ENSURING WATER QUALITY WITH A TURBIDITY CONTROL SOLUTION

When a European drinking water services provider needed state-of-the-art instruments for the monitoring and management of water quality in its surface water collection process, they turned to Chemitec for a dedicated solution.

The equipment was required for multiple installations in the Livorno region of western Italy, a coastal area susceptible to extreme weather conditions such as prolonged heavy rainfall and storms.

CLOSELY MONITOR TURBIDITY

These severe weather events cause pollution and debris suspended in runoff water from roads, pavements and storm drains to enter source water and cause high turbidity values.

Therefore, for this new installation, the operator wanted the ability to closely monitor turbidity in order to identify contamination and control water quality.

Meanwhile, the company had previously experienced a high maintenance requirement for its pre-treatment sample system and wanted to improve this aspect as part of the installation works.

Chemitec, with a global reputation for delivering tailored water-monitoring solutions, was approached to design a panel-mounted turbidity measurement system to a precise specification.

Working in close collaboration with the customer, Chemitec carried out a full assessment of the site and process in order to recommend the ideal solution. After a comprehensive analysis of the operator’s requirements, Chemitec selected for the heart of the system its 50 Series controller, an intuitive device capable of automatic sensor recognition, up to four simultaneous measurements and capacity for as many as 250,000 records in tabular and graphical form.

ALL INSTRUMENTS EASILY ACCESSIBLE

For the measurement of turbidity, Chemitec included its S46IN nefelometric sensor along with an S411 DIG conductivity sensor and integrated debubbler system. These instruments were all mounted within a ready-to-install panel to enable the customer to fit the system quickly and easily and begin to benefit from its features immediately.

And with all instruments easily accessible, maintenance is now fast and efficient as Chemitec once again provides a comprehensive solution to the customer’s precise specification.
