Library members aged 3 to 17 can log time spent reading books on special bookmarks or the Beanstack App! For every 2 hours of reading logged collect a lucky dip prize, maximum of 1 per day, from any Lane Cove Library branch, and receive an entry into our end of summer prize draw!

Celebrate Australia Day by learning about native animals and plants. We’ll read a story and go on a bushwalk along Lane Cove River to discover the sights and sounds of summer! We’ll finish with some Aussie nature craft. Suitable for ages 3-12.

Lane Cove Council presents Australia Day Sunday 26 January, from 8:00am The Canopy and Lane Cove Plaza

Kick-start your Australia Day at The Canopy as we welcome Lane Cove’s newest Citizens in this special Citizenship ceremony from 8:00am. Hear from special guest speakers and celebrate how we’re all part of the story.

Lane Cove Council presents Free Concert: Plastic Soul

Sunday 26 January, 6:00pm – 8:00pm The Canopy

Formed in Sydney by some of the local scene’s best, Plastic Soul is a party band with a predilection for all things funk and soul. From ‘60s Motown classics to the smoothest selections of 2000s R&B, Plastic Soul has you covered for any occasion, traversing the decades in a high-energy funk celebration.

This is a picnic event. Food and drinks permitted. Please bring a picnic rug or low chair (no spikes permitted). No umbrellas, dogs, or higher chairs permitted.

Featuring a dynamic blend of established and emerging artists, it reflects the intricate tapestry of both personal and shared narratives that flourish during this festive season—a time for reflection, renewal, and connection.

When the Valley of Peace is threatened, lazy Po the panda discovers his destiny as the “chosen one” and trains to become a kung fu hero, but transforming the unsleek slacker into a brave warrior won’t be easy. It’s up to Master Shifu and the Furious Five – Tigress, Crane, Mantis, Viper and Monkey – to give it a try. (PG)

Larry Buttrose as he discusses his new science fiction short story collection Everyone on Mars. Larry’s stories are an imagining of the personal, psychological and existential impacts of humanity’s colonisation of Mars. Bugs, beetles, bees and other mini-beasts are all around us, yet most go about their daily business unnoticed – until now! Ecological consultants uncovered wild-looking animals with equally wild names and antics, such as antlions, harvestmen and assassin bugs during their observational study of insect life in Warraroon Reserve, Riverview. Join ecologist Anne Carey for a glimpse into the amazing variety of insects found in Lane Cove’s bushland.

Lane Cove Library presents In conversation with Tamara Chavalle – But baby you’re worth it!

Thursday 27 February, 6:15pm – 7:30pm St Leonards Library

Join Tamara Chavalle as she discusses her debut novel But baby you’re worth it! This novel is a fictionalised memoir about a woman who suffers terrible injuries during the birth of her second child. Tabitha, goes from blissful new mother to a mother racked with pain because of mistakes made in the delivery room. The story explores one mother’s strength and determination to overcome adversity for the sake of her family. Books will be available for purchase on the night.

Lane Cove Council is proud to be a part of the 2025 celebrations celebrating the theme of ‘Free to be’ and will host a number of events including DJ Nacho Pop playing at free set at The Canopy Stage on 1 March 6:00pm – 8:00pm.
