SUMMER

Summer in Lapland is defined by light. From early June until early July, the sun remains above the horizon in Rovaniemi, creating nearly 24 hours of daylight. Even after the Midnight Sun period ends, the nights stay pale and luminous well into August. Days feel open and unhurried, with little distinction between morning, evening and night.

Temperatures are generally mild, but Arctic weather can change quickly Daytime temperatures typically range from around +10°C to +25°C, with July usually the warmest month. Cooler evenings, wind and short rain showers are common, especially near the river.

The landscape is green and fully awake Forests, open water and long daylight create ideal conditions for river activities, nature walks, outdoor dining and evenings beside the fire. Toward the end of August, darkness gradually returns, and the first Northern Lights may become visible under clear skies.

Guests should prepare for changing conditions. Light layers, comfortable outdoor shoes and a waterproof jacket are recommended Sunglasses and sun protection are useful throughout the season, even late in the day. Insect repellent may also be needed during warm, still periods in June and July.

At Aino, summer follows the rhythm of the island: light across the water, quiet in the forest and evenings that seem to continue without end

There are moments that need no schedule. Only a quiet place, something carefully prepared, and time shared without interruption.

The Aino Moments Picnic for Two is a curated outdoor dining experience inspired by Lapland and the Finnish archipelago. Presented in a beautifully arranged picnic basket, it brings together local ingredients, northern flavours and familiar seasonal comforts, prepared for you to enjoy anywhere on the island.
