Mayor’s message
Here in Lane Cove, we proudly celebrate the strength, wisdom and contributions of our seniors. As Mayor, I am passionate about ensuring our community is a place where people of every age can live well, stay active, and thrive.
We are delighted to present this year’s Lane Cove Seniors Festival guide, inviting you to ‘Live Life in Colour’. Packed with opportunities to try something new, meet new people and rediscover old favourites, this program is all about connection, energy, and enjoyment.
Our commitment to older residents is reflected in our Strategy for an Age-Friendly Lane Cove 2029. This strategy focuses on what matters most from accessible outdoor spaces to social inclusion and wellbeing programs that support active, independent living.
We are also proud of our recent work to create a dementia-friendly community. Through strong partnerships with Dementia Australia and local organisations, such as the Dementia Cafe we are helping people living with dementia and their carers feel confident, welcome and connected in everyday community life.
This March, Council has once again teamed up with local community groups and experts to bring you more than 30 events. Whether you’d like to showcase your talents, boost your wellbeing, or learn something new, there is something for everyone.
Our centrepiece event, ‘Live Life in Colour’, will be held at the new Galuwa Recreation Centre. Join us for a vibrant day of wellness and connection. Take part in a range of activities or simply relax with a cuppa and enjoy morning tea while catching up with friends and neighbours.
On behalf of Council, I thank everyone who has helped bring the Lane Cove Seniors Festival to life, and I warmly encourage you to get involved.
