DTLA

GET UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL WITH DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES TO DISCOVER A COLLECTION OF UNIQUE NEIGHBORHOODS, CHARMING SMALL BUSINESSES, AND LOCAL COMMUNITIES WITH GLOBAL VIBES

THINGS YOU DIDN’T KNOW ABOUT DOWNTOWN LA

Even if you’re a plugged-in Angeleno, there are probably things you don’t know about Downtown LA. From afar, you see its skyline of gleaming towers. Zoom in and you recognize icons like the Walt Disney Concert Hall and Crypto.com Arena. But get up close and personal, and you discover a collection of unique neighborhoods with the enticing charm of small businesses with big dreams, local communities with global vibes, international visitors with intrepid curiosities. So put aside your preconceived notions and explore some of the lesserknown gems in the heart of the city.

Free. (At least in DTLA they are!) MOCA and The Broad are two of the best museums in the country and are always free. The Colburn School presents over 350 classical music and dance performances annually, more than half of which are free. Want to do the dancing yourself? The Music Center hosts free Dance DTLA nights all summer. If fashion is your thing, ASU’s Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising Museum is famous for its annual Art of Costume Design in Film exhibition with selections of Academy Award® nominees.

new ones have opened in just the last three years? Downtown is such a great market that some of the best restauranteurs have multiple establishments. Pouring With Heart has 7! including the Golden Gopher, Seven Grand, and Arts District Brewing Co. H & H Brazilian Steakhouse was such a hit, they’re opening Casa Ipanema at the Biltmore Hotel. At The Bloc, Café Balzac, a popular co ee & pastry spot, went for a second scoop with Bellalina Gelato, right next door.

Neighborhood in LA

From walking the dog and walking to work, lunch, happy hour, and the gym (though who needs the gym when you’re getting in all your steps on the sidewalk), Downtown – with a walk score of 93 out of 100 – is the most walkable neighborhood in LA. Contrary to the rest of the city where famously everything is a 20-minute drive, it’s all a 5-minute walk in DTLA. At prime locations like FigAt7th you’ll find shopping, dining, and more, all in one place.

A New Restaurant Opens (almost) Every Week

You probably know Downtown has amazing restaurants, but did you know that over 130

Family-Friendly Days are Easy to Plan!

Another thing you might not know? There’s lots for families to do too! One sample itinerary for you and the littles that combines free and walkable: stop by one (or more) of Grand Avenue’s venues (see above) for a bit of culture, then take Angel’s Flight – the little railway that puts the “fun” in funicular – down to Grand Central Market where the eye-widening array of choices has something for even the pickiest eater.
