The North Little Rock Public Library System is proud to partner with ARORA (Arkansas Regional Organ Recovery Agency) to help raise awareness and support for organ and tissue donation in Central Arkansas. Becoming an organ and tissue donor has never been easier with the new kiosks located in the lobby of each North Little Rock Library location.

With the new kiosk, all you need to do is scan the back of your driver ’ s license. You can sign up in less than 10 seconds, plus you ’ re given options on how your organ/tissues will be used.

At any given moment, there are over 300 children and adults on the organ transplant waiting list in Arkansas. On average, another person is added to the list every 16 minutes. For those waiting, a donation can be a bridge to life that you can help build.

Each year, there ’ s a greater need with more procedures being performed and outcomes that are continually improving. Your gift of organs and tissues has the potential to benefit over 90 people currently waiting on lists in the state.

You ’ll find the kiosks located near the front desk at both North Little Rock librares. The kiosks are available anytime during library hours.

30th Annual Open Exhibition of the Mid-Southern Watercolorists

Join us at Argenta Library for a free opening reception, of the 30th Annual Open Exhibition of the Mid-Southern Watercolorists, during Third-Friday ArtWalk, from 5 to 8 PM on September 16.

The show continues with free admission in the library gallery through October 7.

Make sure to pick up your ArtWalk Passport at any of the participating galleries. If you visit all of the galleries, you are entered to win a gift card to a North Little Rock business.

Mid-Southern Watercolorists has been the premier organization for lovers of water media in the state since its founding in 1970. The organization fosters artistic expression and furthers the interest of painters and patrons through its programs, opportunities to build on painting skills, and by its competitive and non-competitive exhibits. The Annual Member Open Exhibition is a favorite occasion for members to show their work and for art patrons to view and purchase original art.

Staff Spotlight and Reader Recommendation!

Beverly Partin

Beverly is Youth Program Coordinator at Argenta. If you ' ve been to a children ' s event at the Argenta Library, you probably know Ms. Beverly! She has worked for the North Little Rock Public Library system for seven years. Before working for the library, she was a substitute teacher.

Beverly loves coming up with new creative and fun programs for the kids in our community. Two of her favorite programs are the Escape Box and Paint and Sip.

Escape Box is a fun take on an escape room. Kids have to solve puzzles and follow clues to win! Paint and Sip allows kids and teens to explore a new paint technique while enjoying a free juice box.

Outside of the library, Beverly enjoys reading and listening to audiobooks on Hoopla and Libby. Her favorite genres are historical fiction and mysteries. She loves seeing places and how things were in those days through books. She also loves to craft, especially sewing, making rag quilts, and scrapbooking.
