On the east side of the garden, exhibition gardens, display landscapes, research plots and forestry arrays illustrate our propensity to frame and order our landscapes in more formal manners, whilst on the west, visitors are subsumed by gardens that are inspired by natural cycles, immersive landscapes and irregular floristic forms. Water plays a mediating role between these two conditions, taking visitors from rockpool escarpments, meandering river bends, melaleuca spits and coastal edges.

Las personas que hacen uso de estos espacios son generalmente niños y familias, quienes aprovechan los fines de semana o vacaciones como medio de recreación.

In the year 1982 a terrain was donated to us -an old henequen installation-, where the facilities then would be located. We agreed with the CEO that at first, he would grant us the entire back zone of the terrain (almost 3 hectares of land) to establish the botanical garden.

Cuando emprendemos la aventura de crear un huerto, una fase crucial es la selección de las plantas que queremos sembrar, plantas que además de aportar nutrientes a nuestra dieta diaria, serán un elemento visual que mejore la estética del espacio. Ahora bien, si alguna vez has sentido el agobio por decidir qué sembrar de toda la vasta diversidad de formas y colores vegetales, aquí te ayudamos con unos tips para cultivar tres hortalizas que forman parte de la canasta básica de la gastronomía mexicana, y que además son especies que se desarrollan de manera rápida por lo que son normalmente utilizadas en huertos escolares, con el fin de enseñar a los niños sobre el crecimiento de las plantas, la producción de los alimentos, el cuidado de nuestro medio ambiente; y al mismo tiempo ayudarles a estimular sus sentidos.

DESCRIPCIÓN / DESCRIPTION Las ovejas domésticas son rumiantes relativamente pequeños, generalmente con un pelaje rizado llamado lana y a menudo con cuernos que forman una espiral lateral. Dependiendo de la raza, las ovejas domésticas pueden no tener cuernos, o sí tener cuernos en ambos sexos, o sólo en machos.

Domestic sheep are relatively small ruminants, usually with a curled hair called wool and often with horns that form a lateral spiral. Depending on breed, domestic sheep may have no horns at all, or horns in both sexes, or in males only.

HÁBITAT / HABITAT Las ovejas domésticas viven en todo el mundo en asociación con humanos. Domestic sheep live worldwide in association with humans. The first domesticated sheep resided mainly in the Middle East and Central Asia but since then, they have been introduced everywhere. They are extremely versatile and exist in a wide variety of habitats.

ALIMENTACIÓN / DIET Se alimentan principalmente de pastos, pueden comer una amplia variedad de heno y cereales. Sheep feed mainly on grasses, they can be fed a wide variety of hays and oats. When grazing, sheeps ingest a large amount of food in a short period of time, then they retire to rest and rechew the ingested matter, spending their day alternating between these periods of grazing and ruminating.

DESCRIPCIÓN / DESCRIPTION Los caballos son ungulados con una postura de pie no ungulígrada, pezuñas ovaladas de un solo dedo, colas largas, cabello corto, piernas largas y delgadas, musculoso y profundo torso, cuellos largos y gruesos y grandes cabezas alargadas. Cuenta con una melena de pelos gruesos que se extiende a lo largo del lado dorsal del cuello.

Horses are ungulates with an unguligrade foot posture, single-digit oval-shaped hooves, long tails, short hair, long slender legs, muscular and deep torso, long thick necks, and large elongated heads. Their mane consists of coarse hairs, which extends along the dorsal side of the neck.

Hoy en día, el término Actividades y Terapias Asistidas por Equinos (EAAT, por sus siglas en inglés) fue acuñado para abarcar a todas las formas de terapia con caballos, incluyendo equinoterapia, equitación terapéutica, psicoterapia asistida por equinos, entre otras.

Amo viajar ya que siempre te llenas de grandes historias y experiencias, mi último viaje lo hice sola, fue a Holbox, una isla del norte de la Península de Yucatán en México, la cual es parte de la Reserva de la Biosfera Yum Balam. Para llegar a la isla tuve que tomar un ferry desde el poblado de Chiquilá. Al llegar habían algunos mosquitos, hacía calor pero estaba muy feliz, pensaba que esta experiencia sería sólo parte de la aventura que venía. Conocí a personas maravillosas, que me hicieron sentir en casa, estuve sin internet, pero eso me permitió hablar con las personas que me rodeaban y también desconectarme del caos de la ciudad, por lo que pude disfrutar más de mi alrededor.

Ya que todo está cerca, caminaba disfrutando la playa todos los días, el agua cristalina y cálida es simplemente hermosa, cada atardecer me llenaba de mágicos colores, era maravilloso ver cómo se iban los colores y llegaban las estrellas para llenarte con su brillo. Siempre que tengas la oportunidad, viaja, conoce y disfruta el lugar en el que estés, te llenarás de grandes sensaciones, aprenderás del medio ambiente, así como de las costumbres y tradiciones de los habitantes; recuerda siempre respetar la flora, fauna y cultura de cada lugar que visitas.

I love to travel, because you always end up with great stories and experiences, I made my last trip alone, I went to Holbox, an island in the north of the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico, which is part of the Yum Balam Biosphere Reserve. To get to the island I had to take a ferry from a small town called Chiquilá. When I arrived there were some mosquitoes, it was hot but I was very happy, I thought this experience would be only part of the adventure that was coming. I met wonderful people, who made me feel at home, I had no internet, but that allowed me to talk to the people around me and to disconnect from the chaos of the city, that actually made me enjoy more my surroundings.

Since everything is close, I walked and enjoyed the beach every day, the crystal clear and warm water is simply beautiful, every evening filled me with magical colors, it was wonderful to see how the colors in the sky were changing and going away and how the stars came to the sky to fill me with their brightness.

Whenever you have the opportunity, travel, know and enjoy the place you are in, you will be filled with great sensations, you will learn about the environment, as well as the customs and traditions of the inhabitants; always remember to respect the flora, fauna and culture of every place you visit.
