Editor’s Letter

Hay momentos y eventos en nuestra vida que nos invitan a hacer una pausa de nuestra rutina y cuestionarnos una serie de preguntas que nos ayudan a analizar lo vivido en el pasado y a establecer en el presente acciones y estrategias para un mejor futuro. Estas preguntas podrían ser: ¿qué puedo aprender de mis errores y aciertos del pasado? ¿Cuáles son mis objetivos? ¿Qué propósitos tengo? ¿Cómo puedo ayudar? ¿Cómo impactan mis acciones en otros seres vivos?

En honor tanto a nuestra edición 25 “El Ser Humano y el Paisaje”, como al nuevo año 2023, queremos invitar a nuestros lectores a ref lexionar sobre el papel que ejercemos en nuestro medio ambiente, que aceptemos nuestra responsabilidad como seres que lo impactamos y modificamos, pero también como seres capaces de conservarlo, salvarlo, restaurarlo, reconstruirlo, enfatizarlo y de crear y diseñar mejores paisajes.

There are moments and events in our life that invite us to take a break from our routine and ask ourselves a series of questions that help us to analyze what we have experienced in the past and to establish actions and strategies for a better future in the present. These questions could be: What can I learn from my past mistakes and successes? What are my goals? What purposes do I have? How can I help? How do my actions impact other living beings?

In honor of our 25th edition “The Human Being and the Landscape”, and the new year 2023, we want to invite our readers to reflect on the role we play in our environment, that we accept our responsibility as beings that impact and modify it, but also as beings capable of preserving it, saving it, restoring it, rebuilding it, emphasizing it and creating and designing better landscapes.

1. Las áreas naturales (como por ejemplo las reservas) no son espacio público. El uso y disfrute del ser humano queda en segundo lugar, por debajo de la conservación ambiental.

2. El espacio público se necesita tanto en una gran ciudad, como en pequeñas comunidades rurales. El concepto “derecho a la ciudad”3 debería ser modificado por “derecho al territorio”.

3. Mientras más grande sea el asentamiento humano, se reducen las dimensiones de la vivienda y cobra mayor importancia el área verde de los bienes comunes urbanos, es decir, el contacto que necesitamos tener con el paisaje.

4. El espacio público se tiene que planear. Como dice Guilles Clement en su publicación Manifiesto del Tercer Paisaje, “todo ordenamiento genera un espacio residual”4. Reconoce que es natural la existencia de espacios subutilizados dentro de la mancha urbana, sin embargo, es un error determinar que ahí es el sitio perfecto para el espacio público.

5. A diferencia de las áreas naturales, en el espacio público sí es prioritaria la apropiación por parte del ser humano. El espacio público por definición está destinado al uso, disfrute o aprovechamiento colectivo, siendo de acceso generalizado y libre tránsito.

Public space does not always have green areas. Therefore, there is not necessarily a direct relationship with climate change adaptation and mitigation actions.

The regulations and normative instruments do not embrace the needs of “otherness”5, therefore, it is essential to be sensitive to the requirements of vulnerable groups.

The place where you are right now, was once part of an ecosystem, be it your home, the street or a park. Landscape architecture allows us to glimpse interventions in balance between the natural and the built.

El proyecto, desarrollado por Bona fide taller en el límite urbano de la pequeña población de Sot de Ferrer, en Castellón, es el resultado de un concurso de arquitectura impulsado desde la administración y el sector cerámico de la región. El municipio de Sot de Ferrer (provincia de Castellón), traza su borde urbano occidental en la acequia mayor que sirve a su red de antiguos lavaderos.

The project, developed by Bona fide taller in the urban edge of the small town of Sot de Ferrer, in Castellón, is the result of an architecture competition promoted by the public administration and the ceramic industry of the region.

Sot de Ferrer (province of Castellón), draws its western limit on the main irrigation ditch –from Muslim heritage- that feeds a net of five traditional washing areas.

El proyecto regenera el entorno del lavadero del Inchidor, primero de los cinco que sirven a la población. Se adecúa la bajada al lavadero, y a los campos a través de la mejora de un sendero, servidumbre de paso para los agricultores. Se acerca la huerta y su paisaje.

Al final de la calle San Pedro hay un pequeño balcón de jaula sobre los campos de nísperos; pronto quedará toda trenzada de jazmín. A un lado se encuentra el patio del palacio gótico alrededor del cual nació el pueblo de Sot de Ferrer.

Al otro lado queda la bajada al antiguo lavadero,

El muro contiene el talud y gana el espacio suficiente para una placeta, que mira a la huerta y a los árboles que siguen el cauce del río. Linda con la acequia y uno puede sentarse en su borde y refrescarse los pies; es la acequia mayor y siempre lleva agua.

La pérgola lo reúne todo bajo su bóveda curva, una habitación abierta que se irá cubriendo de parra virgen, de un rojo intenso en otoño.

DESCRIPCIÓN / DESCRIPTION Tiene alas largas y afiladas y una cola corta y delgada. Esta especie tiene la cara blanca con una raya negra en cada mejilla y ojos grandes y oscuros, así como alas de color pizarra y gris azulado, barras negras en la espalda y vientres pálidos. Por lo general, las hembras son un poco más grandes que los machos.

This caused F. peregrinus populations to drop precipitously in the middle of the 20th century. A successful captive breeding and reintroduction program, combined with restrictions in pesticide use, has been the basis of an amazing recovery.

Su pelaje es de color beige, gris y óxido, a menudo con patrones faciales distintivos. Tienen cabezas grandes con hocicos gruesos, colas tupidas, patas de gran tamaño y piernas largas, así como agudo sentido del olfato, excelente audición y visión binocular. El lobo mexicano es la más pequeña de todas las subespecies de lobos grises de América del Norte.

Their coats are buff, gray, and rust colored, often with distinguishing facial patterns. Como cada fin de año, muchos de nosotros hacemos el balance de lo que ha sucedido en los últimos meses para proyectarnos en los escenarios venideros. Uno de los últimos acontecimientos fue la COP27 llevada a cabo en noviembre en Charm el-Cheikh, Egipto.

En dicha cumbre, se reitera de nueva cuenta la necesidad de cambiar nuestra forma de consumo, y en general los hábitos diarios, hacia actividades más sostenibles.
