Art with Animation (QQI Level 5

The Art with Animation course offers students the opportunity to explore the animation industry and to develop skills needed for this area. Alongside the fundamental skills such as drawing, painting and sculpture learners will also study subjects specific to animation and industry. The student will complete this course with a comprehensive range of skills and a professional portfolio of work, for application to third level colleges.

Students also get the opportunity to travel to Florence on the annual trip. Art Students will also take part in a graduate exhibition at the Dunamaise Art Centre in Portlaoise

Who should apply for this course? This course is suitable for Learners who have an interest in developing their art skills and wish to develop their understanding and skills of animation. We also welcome learners who wish to prepare their portfolio for application to Art & Design Colleges.

Progression Options Students who successfully complete this Level 5 course may have the option to continue their studies at the Centre, progressing to our QQI Level 6 Advanced Certificate in Art.

Students can apply to any third level art course to further their studies. Degrees in Animation are currently offered by LSAD, AIT and IADT. Entry Requirements • Leaving Certificate or equivalent standard of education. • Abbeyleix FETC welcomes applications from mature students. • Applicants are assessed on relevant life and work experience. • Successful completion of interview and online assessment. • Applicants are requested to present samples of their work. • Good drawing skills are essential.

Cost There are no registration or tuition fees payable to Abbeyleix Further Education and Training Centre. However, please note the cost of materials is approximately €200 to include Art Pack and materials. Cost of trip to Florence approx. €550-€600.
