LSC Rules & Regulations for Tennis
Responsibility
It is the responsibility of the tennis playing members to ensure that our tennis rules and regulations work. Occasionally each of us will require a reminder or an interpretation of these regulations and that responsibility resides with our Tennis Pro and Tennis Staff. Your cooperation is appreciated.

Overseeing all our tennis activities is the LSC Tennis Board Liaison. If you have any suggestions or questions regarding any of our LSC tennis activities, please address them to the Board Tennis Liaison at the Shore Club via either writing, via e-mail (secretary@larchmontshoreclub.org) or through the Tennis Staff.
WHO CAN PLAY?
Any duly registered member who has paid tennis dues is eligible to play. There are two categories of tennis members:
SENIOR:
Member and spouse, and Member’s children who are 17 years of age on or before August 15, but not more than 32 years of age on or before January 1, of the tennis season in question. However, please note that, in accordance with LSC Bylaws, Members’ children between the ages of 27 and 32 (as determined on Jan. 1 of the year of the tennis season) can be on a Member’s House Card and are thus eligible to be Senior tennis members only if they are unmarried and permanently reside with the Member.
JUNIOR:
Member’s children who are 9 years of age before January 1, and 16 years of age before August 15, of the tennis season in question.
COURT ACCESS Playability
The first concern is whether the courts are playable. This decision is up to our Tennis Pro and Tennis Staff, who are charged with making sure our courts are in good condition. They alone are the arbiters of appropriate use please respect their decision.
Hours Of Operation
Courts 1, 2 and 3 may not be used before 7:00 am, and courts 4 and 5 may not be used before 8:00 am. All courts close at 8:30 pm.
Organized Events
Tournaments, MITL matches, club events and Camp use will receive priority over individual play, but only for their designated courts and court time. The Tennis Staff will make every effort to schedule all these events outside of prime playing times and to notify you if your reservation has been affected.
Seniors Priority
• Senior tennis members generally have priority on all courts.
• Senior tennis members may reserve court time to play with Junior tennis members between 1 pm and 5 pm weekdays and after 4 pm on weekends and holidays on Courts 3 and 5.
• When there are free courts available, our Tennis Pro and Tennis Staff will offer access to Junior tennis members, subject to rescheduling should Seniors choose to play. The Tennis Pro and Tennis Staff will define and enforce this practice.
Court Reservations
• Remembering the priorities defined above, Tennis Members can reserve courts online no earlier than one day prior to playing. Reservations may only be made online beginning at 8:00a.m.forthefollowingdayand are always on a first-come first-served basis. See page 8 for instructions for Online Reservations
• Please note that reservations can be made only by Senior tennis members.
• When making a reservation for doubles, the names (first and last) of at least 3 players for the reserved time must be entered. The fourth name must be added within one hour of the initial sign-up. All other players must be available for the time reserved at the time the reservation is made.
• Please do not sign tennis members up who have not yet agreed to play in your game. They may try to reserve on their own and not be able to get a court.
• Only one reservation may be made in your name at a time, which includes being part of another person’s reservation.
• If your name appears on the online system signup sheet, you are not permitted to reserve another court that day until you complete play under your original reservation.
