Insurance is an important way to protect yourself and your loved ones in case of a disaster or accident. During the pandemic, insurance companies allowed customers additional time to make premium payments. However, many carriers no longer honor grace periods for payments made after the policy expiration date.

If your insurance company doesn’t receive your payment at least one day before your policy renewal date, they may reject your payment and cancel your policy. Then you’ll need to apply for a new policy with a higher premium. Insurance carriers control this directly, so agents aren’t able to make exceptions.

TO AVOID INSURANCE POLICY DISRUPTIONS/CANCELLATIONS

Review policy renewal dates and payment schedules

If you mail your payment, allow more than a week for U.S. Postal Service delays

Submit payments well before the renewal date
