LA INTERVENCIÓN / THE INTERVENTION Todo lo anteriormente descrito, de manera resumida, nos abrió el camino de la utilización del agua como uno de los elementos principales a utilizar en los proyectos, como tema recurrente.

En Tamchen puede percibirse muy fuertemente esta relación con la arquitectura, haciendo que sea la lectura principal del concepto. En este caso utilizamos el agua no sólo como elemento de consumo o para riego, sino que también fue un acompañante digno de la arquitectura y elemento de conexión con los otros cuatro sitios. Cualquier pretexto nos sirvió para celebrar esta relación agua-paisaje-arquitectura.

Familia/Family: Aeschnidae Conocidos como turixes, su nombre en maya, pertenecen al orden Odonata. Se calcula que en México existen alrededor de 350 especies de odonatos y en Yucatán alrededor de 60 especies de este orden 2 . Estos insectos tienen una amplia distribución mundial y a pesar de que existen especies endémicas de México, ninguna es propia de Yucatán. Varían grandemente en tamaño desde los 3.5 cm hasta los 7 cm 1, así como en coloración. En su mayoría habitan en sistemas acuáticos lénticos 3 (cuerpos de agua que permanecen en el mismo sitio sin f luir) y son considerados depredadores generalistas por alimentarse tanto de invertebrados terrestres como acuáticos 1, incluyendo a veces peces en estadios juveniles, por lo que son organismos clave dentro de la dinámica poblacional de sus presas 4.

Ha recibido numerosos galardones por sus obras, entre los que destacan los Primeros lugares que Obras Cemex le otorgó en 2002, 2004, 2007 y 2009, así como la Placa de Honor FCARM en 2004. Director Fundador de la Escuela de Arquitectura y Diseño de la Universidad Marista de Mérida, donde en 2010 fue instaurada la “Cátedra Extraordinaria Mario A. Peniche López” en honor a su labor como arquitecto y docente.

Los juegos acuáticos son equipos diseñados para que los niños interactúen y experimenten de manera segura con las diferentes formas en las que el agua puede surgir, ya que con el correcto diseño de las zonas recreativas se evita que el agua se estanque, por lo que son ideales para el desarrollo de las habilidades motrices y sensoriales.

No cabe duda que la implementación de estos tipos de juegos ayudan a bajar la temperatura del ambiente, refrescan a los niños y personas que juegan en esa zona, mejoran el espacio público, promueven la convivencia familiar así como la socialización de la comunidad.

Water games are designed for children to interact and experiment safely with the different ways in which water can emerge. With the correct design of recreational areas, water is prevented from stagnating, making these games ideal for the development of motor and sensory abilities.

There is no doubt that the implementation of these types of games helps to lower the temperature of the environment, refresh the children and people who play in that area, improve the public space, promote family coexistence as well as the socialization of the community.

Los “Muros Llorones” son paredes que aparentan ser una cascada, en donde por medio de un sistema hidráulico brota agua de la parte superior hasta llegar al suelo.

“Water Walls” are walls that appear to be a waterfall, where, through a hydraulic system, water flows from the top to the ground.

Utilizar piedras como recubrimiento en las paredes aporta calidez y ayuda a que se perciba fácilmente la escorrentía del agua; además de que sus múltiples texturas y tamaños generan diferentes sonidos.

Using stones as a coating on the walls brings warmth and helps to easily perceive the water runoff; in addition, its multiple textures and sizes generate different sounds.
