Acknowledgement to the 2023 Judges The 2023 Landscape Queensland Construction Excellence Awards, organised by Landscape Queensland, are made possible through the invaluable support of a dedicated group of industry professionals. Each year, a judging panel, consisting of experts in the landscape industry, generously dedicates their time to support Landscape Queensland and uphold the highest standards in landscaping excellence. We express our sincere gratitude to the entire panel of judges for their commitment to volunteering their time and expertise. With a special thanks to our co-head judges, Tessa Leggo, Landscape Architect, and retired practitioner, Michael Ryan. It is important to note that the judging process for each year’s awards remains independent of the Association, with judges being unaware of the entrants' identities, emphasising the fairness and impartiality of the evaluation process.

This year, we were particularly impressed by the industry's continued dedication to excellence, showcasing a persistent pursuit of elevated standards that speaks to the growth and evolution of the landscape sector. Notably, among this year's submissions, we observed an exceptional emphasis on finer details and a creative utilisation of materials. These qualities vividly demonstrate the pride that landscape teams invest in their projects. To all the entrants of the 2023 awards, your hard work has truly set a high bar for excellence. We hope you had an incredible night celebrating the achievements of this amazing industry. Congratulations!

Queensland Landscape Industry celebrates in style at the 2023 Awards Gala

Bringing together the crème de la crème of Queensland's expansive landscape industry, the Brisbane Sofitel Central set the stage for an evening of recognition and celebration at the Landscape Queensland Gala Awards on Saturday, 18 November 2023. Beyond a mere display of horticultural and landscape construction glamour, the ballroom Le Grande exuded an air of accomplishment and dedication, adorned with the industry's finest. The event, hosted by the esteemed 97.3fm breakfast host and industry supporter, Terry Hansen, marked the culmination of a six-month awards program, honouring outstanding residential and commercial projects across the state.

The Awards ceremony unfolded as a vibrant celebration of the state's landscape achievements, with finalists, winners, and highly commended projects announced for their outstanding contributions. This year's competition, marked by elevated standards, showcased a tough contest, and the finalists rightfully earned their titles as the best of the best, striking a harmonious balance between industry recognition and spirited celebration. Amidst the festivities, the night illuminated the promising future of the sector. The notable presence of landscaping apprentices emphasised their vital role, particularly in anticipation of Brisbane hosting the 2032 Olympics. As Queensland's outdoor spaces prepare for a global stage, this underscores the exciting and rewarding career opportunities awaiting those considering a profession in this thriving industry. The Awards gala, blending ceremony and festivity, celebrated success, resilience, and the enduring spirit of Landscape Queensland members, with the highlight being the announcement of the QLD Landscape Construction of the Year in both Residential and Commercial categories. Beyond the formalities, the event offered a mix of camaraderie, fun, dinner, and dancing, creating an atmosphere where professionals could unwind and connect. Attendees were treated to entertainment with a touch of cheeky charm by Darren Carr, known for his comedic flair. Carr's presence served as a delightful interlude, reminding everyone that amidst the serious business of recognising excellence, there's always room for a bit of fun.
