Alvin Community College Marketing Department
About twelve marketers make up ACC’s marketing department. They all collaborate to advance the community, having a combined 50 years of higher education expertise.
Lorrent Smith, the outgoing previous director of marketing at Alvin Community College, has recently been replaced by Scott Turnbough. Mr. Turnbough Has been at ACC for now a little over a month and is currently pursuing his career as an ACC director of marketing, having previously worked at The College of Mainland. After asking him his main goals this year for benefiting ACC he tells me, “A key goal for this year is to increase student enrollment by sharing our current and former students’ success stories."

The marketing department assists in maintaining the college's reputation and enhancing it in the community. Every team member is categorized according to their areas of expertise. Throughout the semesters, a few members oversee advertising the college's activities, programs, and services. Having the chance to ask Mr. Turnbough, on how the marketing team promotes and advertises ACC. He explained that they utilize a variety of tactics to promote events and the ACC brand. He says “We leverage social media campaigns to connect with both current and potential students, sharing updates and event information. Additionally, we engage with our community directly through events.” Using social media, the team maintains community and student engagement, with frequent postings of pertinent data regarding the school community.

The college website is maintained and updated with new content on a regular basis. Mr. Turnbough said, “The website is our central hub for communication and information distribution ” The marketing team also comes across obstacles when setting up the website and events. Scott Turnbough explains how they overcome them saying “Through regular meetings and brainstorming sessions, we collectively develop creative solutions, drawing on the various strengths and perspectives of our team members to tackle obstacles.”

For the community's informational benefit, they offer posters, pamphlets, manuals, and other materials. To ensure that consumers don't miss out on the content, the department plans photo and video shoots for marketing campaigns and events held on campus.
