All fine art images were captured with a PhaseOne medium format digital camera. This camera has one of the largest digital sensor sizes, complimented with their unparalleled color science and reason for the title “Size Does Matter.” When it comes to camera equipment, there has been no compromise.

DEPTH OF COLOR

The higher the number the more colors are presented there and the more precise color reproduction is.

8-bit image has 256 levels of gradation per color, for a total of some 16.7 million colors.

A 16-bit image o ers 65,536 levels of gradation per color for a staggering total of 281 trillion colors!

8 Bit

INCredible detail edge-to-edge

After years of experimentation and research, my production process is second to none in terms of delivering quality photographic prints designed to last for generations. All fine art prints are printed from a 16 Bit Ti files.

Aphonic

Without voice, voiceless.

I’m connected with all my pieces, however, this piece in particular, I connect with on an emotional level. It frustrates me that the environment has no voice and humans just take everything as if we are entitled to it. Lately, I have asked myself how I can give back? I don’t think I can unless I become a voice.

This is why I’ve chosen to start Aloha Aina Environmental Advocacy Group.*

This image is based around the idea of showing the beauty of mother nature while the dress materials are subtly showing the man-made plastics/trash that are destroying our environment. I chose to work with an innovative designer Candi Gordon. Candi is a SCAD graduate whose focus is sustainability in the fashion industry.

rising from the ashes

One of the first fine art shots that I considered for this exhibit. This is also what solidified my relationship with PhaseOne.

I love the rich color palettes created after fires.

Moody blues

When everyone is running from the beach because a storm is approaching, I am packing my gear and heading to set the frame. I’ve never captured these blues like this.

Aqueous

Relating to, or resembling water.

This abstract piece was shot at Grayton Beach, Florida. The Gulf Coast has beautiful coastal dune lakes that flow to the Gulf. I was able to capture the abstract and unique pattern the water created.

The intersection of timing, light and nature captured here always feels like a once in a lifetime moment.

Eternal Sunrise

I believe if we watched more sunrises we would all be more united. Sunrises remind me to be more human and try to connect more with my surroundings.

MORNING MOOD

Some have lived without love… none have lived without water...

I can never express how much water has shaped my life. I have grown up in the water, listening to it, moving with it, really feeling it. It is a bigger part of me than me. It has had more influence on me than anything else.

Weathering the Storm

Shooting long exposure images with with the PhaseOne has allowed me fall in love with nature all over again.

Sirens & Silver SERIES

The Sirens were creatures often depicted as half-woman, half-bird, who lured sailors to the rocky cli s of their island home with beguiling voices which no man was able to resist. On his decade long journey home to Ithaca from the Trojan Wars, Odysseus steered past their island and, on the advice of Circe, a lesser god and enchantress, he ordered his men to plug their ears with beeswax and bind him tightly with rope to the ship’s mast before they rowed the vessel at a furious speed. Silver has been responsible in for the all film development in the 20th century. Silver gelatin is now becoming obsolete due to the digital process.

THE MEDIUM OF CHOICE FOR THIS SERIES

As a pioneer and world market leader, Hahnemühle continuously refines its genuine artist papers for exclusive prints of photographs, digital art and art reproductions. They are awarded as 'Brand of the Century’ products and are available in more than 130 countries worldwide. Hahnemühle is the inventor of Digital FineArt papers for inkjet printing and art reproduction. This German based manufacturer dates back to 1584.

Sirens & Silver SERIES

Sirens & Silver SERIES

I spent countless hours researching different methods shooting underwater film. What I concluded from this research is that there really is no right way and i would just have to go for it and yes duct tape was involved. Everything about this day was a challenge. Due to heavy rain the water levels changed significantly over night, we broke some camera gear, we were only able to shoot 6 of 20 rolls of film before the storms set in. Location of the shoot was downstream 1 mile, only accessible by paddle boards. Waiting two weeks to see the images from developed film, reminded me that being present in the moment is what photography is all about.

Sirens & Silver SERIES

I created a floating measuring device made from string, bobbers, and duct tape. Each bobber was measured out and marked by meters to match the camera’s focus ring.

This shoot was a huge growing point for me and was one of the hardest challenges that I have ever accomplished. Also the most rewarding.
