Back-to-School Haul Thursday, August 11, 4 - 5 PM at the Laman Teen Center We'll cover some of the basics for teens including pens, pencils, notebooks, etc. There will even be a limited number of clear backpacks available. This is on a first come/first served basis. All supplies are free courtesy of the Laman Library Teen Center.

Production Assistant Internships There are two paid internship positions open. Interns will participate in the actual work of the organization by producing suitable videos and content for publication on social media. Interested applicants will need to submit resumes and examples of previous work, i.e. show reel or portfolio of projects to jobs@lamanlibrary.org.

Third-Friday ArtWalk at Argenta
Joyride
an epic collaboration with Michael Shaeffer and MILKDADD
Join us at Argenta Library for a free opening reception, of the art exhibit Joyride by artists Michael Shaeffer and MILKDADD, during Third-Friday ArtWalk, from 5 to 8 PM on August 19. The show continues with free admission in the library gallery through September 9. Joyride is an artistic collaboration between Little Rock artists Michael Shaeffer and MILKDADD. Both artists are known to use bold colors to explore such themes as identity, pop culture, and sexuality.
Shaeffer is a Little Rock artist whose current style confronts the idea of personal identity and social status within American culture. His works are primarily on paper and canvas, as well as his apparel and accessory line.
MILKDADD is a self-taught artist residing in Little Rock. MILKDADD's often-evolving style never seems to fit into one category. She works in a variety of mediums throughout - including spray paint, chalk, charcoal, and bold acrylics.
The two began a dialogue through the exchange of drawings, which led to unified artworks by painting over each other's brushstrokes and reacting to each other's marks. This collective exploration set in motion the exhibit, Joyride.

Staff Spotlight : New & Familiar Faces!
Casey Crocker Casey is the newest addition to North Little Rock Public Library! He works in Adult Services at Laman Library. Prior to Laman, Casey spent 10 years at the Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage, and Tourism as the photographer and photo archivist. Afterward, he worked a brief year at KARK 4 news as a Production Assistant and Floor Director. He loves North Little Rock and works closely with the North Little Rock Convention & Visitors Bureau to cover events. Casey's favorite part of working at the library so far is "surrounding himself with knowledge." He loves collaborating with his co-workers and troubleshooting things for community members. He is excited about his future at Laman and all the opportunities he will have to learn and explore. Outside of work Casey enjoys photography, drawing and painting, reading, and writing articles. He hikes and explores often and travels whenever possible. As far as favored genres of media, he enjoys reading about photographers and loves when National Geographic comes in the mail. He likes most film genres - from superhero stuff to true crime to documentaries!
Kathy Sarna Kathy has worked for the North Little Rock Public Library in a variety of roles for a total of 38 years! She started working part-time in the Laman Library Children’s Department while in high school. After graduation, she went full-time in the Adult Circulation Department. Later, she became a Passport Agent and Notary Public for the library. In 2006, Kathy started transferred to Argenta as the Children’s Program Coordinator Supervisor and then later accepted the position as Argenta's Library Manager. Kathy has worked on many projects during her tenure at the library. One of her recent favorites has been taking on the role of Argenta Gallery Coordinator. "I’ve met some amazing artists and I've enjoyed helping them with their exhibits," she said. When Kathy isn't working at the library, she loves visiting Arkansas State Parks, glamping (glamorous camping), and kayaking with her husband, Alan. She also enjoys a good Amish fiction or mystery novel. She's also an unapologetically huge fan of the Bravo and TLC channels!
