Who’d dare to be Mayor?
Seven candidates have confirmed they will be standing in the City of Newcastle Lord Mayoral byelection to be held on Saturday 15th November. The candidates as they will appear on the ballot paper are former Councillor Aaron Buman (Independent); David Chapman (Independent); Rod Holding (Independent); current Councillor and Deputy Mayor Brad Luke (Independent) who will be relinquishing his presidency of the Newcastle Branch of the Liberal Party in order to stand as an Independent; current Councillor Nuatali Nelmes (Labor); Joe Ferguson (Australia First Party); and current Councillor Therese Doyle (Greens). If any of the three current Councillors become Lord Mayor another byelection will be held to replace the position they will vacate on Council. Yes you read that correctly...another byelection! Polling places around the Lambton area include Lambton High School, Callaghan College Senior Campus Jesmond and St John the Baptist Anglican Church Hall, Morehead Street.
