Dear Snake Quest Competitor, On behalf of the entire staff at Lake Valley Golf Club we would like to welcome you to the 2021 Snake Quest. Inside this booklet, you will find information regarding this year’s competition including the schedule of events, formats and rules. We hope The Snake Quest leaves its mark as one of the most enjoyable MemberGuest events you have participated in. We have all worked diligently to prepare the golf course and tournament operations for your enjoyment. This tournament combines the best elements of the game; a fun, well prepared golf course, good friends, and healthy competition. We hope that you have as much fun participating in our tournament and it’s festivities as we have had making it happen. The Rounds Format:
Four Ball (Best Ball) Nine Holes Each x Four Rounds
Tees:
Modified Blue/White Combo Tees *White Tees = Rule of 85: Age + Handicap = 85 *Green Tees = Rule of 95: Age + Handicap = 95 *Players who choose this option must take an appropriate handicap reduction. Minimum age of 70 required.
Handicap:
The handicap for the competition will be 90% of each person’s course handicap as of June 1st.
Ties:
Teams are competing for one of six available places in the Shootout (two gross and four net AND Ties). Teams losing a tie break for one of the two places in the finals reserved for gross scores are eligible for one of the four net places.
Rules:
USGA Rules govern play except as modified by Local Rules.
Weather:
In the case of bad or threatening weather, the following signals will be used: Suspend Play: Continuous Hi-Lo Tone Resume Play: Continuous Solid Tone The decision to suspend or resume play will be determined by the Rules Committee.

The Shootout Qualifiers:
The two low gross scores and four low net scores as well as any ties (after the two low gross have been determined), will qualify for the Shootout. We will also qualify two wild card’s (and ties) which are the lowest 9 hole net scores from Saturday’s 2nd round for either side.
Format:
Scotch (alternate shot) Horserace. Holes used for the competition will be #1, #2, #17, #18. Partners will play alternately from the teeing grounds and alternately during play of each hole. Two teams will be eliminated following play of hole #1. One team will be eliminated after each of the remaining holes.
Handicap:
Teams receive 20% of the partners’ combined 18-hole handicaps. All teams will be reduced by the handicap of the low handicapped team who shall then play from scratch.
Tie-Breaker: No chip offs, ties for last spot will move on to the next
hole.(i.e. if we are trying to start our second hole with 4 teams and we have 3 pars and 2 bogeys 5 teams will move on to #2) .
Sudden Death: If two or more remaining teams are tied following the
play of hole #18, a sudden-death playoff will begin on hole #1.

$5000 Putt– Off Qualifying:
Friday 11am-12:30pm Players are given the opportunity to hit a 10 ft putt. Should you make that putt you are automatically entered into the finals.
Finals:
Friday 6:15pm Players who made the 10 foot putt are given the opportunity to win $5000. A 30 foot putt and a 50 foot putt which has been predetermined by a member of the golf staff must be made in succession. All players will hit the 30 foot putt then any of those who have made the 30 foot putt will be given the chance to hit the 50 foot putt. There are two $5000 prizes available. If more than 2 players successfully make all 3 putts they shall split $10,000.
Team Putting Contest Competition: Friday 11am—12:30pm
Each member of each team will hit a long putt which has been pre-determined by a member of the golf staff. The combined distance from the hole of the two putts will be the team score. i.e. if Player A makes his putt and Player B misses by 3 feet their team score will be 36 inches or 3 feet. We will pay the top 3 places.

Wagering Info Thursday Best Ball Quota $30 per team, Four ball stroke play (same format and handicaps you will use for the event). The lowest net score of the two partners is the score for the hole. The number of teams that shoot 32 or better on the front 9 will divide the front 9 purse or half of the total. We’ll follow the same procedure for back 9. Thursday Cash Horserace (The ‘Round Up) Same Format as The Shootout. $30 per team, Payout will be to 1st and 2nd Place teams. Friday Pari-Mutuel Players can bet on teams in increments of $5. Players can place as many bets as they would like for any amount they would like as long as it is divisable by 5. This is the same thing as betting on horses. You can place a bet on any team you like and as many teams as you like. Choose win, place, or show or any combination of the three. Friday Day Money Optional $30 team bet. We will pay out 30% of the teams that get in the game. All scoring is based on net scores and is for Friday only. Saturday Skins Optional team net skins game $30. 90% of handicap Shootout Pari-Mutuel Same format as Friday but you will only be placing bets on the teams that are in the shootout. Pari-Mutuel wagering on the Shootout Finals will take place between 2:00 pm-3:00 pm on Saturday, June 4th.
