About Laminam

Italian porcelain surfaces with exceptional performance.

Breaking the traditional concept of surfaces, Laminam is a full body Italian porcelain slab, exclusively large in size with minimal thickness.

Laminam is remarkably strong and has very high resistance to scratching and abrasion. Suitable for many indoor and outdoor applications Laminam is produced using advanced technologies. It is easy to clean, resistant to frost, fire, mould and mildew, and to the effect of UV rays.

The cutting-edge Laminam pressing system removes all traces of tension from the slabs, making it quicker and easier for fabrication and installation. There is a great degree of freedom and versatility to these revolutionary ceramic slabs, opening up an even wider variety of possible applications.

All the characteristics and chromatic properties of the slabs are unchanging and designed to stand the test of time in all atmospheric conditions. Technical details / Made from porcelain stoneware, Laminam slabs are produced using innovative technology, compacting the material before firing in a hybrid dual-supply (gas, then electric) kiln at temperatures of over 1,220°C. This kiln is designed to ensure an even and completely flat product. The innovative Laminam pressing system removes all traces of tension from the slabs, making it quicker and easier for fabrication and installation.

Availability Laminex New ZealandÂŽ is the distributor of the Laminam 12+ XL, Laminam 5 and Laminam 3+ slabs.

Colours and thicknesses stocked by Laminex New Zealand can be seen in this catalogue. Other colours within these size ranges are available subject to lead times and minimum order quantities.

Laminam slabs are made from natural materials, therefore variation within the slab and across multiple slabs is possible. For large projects, it is best to request for this product to be batch matched.

Laminam 3+ is made up of the basic porcelain slab with the structure reinforced with fibreglass matting applied to the back surface using special adhesive. The 1000x3000mm slabs can be cut into other tile formats by local fabricators. The lightweight nature of the Laminam 3+ allows the slab to be adhered directly onto an existing surface, saving time, expense and waste.

Fire rating Cone Calorimeter testing was carried out and data recorded in accordance with ISO 5660 and the New Zealand Building Code Verification Method C/VM2 Appendix A.

This is simply a thicker variant of the basic porcelain slab, without the requirement for fibreglass reinforcement.

Laminam 12+ XL 12mm

Laminam 12+ is made up of a base slab, strengthened with fibreglass matting applied to the back surface using special adhesive. The extra large format covers a greater surface area reducing product wastage.

Matching tops and fronts Laminam can be used for horizontal and vertical applications allowing for matching tops and fronts. Contact your Laminam fabricator for more details.

Recommended adhesives Most reputable brands of tile adhesives have a suitable adhesive for installing Laminam – a full list of suitable adhesives is available in the technical section of the Laminam website laminam.co.nz.

Technical details

Trims Special trims are available for Laminam tiles, available from Tiler’s Mate and other suppliers.

Care and maintenance Laminam surfaces are easy to clean. For everyday cleaning, it is possible to use mild detergents.

Please follow manufacturer’s guidelines and dilute cleaners when required.

To remove particularly tough stains or residues it is advisable to carry out an initial clean with hot water and mild detergent.

Warranty Laminex New Zealand provides a 10 year limited warranty for Laminam used in interior applications if installed by approved installer.

Reaction to fire Laminam does not contain organic material so it is resistant to fire and high temperatures. In the event of fire it does not release smoke or toxic substances.

Hygienic surface Because Laminam does not allow the formation of mould, bacteria or fungi, it is perfectly suitable for food preparation areas.

UV resistant Laminam does not contain organic pigments and is resistant to UV rays.

The colours remain stable even when subjected to severe climate changes.

Eco-friendly Laminam is a totally natural product. It does not release any elements into the environment.

Key attributes / Low maintenance Laminam can be easily cleaned using mild disinfectants and detergents without affecting its surface characteristics.

Wear resistance Laminam is highly scratch and abrasion resistant. The properties of the slab remain unchanged even after intensive use and frequent cleaning.

High strength Due to its excellent mechanical properties, Laminam is suitable for demanding applications like flooring.

Light weight With a weight of just 7kg or 12kg per square metre (3.5mm and 5.6mm ranges respectively), Laminam is very light, making it easier to handle and reducing weight to building structures.

Frost resistance Laminam’s average water absorption is 0.1% so it is frost resistant and suitable for all weather conditions.

Anti graffiti Laminam is the first graffiti proof ceramic surface. It is easy to clean and even the strongest paints can be easily removed.

Chemical resistance Laminam resists organic and inorganic solvents, providing a very durable stain resistant surface.
