Westside Neighborhood Association - Attend a Meeting! The Westside Neighborhood Association (WNA) Board of Directors meets the third Wednesday of each month at 7:00 pm in the Letts Community Center located at 1200 W. Kalamazoo in Lansing. All Westside neighbors are welcome to attend these meetings. Join us as we, together, shape the future of our neighborhood. We look forward to meeting you! Westside Traditions: 16th Annual Home Tour!

Fall 2010

Capital Area District Library

Join your friends and neighbors for the 16th Westside Traditions Home Tour on Sunday, October 3, 2010 from 1 to 5 p.m. and will feature eight unique Westside homes. These homes represent the beauty and diversity that has become the signature of the Westside neighborhood.

The Capital Area District Library offers free events, including computer classes, book discussions, author tours and story times. Go to www.cadl.org and click on the Online Event Calendar button. You can view events by type, library branch and date.

Tickets are $15 each and can be purchased the day of the event after 12:45 pm at Lansing Fire Station #7. Tickets can be purchased in advance at the Mole Hole (4756 Marsh Rd., Okemos), October Moon Art Gallery & Gift Boutique (1209 Turner St., Lansing), Roberts Wallpaper and Paint

Reliable Health Information – The Health and Wellness Resource Center is a great first stop for health information. It includes articles from medical journals and medical reference books. Go to www.cadl.org and enter Health and Wellness Resource Center in the search site box at the top right.

Once you have a ticket, which is contained in our informative Home Tour booklet, you are welcome to begin the tour at any home. You may walk the tour route or board a bus for transport to all stops. Bus service is being generously provided by Dean Transportation of Michigan. While on the Tour, you can take a break and enjoy a fascinating assortment of antique cars, as well as have refreshments provided by Westside Biggby’s, at Dinsmore Circle off Westmoreland. Be sure to stop for a beverage or a treat! Proceeds from the tour benefit Advent House Ministries, as well as helping support the delivery of the Westsider newsletter. Corporate sponsors are Dean Transportation, Lansing Board of Water & Light, Public Sector Consultants, and Westside Biggby’s. The Lansing State Journal – People will find older articles that they want on www.lsj.com but there is a fee to get them. With your library card these articles are FREE. You can even get them at home. Go to our home page and in the search box at the top right enter Lansing State Journal and click the News and Newspapers link. Click the first Lansing State Journal link under Databases. Our public library system offers an abundance of free resources and information, along with a great selection of books, music and videos. Stop into any branch to learn more!

Deadlines for article and ads are as follows: February 28; May 31; August 31; & November 30 News articles and announcements will be printed as space and time allow. The newsletter is delivered to about 1,800 Westside households, about one month after the submission deadline. All articles for upcoming events should refer to dates at least one month after the submission deadline. Contact Danielle Casavant by email dcasavant@ameritech.net for more information. Be sure to put “Westsider” as the email subject. Ads must be e-mailed to Danielle in JPG, BMP or TIF format.
