). On the other hand, at online championships you have plenty of time to work with your model. This makes the level and the results of your work better, because you are not under the pressure of time. Take a lot of pictures and videos from different perspectives and with a good photo camera. But try to send just the exact number of pics required by the organiser, and always on time! Don’t post anything on your social media before you get the results, it doesn’t matter if you win or if you lose! I warn you, participating in championships it is very addictive, and once you start you won’t be able to stop until you have a shelf full of trophies! I really encourage you to delve into the presence and online championships world. We will probably meet there some day! I wish you all the luck!

Brow lamination is a beauty treatment that shapes and adds definition to your brows, providing a fluffier, fuller, more even look, hiding gaps and giving the illusion of major hair growth. It involves the application of different solutions - one to break down the protein bonds in the hair, making eyebrow hairs more malleable, and another to set them into their new on-trend shape. Step 1 - Have a chat with your client The most important step of eyebrow lamination doesn’t even involve any product! Before you even THINK about laminating your client’s eyebrows, sit down and have a chat with them. You need to learn about what brow styling they want, what their skin type is, what allergies they may have. Always make sure to do a patch test a minimum of 24 hours before the treatment to find out if the client is sensitive to any products involved in the treatment. Step 2 - Clean the brow area Before you apply any product, you need to make sure that you clean the area using foam cleanser. It’s always best to start with a blank canvas before you get started on a work of art! Step 3 - Apply lash and brow lift lotion no 1 Now you’re prepped and ready to go, we can get started! First, we apply the Lash and Brow Lift Lotion No 1. This serum cleverly opens the brow hair cuticles, making them more malleable and much easier to brush into the position you want. How long to leave it on for depends on the client as each person's brow hair is different and it’s vital to get it right for optimal results. Lotion 1 timings are explained and taught at our online brow lamination training courses. Step 4 - Let it do its thing Make sure to cover with Brow Film Wrap and let the lotion work its magic. Leave on for 9-14 minutes depending on the thickness of the hairs, and then remove with a dry cotton bud or sponge applicator.

Step 5 - Shape the brow Next, shape the eyebrow with a mascara brush or spoolie into whatever style your client would like. Read our blog post about laminated brows for some pro styling advice. Choose your active The lash lift industry has boomed over the last decade with many advancements in ingredients, product efficacy and performance.

herapists are wanting the most efficient systems to get the best results in the fastest time, maximising productivity but also exceeding their customer expectations. Many therapists are searching for the holy grail of ingredients, when developing lash lift lotions there is a variety of options that can help achieve the desired results, but they can come at a cost or have challenges. The questions you have to ask are, do we want speed in the application or do we want something that is slower activation, different reduction process and less risk of damaging hair in the process? Rapid processing systems can cause damage to hairs if they are not applied precisely according to the hair texture we work with, so in many cases this means therapists may prefer a slower and gentle system that has less risk of over processing hairs. Most fast systems for lash lifting are using thioglycolate actives and ethanolamine or ammonia for alkalizing properties to help raise the cuticle scales of the hairs to allow the perming agent to activate, but it is also important to use a select combination of emulsifiers such as cetearyl alcohol or glyceryl stearate to give the lotion the viscosity, texture and emollients and oils which add extra moisturising properties to give optimal health and shine to hairs.

There is a misconception in the lash lift industry that thioglycolic acid is more damaging than ammonium thioglycolate, but this is a myth that is not completely accurate. Ammonium thioglycolate is a mixture of thioglycolic acid and ammonium hydroxide and depending on the raw material supplier will give different levels of volume in each blend. For example, 60% strength thioglycolic acid from the supplier may also have 40% water in the volume of mixture, but another supplier can have higher levels or different volumes such as 70% TGA 30% Aqua. These variables of the volume can have an effect on the performance of the product and adjustments of percentages need to be made in the formula to optimise the effectiveness, but there is also quality of raw material that must be considered. To produce ammonium thioglycolate we start with thioglycolic acid and then add MEA /monoethanolamine or ammonium hydroxide to neutralize it, this process changes into the chemical structure ammonium thioglycolate. Besides breaking cross-links, TGA is also corrosive to keratin. The longer the hair stays in solution, the more it will corrode the surfaces. The rate and degree of corrosion is dependent on the concentration and temperature of the TGA (thioglycolic acid) solution. There are many substances that can break the cross links of hair and another alternative to TGA is utilizing CHC

- cysteamine HCL as the perming agent which has some proven advantages when it comes to processing hairs. Each cysteamine molecule reacts with the hair and chemically bonds to it. Each of the NH2 amino groups on the ends are reactive to functionally active sites found inside the hair. When all of the molecules have reacted and become chemically attached, there are none left to continue the reaction, so the process will stop. This will help reduce the chance of over processing lashes. That is also why the concentration in a formula or composition of material matters. The more cysteamine in the solution, the more that is available to react and the opposite is also true.

The movement with brands like Olaplex which uses bis-aminopropyl diglycol dimaleate or other brands such as Elleeplex Re-Gen contains BIS-4-PCA Dimethicone and amino acids which works to repair the hydrogen bonding of hair on a molecular level during the perming or colouring process. These actives have helped to revolutionise the lash lift process and give our clients every chance of achieving no damage lifts during the bond reduction process. The benefits of this are better outcomes for our clients, lashes that grow out nicely after a few weeks and that look healthy and it avoids the damaged “dry” looking effect that some people will experience after the lifting process. There have also been some excellent developments over the years with bond repair technology, as many lash lifters understand, disulphide bonds are broken down when a chemical or structural change occurs by adding a hydrogen atom to each of the sulphur atoms in the disulphide bonds. With the disulphide bonds broken, the polypeptide chains are able to slip into their new shape. The broken disulphide bonds are reformed through the neutralization of the perming compound used to break them. The neutralization process utilizes hydrogen peroxide and this chemical process removes the hydrogen atoms and reforms the disulphide bonds which is called the process of oxidation.

illumino relocates to Las Vegas Inventor of the Patented Lynk-Gel Method is Moving to Las Vegas

llumino, the lash extension company that has brought many innovations to the lash world, is relocating its headquarters from California to Nevada. They have set their sights on Las Vegas for its convenience to trade shows, ease for students traveling for trainings, and the city’s fast-growing infrastructure. The company is sad to see the end of its Oakland location, and leaving the Bay Area is especially hard for its CEO, Soo-Jin, who was born and raised in the Bay Area her whole life. “It’s hard to leave, but it’s best for the company’s growth,” says Soo-Jin about their upcoming move. The company hopes that Vegas will bring them new opportunities. In Las Vegas, illumino will open its doors, offering students a shopping experience for

lash products and take hands-on training in three different extension styles. The company will be offering services with a team trained in the Lynk-Gel Method and a selection of other spa services. In addition, the new Las Vegas location will expand its reach to lash trainers from all over the world who can fly in and take part in illumino’s education.
