Our History
Established in 1985, the Park Foundation acts to support the City of La Porte Park and Recreation Department in promoting, improving and creating parks. The 501(c)(3) foundation strives to educate the community and visitors about the City's parks.
For four decades, the La Porte City Park Foundation has been the silent stewards of La Porte's natural beauty, quietly working to ensure our La Porte City parks remain vibrant, accessible and cherished by all who call this city home.

2013: Funded new playground equipment at Hastings
Park.
(Will be renovated in 2025!)


2015:
Funded renovated playground at Lions Field in Soldiers Memorial Park.
Installed new LED scoreboards in Kesling Park.


2016:
Funded The Reuben Eversman Concession Stand/Restroom Building.

Funded new playground at Allesee Park.
Constructed sitting wall at Warsaw Park.


2017:
Put up Christmas Display Lights in Foundation Square
Funded Generation Swings at
Stone Lake Beach, Fort La Play
Porte, and Lindewald Park


2015-2018: Installed a fishing pier at Kiwanis-Teledyne Park.
Contributed funding toward new LED lights at Thrills N Spills Skate Park campaign
Established an endowment for the newly-constructed Unity Park.


Funded two replacement play structures at Stone Lake Beach.


2019: Contributed funding toward the renovation of Fort La Play Porte campaign.


2020:
Contributed funding to the expansion of the Dennis F. Smith Amphitheater.
Funded new play structures at Clarke and Hastings parks.
Installed concrete stairs at Fox Park.

Contributed funding toward Kesling Park Pickleball and Tennis Court Renovation Campaign.


2021: Launched Rent.Fun kayak rentals at Stone Lake.
Rebranded and installed new panels on the Park Office sign on Pine Lake Avenue, and replaced the interior ballast with LED lights for night illumination.



2021 (continued): Improved the Dennis F. Smith Amphitheater with stamped concrete in the new plaza, painting the structure, and installing new LED stage lights.
Replaced shingles on Clarke Park buildings with materials funded by the Foundation, completed by the La Porte High School Building Trades.


2022: Sponsored the Downtown La Porte Ice Rink.
Funded spreading of 245 tons of sand on Stone Lake Beach.
Replaced the Ben Rees Park play structure.
Renovated the Stone Lake Beach House.
Reconstructed the Soldiers Memorial Park shelter destroyed by storms.


2023: Funded ADA-compliant paths to Stone Lake Beach.
Installed new basketball goals at Fox Park.
Funded the Kesling Park Walking Trail renovation.


2024: Funded native and invasive plant assessments for Craven Pond.
Funded launching piers for the kayak program.
Hosted Inaugural Golf Outing raising over $10,000.
Hosted Inaugural Picnic Under the Stars fundraising event
