editor’s letter Dear Readers, The Issue you’re going to explore is a Special Edition dedicated to the creations of some young, talented Sicilian Fashion Designers from Fine Arts Academy in Catania (Sicily).

They are young, pretty and determinate. This year, they’re going to complete a journey started three years ago, which I interestingly followed since its inception.

Last May, such a journey reached its apex, when these young designers showcased their creations at ONE 2019, an event that truly represents them.

ONE 2019 was the third edition of an event that started in 2017 and is not ending here of course! New editions will be hosted in the upcoming years, onboarding new talents into the Fashion Design Industry.

On the next pages, Prof. Sabina Albano will highlight the essence and the meaning of ONE. Sabina is a passionate professor of the Applied Arts Design Department/Fashion Design School at Fine Arts Academy in Catania, who enthusiastically joined my initiative.

I was honored to work with her making this special issue focused on some of her students.

Before concluding, let me first thank the girls we are featuring in this issue, as well as all the other colleagues, boys and girls, who are going to finish their studies this year.

“To all of you, I wish to say: this moment you have reached is not the mere ending of your journey, but the starting point of what is going to be your future artistic and professional career. Be passionate about everything you will do. Good luck!”

Everything contributes to the dialogue with the world we’re living in.

Such is the product from the first Three-Year classes of Fashion Design School: a successful challenge.

Risen as an experiment, it skyrocketed to success.

The young designers, the Fashion Creators were a fertile ground: they struggled as they faced the inevitable and yet blessed challenges.

From the first to the third year: at the Graduation Show!

Everything was possible. Determination builds beyond desire and dreams. The Crew has won.

The courage of being contemporary is the urge to keeping our gaze fixed on the darkness of our Age and perceiving its light.

Where you are, it could become the center of the World!

ONE has been a succesful experiment.

Fashion – as conceived, designed and made – went on stage at the Ecs Dogana in Catania.

ON STAGE That artistic language, so much debated but undoubtedly relevant to our Contemporaneity, was built by the students from the Fine Arts Academy in Catania for the Graduation Show 2019.

Such young creative minds encoded their alphabet: as raw, refined, multifaceted, contrasting as their different and conflicting personalities.

When it comes to fashion, it’s all about how we perceive the World. Art and Fashion translate the feelings of every artist, every Fashion Creator.

The young designers from the Fashion Design School showcased their visions.

Unique, shining, sometimes conflicting Capsule Collections; Art, however, is made of contrast: it strikes and fascinates, as we know.

Berber atmospheres, Burned lands, Skies saturated by the Sun, Livid Black and Fluo Yellow, Dark Supermarkets. Trends, innovation, contrast.
