By directing power as needed, the Bossengineered SolarFlow electrical system consumes as little energy as possible while still providing all the functions needed in a high-end welfare unit. All items operate from 12V battery power, so can be powered purely from solar energy.

BUILD BACK GREENER

A tiny 2.3kVA generator is installed as backup if necessary to charge the battery during periods of extreme low light. This runs on HVO biofuel meaning that even if it does run, you are still using energy from a renewable source which cuts CO2 emissions by up to 90%. Furthermore, this generator can be fitted with DOC and DPF exhaust filters to reduce any emissions to even lower levels.

Boss Cabins supports the construction industry’s move to a Zero Carbon future with launch of Deep Green 2030 welfare

business finance, with the launch of new ESG-related loans with interest rates tagged to environmental performance markers.

With this month’s COP26 Climate Change meeting of global leaders in Glasgow, the focus of the world is firmly back on the environment and how to move rapidly towards a Zero Carbon future. The construction industry, like all other global industries, is under increasing pressure to do its part to become more sustainable and become Net Zero carbon at the very latest by the European-set deadline of 2050.

In line with this unstoppable and very welcome transition towards a more ecofriendly future for construction, UK welfare manufacturer Boss Cabins has launched its new Deep Green 2030 range of welfare products. As the name implies, this range is designed to help welfare users to speed up the rate at which they achieve their zero-carbon target by providing a welfare solution that is zero carbon in operation, almost entirely powered by solar energy and completely fossil-fuel free.

Boss Cabins’ Managing Director James Kearsey states: “In field tests, we are finding that due to the combination of our ultraefficient electrical system with high-yield solar panels, our cabins can operate virtually entirely from solar energy. Users can see it for themselves via our our SolarTrack energy monitoring system. They can get 24 hour remote access to transparent information showing exactly what their energy usage is and what source it derives from.”

Boss Cabins’ Managing Director, James Kearsey, says: “We developed the Deep Green 2030 range to give the welfare industry a product that truly reduces environmental impact while not sacrificing any of the performance you expect from a Boss welfare cabin.

Deep Green welfare units and toilets incorporate a unique rain harvesting and grey water recycling system. UV-sterilised rainwater is used for hand-washing and then recycled to flush the toilets. Other water-saving features are micro flush toilets and waterless urinals. Together, these innovations reduce significantly the need for service visits and their incumbent environmental and financial costs. The telemetry system also monitors water, waste and fuel levels remotely meaning service visits can be planned precisely with no wasted trips.

Most of the world’s leading construction companies have announced their Zero Carbon strategies already and set various dates for when they hope to achieve this. The faster companies can prove that are making the shift to Zero Carbon, the faster they can improve their ESG (Environment, Social and Governance) scores, an increasingly important factor for shareholders and investors. ESG scores are now even being considered when securing

“We’ve incorporated sustainability targets on many different levels - carbon neutral operation; renewable energy; virtually zero emissions; minimal water use; low waste; longlasting build and materials; high recyclability - and we really do believe we have created the world’s most sustainable welfare range. “We are extremely excited that with this new range, we will be helping to make worksites much greener and less environmentally damaging places.” 100% RENEWABLE ENERGY The Deep Green range draws almost all its energy requirements from the sun. The cabins are fitted with a raft of roof-mounted high-spec solar panels, lithium ion batteries and a smart energy monitoring system which shows at all times exactly how much energy the cabins are generating and using and from what source.
