n las tierras andinas es una creencia común que en los meses secos la tierra se encuentra especialmente receptiva a ofrendas, y entre ellos agosto es quizá el más importante. El cronista mestizo Guamán Poma de Ayala describe en 1615, los rituales que tenían lugar en el imperio inkaico, mostrando que en el Chacrayapuy Quilla o Agosto se comenzaba el trabajo de arado para la siembra, que venía acompañado de ofrendas, fiestas y dedicatorias. Estas ofrendas tenían la función de alimentar a la tierra que, fortalecida, podría devolver en reciprocidad producción abundante en forma de alimentos. Todas estas ideas tienen relación con el concepto de Pachamama o Madre Tierra, aunque en realidad no consta que el término haya sido empleado antes del arribo de los europeos. El Padre Ludovico Bertonio, que releva en 1612 gran parte del vocabulario aymara, no consigna el término Pachamama, lo que ha permitido a algunos investigadores sugerir que la Madre Tierra es una mezcla de conceptos entre la Virgen María y los espíritus locales de la agricultura. Otra pista al respecto es que en algunos lugares la tierra también es llamada Wirjina (Virgen). Como fuese, la Pachamama se ha convertido en una deidad mayor de los andinos. Bebidas con alcohol y una serie de dulces, grasa, plantas aromáticas, hilos y papeles coloridos e incluso fetos de llama o sullus son componentes usuales de la mesa u ofrenda que le regalamos para asegurar nuestro bienestar y prosperidad.

I
n the Andean highlands is a common belief that during the dry months, the ground is especially receptive to offerings and August is perhaps the most important. The mestizo chronicler Guaman Poma de Ayala described in 1615, rituals taking place in the Inka Empire, showing that plow work for sowing began in Chacrayapuy Quilla or August, which was accompanied by offerings, parties and dedications. These offerings had the purpose of feeding the earth which, strengthened, could return in reciprocity abundant production in forms of food. All these ideas are related to the concept of Pachamama or Mother Earth, although, in fact, there’s no evidence that the term has been used before the arrival of Europeans. Father Ludovico Bertonio, relieving in 1612 much of the Aymara vocabulary, doesn’t consign the term Pachamama, which has allowed some researchers to suggest that Mother Earth is a mixture of concepts between the Virgin Mary and the local spirits of agriculture. Another clue to this is that in some places the earth is also called Wirjina (Virgin). Anyways, the Pachamama has become an Andean major deity. Alcoholic beverages and a variety of candies, fat, aromatic plants, threads and colorful papers and even llama fetuses or sullus are usual components of the table or offering that we give to ensure our well-being and prosperity.

os afectados, es una novela boliviana que trata sobre la familia alemana Ertl, quienes vivieron en nuestro país tras la II Guerra Mundial.
La mencionada obra de literatura, fue una inspiración para el director boliviano de cine Juan Carlos Valdivia, quien junto a Hasbún autor de “Los afectados”, manifestó en la feria internacional del Libro en La Paz, estar investigando sobre la familia Ertl. En complementación a dicha obra, decidió realizar un film, destacando lo épico y lo íntimo que existió en la familia Ertl, la cual estaba conformada por Hans, su esposa y sus tres hijas, una de ellas llamada Mónika, quien también llevo una vida de novela pues militó a un grupo subversivo seguidor del Ché, fue asesina del cónsul boliviano en Hamburgo, Roberto Quintanilla por haber ordenado cercenar las manos del Che Guevara, por lo que fue la mujer más buscada de América. La hermana de Mónika es Beatrix quien vive en La Paz.

Hans el padre fue un alpinista reconocido mundialmente, camarógrafo, fotógrafo, escritor, corresponsal en la campaña del mariscal Erwin Rommel en África y un explorador que buscó en las selvas bolivianas el Paititi, la supuesta ciudad pérdida de los Incas. Hasbún, el autor de la novela por su parte aclara no tener ninguna expectativa de que la película sea leal al libro porque, si lo fuese, sería desastrosa. De lo contrario espera que Juan Carlos Valdivia traicione de cierta forma el texto. Cabe recalcar que el director de cine Valdivia dirigió los largometrajes Jonás y la Ballena Rosada (1996, adaptación de la novela de José Wolfango Montes), American Visa (2005, adaptación de la novela de Juan de Recacochea), Zona Sur (2009) e Yvy Maraey (2013), siendo entonces “Los afectos” el tercer proyecto cinematográfico que realizará el cineasta en base a una novela boliviana, dejándonos en una ansiosa espera.

T
he affected, is a Bolivian novel inspired on a German family, the Ertls, who came to live in our country after World War II.
The book mentioned was an inspiration for the Bolivian film director Juan Carlos Valdivia, who together with the author of “The Affected”, Hasbun, stated in the International Book Fair in La Paz, he was doing some research on the Eartls. Complementing such novel, he decided to make a film, highlighting the epic and the intimacy of the Eartl family, that was conformed by Hans, his wife and three daughters, one of them called Monika, who had lived a novel herself since she had been a militant of Che Guevara, and assassinated the Bolivian consul Roberto Quintanilla in Hamburg. The consul had ordered to mutilate the Che Guevara`s hands. Monika became the most wanted woman in America. Monika`s sister Beatriz lives in La Paz.
Hans, the father, was a worldwide renowned alpinist, cameraman, photographer, writer, correspondent in the Erwin Rommels African Campaign and a explorer who searched in the Bolivian jungle for the Paititi, the so called lost city of the Incas. The author of the novel, Hasbun, acknowledges he does not expect the movie to be faithful to the book; otherwise it would be a flop. On the other hand he expects the director Juan Carlos Valdivia to betray in some way the text itself. It is important to mention that Juan Carlos Valdivia has directed films such as “Jonas y la ballena rosada” (Jonas and the pink whale) Directed in 1996 adapted from the novel of Juan Recacochea. “Zona sur” 2009, and YvyMaraey 2013. The affected will be the third Project in Valdivia’s film career based on a Bolivian novel, and we are anxiously awaiting for its release.

GUSTU CELEBRA LA SEGUNDA GRADUACION EN FORMACIÓN GASTRONÓMICA

USTU, aparte de ser un restaurant de reconocido prestigio a nivel nacional e internacional, es un Colegio de Especializaciones Gastronómicas, que brinda capacitación de alto nivel de manera gratuita a jóvenes entre los 18 a 28 años de edad, que poseen la habilidad y el deseo de iniciar un camino en el mundo de la gastronomía. Su método de enseñanza se basa en una metodología de “aprender haciendo”, brindando a los estudiantes la infraestructura y los recursos para poner en práctica lo aprendido en el mismo restaurant. Con el objetivo de complementar la formación de estos jóvenes ya graduados, GUSTU ha suscrito un acuerdo con el Banco Mercantil Santa Cruz y la Universidad Católica Boliviana San Pablo (UCB), para viabilizar la

capacitación gratuita de sus graduados en áreas que complementen su formación con la carrera a nivel Técnico Superior Universitario en Emprendimiento de la UCB, (única en Bolivia) como parte del programa “Puedes crear Emprendedores” que lleva ya 4 años beneficiando a jóvenes de todo el país. Con este convenio, se incorporan al programa los jóvenes de las dos generaciones de graduados de Gustu, siendo 11 los favorecidos para estudiar la carrera a Nivel Técnico Universitario en Emprendimiento, complementando y fortaleciendo de esta manera sus capacidades para seguir el generoso lema de GUSTU: “cambiar el mundo a través de la comida”.

EL VALLE DE LA LUNA THE MOON VALLEY

eil Amstrong fue un astronauta estadounidense y el primer ser humano que pisó la Luna, quien en una visita a la ciudad de La Paz el año 1969, bautizó a este hermoso atractivo natural de la ciudad como el “Valle de la Luna”, pues apreció la gran similitud del paisaje con la luna. El Valle de la Luna es una formación rocosa que se encuentra a unos 10 kilómetros del centro de La Paz, es una sección donde la erosión ha consumido la parte superior de una montaña. No siendo el suelo sólido, si no, arcilla en vez de roca, con el transcurso de los siglos los elementos han creado una obra de arte algo diferente como un desierto de estalagmitas, parecida a otra zona de La Paz, conocida como el Valle de las Ánimas. Existen varios senderos que llevan al corazón del valle, desde los que se puede apreciar magníficos panoramas de la Cordillera, también se puede observar lagartijas y viscachas, esta última es una especie típica de la fauna andina. El punto de información turística al ingreso proporciona datos de la historia geológica del área y de los circuitos internos. El ingreso tiene un costo de 3 bolivianos.
Rumbo hacia el Valle de la Luna también se encuentra el “Cactario”, a través de senderos de piedra y puentes colgantes se puede apreciar más de 32 especies de cactus nativos en su ambiente natural, éste jardín brinda paisajes grandiosos de las formaciones rocosas del sitio y de la Muela del Diablo.

Heading to the moon valley we can appreciate the “Cactario”, a hiking adventure through rocky paths and hanging bridges from where you can see more than 32 species of native cactus in their natural environment, this incredible site is surrounded by majestic rocky formations and you can have a glance of the “Devil´s Tooth”.

FESTIJAZZ – ntre el 8 y el 26 de septiembre se llevará a cabo uno de los más esperados eventos de música, “Festival Internacional de Jazz” en 6 ciudades del país, entre ellas La Paz, se contará con la participación de 10 grupos extranjeros y 30 nacionales. Además que los artistas dictarán talleres en diferentes urbes como La Paz, El Alto, Cochabamba, Santa Cruz, Sucre y Tarija, desarrolladas en diversos espacios como teatros, centros educativos y otros espacios abiertos. Festijazz La Paz Fecha: entre el 8 y el 18 de septiembre con ocho agrupaciones internacionales. Lugar: Teatro Municipal Alberto Saavedra Pérez (Genaro Sanjinés esq. Indaburo) Thelonious Jazz Club (20 de Octubre 2172) Feria Dominical de las Culturas. Teatro Nuna (calle 21 de Calacoto 8509) Auditorio del Monoblock de la UMSA (Plaza del Bicentenario), donde se llevarán a cabo dos presentaciones gratuitas.
También estarán presentes: Phoenix Big Band de Alemania que inaugurará el evento en Santa Cruz; Trío Baru de Brasil, Beselch, Rodríguez Quartet de España, Elio Villafranca de EEUU, Gilles Parodi & Laurent Zeller de Francia, Tierra Cuatro de Japón, PeruJazz de Perú y Scharli, Moreira y Feigenwinter de Suiza. Entre los músicos bolivianos estarán presentes: Efecto Mandarina, Carlos Fischer Power Quartet y Sanjines13-Villanueva-Casanovas, este último grupo con integrantes bolivianos y brasileños. Este festival es un anticipo de la programación para el Festijazz 2017 que cumplirá 30 años de existencia y desde ahora esta siendo planificado en grande.
