Principal Ideas Hello. It is May. It is unbelievable to me that we have arrived at the last month of school; this year has absolutely sped by for me. I am sure many of you, especially the parents of our seniors, feel much the same way.
Courtney R. Kassakhian Principal
Because of Easter Break, there were only two full weeks of school in April, but we still managed to fit in a lot of activity. Prior to break we, of course, had our annual Grandparents Day event. The Dining Hall was packed with 119 of our students who were joined by more than 200 grandparents. They were all treated to performances from students in our Arts and Media department, as well as presentations by our Academic Decathlon and Speech and Debate teams. Thank you to the many, many parents who helped make the day possible by setting up the Dining Hall the evening before or helping out the day of the event. We could not host an event this large and this successful without the help of our parents!

Over the Easter break our debaters traveled to the Tournament of Champions in Kentucky and had great success. Out of 120 National Champions, Jackie Henley and Sebastian Dunbar, both seniors, made it to octofinals (top 16). Moreover, Jackie got the 3rd best speaker award overall. This is the first time a La Salle debater has cracked the top 10 speakers! Huge congratulations to our students and their coaches, Ms. Elizabeth Meerson and Mr. Jeff Niemiec.
Student Life Election
We then finished out the month with Student Life Election Week beginning April 29. Congratulations to our newly elected officers, especially our new Student Body President Miguel Lanza.
Arts and Media
Even though May is our last month of school, it is not a time when we begin to slow down. The month brings many opportunities to celebrate the wonderful work of the students in our Arts and Media department. On May 4 we will Principal continued on page 2
