Know it is us who are mad Driving around the Queenstown area is, and has been for a few years now, a complete disaster.

I know its old news but it’s a cluster f—k and getting worse. We don’t need tourists from overseas to clog our streets, we do it all by ourselves.

I counted, whilst dawdling in traffic, (heading towards Shotover Country roundabout) 80 cars heading into Frankton before I saw one with two people in it, then 120 more before I saw three. All the rest were single drivers. I was also one.

These all originate from Lake Hayes Estate, Shotover Country, Gibbston/ Cromwell and some other Wakatipu Basin traffic. Digressing momentarily, those subdivisions should never have been allowed to go ahead before roads and bridges were prepared. The consultants were morons. The people deciding to give the go ahead were also morons and we should ask for our money back.

Now we have winter and the usual traffic issues and town congestion is ridiculous. I have been, along with countless others, shouting out about this but no one is listening. Build more, more hotels, more flats, more apartments, more shops, more people and on it goes.

This week past I had work to do in town and took an hour and ten minutes plus fuel, to NOT find a park. The road up to Coronet Peak is a nightmare and mostly driven by one person (I am one). Now council is ticketing people parking at the bottom to ride share. Nice one!

Recently in Hamilton I noticed the metered parks advising 2 free hours to encourage shoppers to spend. Here we pounce on the tardy. Real estate agents and shop workers or owners are part of the problem. Wonder why you can never get a park near the Lonestar restaurant? Checkout the real estate businesses nearby.

Sure, we have buses and park and ride but it’s not enough. We are a mess. We are drowning in cars. We obviously are not hard up for cash if we can all zoom all over the place. Our family have been car sharing and leaving 2 or 3 cars at home which has its problems, but we are trying. The kids are saving money anyway.

So next time you see a long slow line of traffic barely moving from Mitre 10 at the “other” Queenstown to Stanley Street, and then watch them do the circuit around Shotover Street, Rees Street, Camp St, then leave after an hour of frustration, know it is us the locals who are mad and only us the locals who can solve the problem.

News Round Up A summary of major local news stories by Paul Taylor Queenstown dominated the national news agenda for all the wrong reasons last week, with its MP rolled and a resident accused on breaking out of managed isolation to go on a booze run

Clutha-Southland MP Hamish Walker announced on Wednesday he was quitting politics and would not stand in this year’s election.

Walker was forced out after admitting he had shared the private details of 18 active Covid-19 cases with the media, in a bid to defend himself against accusations of racism.

“I wish to thank the people of Clutha-Southland who I have loved meeting, assisting and representing over the past two and a half years,” he said.

“I sincerely apologise for my actions. I will be making no further comment.”

Walker’s announcement came just 73 days out from the election. He lasted slightly longer in that regard than his predecessor Todd Barclay, also a first-term National MP, who was forced out 94 days from the election in 2017 due to a staff recording scandal.

Like Barclay, Walker is expected to stay in Parliament until the General Election on September 19.

Walker believed the patient information - sent to him by former National Party president Michelle Boag - would show he was not being racist when he claimed 11,000 people from “India , Pakistan and Korea” could be go through isolation and quarantine in the south.

The Government had announced it was considering locations in the south for quarantine and managed isolation centres, including Queenstown, prompting Walker to fire off a press release containing the claim.

The media outlets did not publish the patient details they were given by Walker a week later, but it’s understood they did not prove his claim.

Meanwhile, ironically, on Friday afternoon Queenstown man Martin James McVicar appeared in court for after allegedly breaking out of a Covid-19 managed isolation facility in Hamilton.

McVicar, 52, who owned property in Jack’s Point, was remanded in custody without plea and is due back in Hamilton District Court this Wednesday.

He allegedly absconded from the Distinction Hotel, in the suburb of Te Rapa, on Thursday night to buy alcohol.

He’ll answer charges of intentionally failing to comply with an order under the Covid-19 Public Health Response Act 2020 and damaging a TV at the hotel.

Police say he cut through a 1.8m fence at about 6.30pm and was out in public for about 30 minutes, visiting the Brews liquor store on Te Rapa Road 500m away.

There was no one else in the shop at the time. The New Zealand Herald reported he bought a four-pack of Leffe Blonde and pinot noir.

If convicted, McVicar faces up to six months’ imprisonment or a fine up to $4000.

Central Lakes Arts makes grants of $1.5 million Salvation Army Queenstown plans to expand its counselling and family support services to meet post-Covid demand, using a whopping $390,000 grant from the Central Lakes Trust.

The grant, spread over three years, is among $1.5 million of funding dished out at Central Lakes Trust’s latest board meeting.

Arrowtown Bowling Club will receive $56,471 for a clubhouse renovation, Three Lakes Cultural Trust Online gets $30,000 for its Arts Renewal Project, and Queenstown Lakes Baby Box Charitable Trust Baby Box Project will receive $20,000.

And Queenstown’s Citizens Advice Bureau, a key local agency in the QLDC emergency response will receive $7,800, to assist with extra demand over the May/June period as well as $45,000 for operational support.

Demand for Salvation Army services have increased 600% since Covid-19.

Lt Andrew Wilson, Corps Officer and Director of Community Ministries, from the Queenstown Salvation Army says: “Covid-19 has significantly changed the outlook for the region, which is now facing a sudden economic crisis with profound social pain.

“While demand for our service is expected to gradually decrease over the coming months, the depth and complexity of need is expected to increase. We plan to expand our counselling and family support services to help people survive, connect and eventually thrive.”

The group put forward an in-depth plan as part of their application process. The support begins this year with $120,000.

Both the CODC and the QLDC mayors offered support of the grant.

CODC mayor, Tim Cadogan commending the group saying: “In my time working in the Courts and as Mayor, I have seen the work the Salvation Army do at times when no one else is there to do it.

“The Army provides vital help to those most in need”.

While the trust traditionally supports many local social service organisations with operational funding, and there are many in this funding round, some are experiencing or foresee increased demand.

The Central Otago Pilot Programme for the Youth Employment Project continues to receive support. The programme’s aim is to develop a coordinated learning pathway to ensure continued engagement of secondary school students in education and/or training and employment.

Restart for the Arts Two new community events will be held this spring in Queenstown and Wanaka to reinvigorate the local arts and culture scene.

The RenewArt events will be put on by the Three Lakes Cultural Trust, which has secured more than $150,000 in funding to deliver the project and reward selected artists.

The Trust – which supports and advocates for arts and culture in the Queenstown Lakes – invites all local artists to apply to showcase their work at the free events, to be held in Queenstown on October 9-10 and Wanaka, October 15-16.

Trust chair Julian Knights says the fundamental goal of the RenewArt initiative is to reunite and inspire artists and help them reconnect with the wider community through the power and beauty of their work.

The success of the programme over the past two years will this year see its expansion into Wakatipu High School and Mt Aspiring College.

“The Trustees of the Three Lakes Cultural Trust are really excited to launch RenewArt after this challenging time.

Finlay says: “This was a CLT initiative driven primarily with funding from the trust originally, but with its success more funders have come on board, including Otago Polytechnic Trades Academy. We are really proud of how well the programme has done and even more proud of the students that have made it a success.”

“It’s going to be a fantastic event, where our communities can come together and appreciate the amazing talent that we are so lucky to have here,” he says.

In addition a series of COVID-19 emergency grants have been provided to groups the trust work with to meet the demand that our community is experiencing at the current time.

Since the trust commenced 20 years ago, it has returned over $100 million back into the community. A total of $5.66m of the $9.40 million grants budget for the 2020/21 financial year has been allocated to date.

Three Lakes Cultural Trust general manager Jo Brown says the idea behind RenewArt is to create uplifting events to be enjoyed by the entire district post-Covid-19, while also enabling a paid work opportunity for local artists.

“Like many people and organisations in our community, the arts and cultural sector has been deeply impacted by Covid,” she says.

“We hope that RenewArt will be a light at the end of the tunnel, something artists can work towards and hopefully receive a little financial relief from, too.”

Artists can apply to exhibit at RenewArt via the Trust’s website at www. threelakesculturaltrust.co.nz/renewart from Saturday, July 11, with applications closing on July 23.

A selection panel comprised of highly respected arts and cultural practitioners will then select a cohort of artists to showcase their work at the RenewArt events in October. The selected artists will have approximately eight weeks to produce their works.

Get out and explore your own backyard! South Island: lower half With the hard times of lockdown behind us, why not venture out and take a trip around the sublime South Island? With the unique situation the globe is currently in, the lack of international tourists means you can have an experience which isn’t overshadowed (quite literally) by a looming selfie stick.

Here are some highlights to consider, if you’re looking to escape out of the Queenstown bubble.

Starting from the South, you can pay a visit to the Catlins. There are some stunning locations listed on the destination’s downloadable, online map. Just wrap up warm and get your hot water bottles ready for a 2-3 day road trip in your campers, as there are 26 points of interest in total.

Another set of favourites for locals and tourists alike, are the grand fjords of Milford and Doubtful Sound. These locations are particularly cheap right now, and there has never been a better time to browse ‘Book Me’ for a cheeky boat cruise. For those who are unaware of ‘Book Me’, this website is perfect for finding discounts on most activities and attractions in New Zealand. ‘Which should I choose?’

Doubtful Sound is best for visitors who have more time for exploring, as overnight tours are available. Whereas, Milford Sound has a range of daytime trips and their scenic flights depart from Queenstown airport which makes this ideal for those who are pressed for time.

Personally, I’d recommend Mitre Peak as the best Milford cruise company as their smaller boat offers a more personal experience. For $10, you can also pay to take the short trip to see Milford’s highest waterfall known as Bowen Falls, standing at 161 meters tall.

Moving over to the east coast, visit Dunedin – while this city is known primarily for its large student base, it is always a great location for anyone wanting a break from our Après-ski bars. Dunedin has a few more dining and shopping options to choose from than in Queenstown, notably the MAC makeup counter in the local department store (ladies you can thank me later). It will take about

half a day to wander around the city centre and the nearby Tunnel Beach which is a picturesque stop with a downhill footpath which leads to breathtaking sea-cliff views.

Travelling further north, Mt Cook and Lake Tekapo are famed for their ‘insta-worthy’ scenery. Especially during this Winter season, the surrounding snow-capped mountains will be a sight to behold and avid boarders and ski folk can even stop off at the nearby Ohau ski field for a few runs en-route. In Tekapo, you can immerse yourself in the local hot springs which overlook the lake. Tickets can be purchased for the cheaper price of $16 if you use ‘Book Me’ (basically the bible), as opposed to just rolling up on the day. The lake itself is a stunning aqua blue and is quite striking to see as you drive into town.

Alternatively, you can drive up to the Mt John observatory (entry fee on arrival as nothing is ever free my friends) and here, you can sip on a coffee as you take in the beauty of the vast landscape. Tekapo is known especially for its amazing, starry skies and informative tours can be taken at the ‘Dark Sky Project’ centre. However, for those who want to keep their budget expenditure low, you can simply park outside of the town and gaze at the millions of twinkling lights from the comfort of your car. For overnighters, I would recommend downloading the ‘THL’ phone app as this displays freer campsite options for people in non-self-contained vehicles.

Mt Cook is the highest mountain in New Zealand and even in the summer months, icebergs can be seen floating in the surrounding lake. Its most popular hike; the Hooker Valley track is only 5km and usually swarming with people due to its accessible walkway. Post COVID, the once heaving tourist attraction will now be much quieter so you can relish in what I would call, the epitome of the South Island’s rugged, glacial climate, practically undisturbed.

Part of this is predicting the needs that will flow as the economic consequences of the Covid-19 crisis unfold and what services they will be asked to provide in the near term.

The demand in the last quarter was the highest level in CAB’s history and the Lakes Weekly sat down with Rachel Reece, manager of Queenstown’s CAB, to discuss the impact. “The demand has put a huge strain on the organisation but more importantly on its volunteers, without whom CAB would not be able to function. I am very proud of the way the local team has coped and the level of service they provide”.

Employees experiencing a redundancy process is very traumatic as it impacts on their livelihood and financial stability while being faced with the fact that they will be participating in a very competitive job market. Some employees do not feel that they have been treated fairly and that their employers have

not followed the correct processes. On the flipside, employers are confronted with many stresses, including if they will have a business and have been doing their utmost to ensure they are keeping their workforce employed by accessing the wage subsidy.

Assisting with these queries requires certain skills, knowledge, and empathy.

Ms Reece continued “while the majority of cases have been assisting migrant workers we have also experienced a surge in locals looking for support which has been particularly difficult as many are in a very distressed state when they contact us. The loss of employment has had strong flow-on effects, such as people needing help with breaking fixed term tenancies when they can no longer afford rent”.

“Overall our region has been greatly impacted by the crisis, which is ongoing. Many have lost their jobs, many are experiencing financial hardship and many have little support. Migrants are facing not being able to get home to their families as there are few flights and even then, they cannot afford them. The support migrants have received from so many in our community and from local and central government has been incredible”.

“Whilst it is still super busy, it is rewarding to know that we are able to help and our clients leave us feeling better and supported”.

Rachel is particularly proud of the CAB team who continue to provide a high quality level of service. The type of queries we are receiving has really changed and is now at another level. We spend a lot of time with clients assisting and empowering them with options, ideas and solutions. Our team at CAB adapts quickly and is responsive to our ever-changing environment.

The high level of demand has placed signficant stress on CAB because as a community agency it is heavily reliant on it’s volunteer workforce and grants. This takes a toll on it’s already stretched resources and capacity.

QUEENSTOWN’S ONGOING TRAFFIC CONSTIPATION I doubt there is a person in Queenstown who hasn’t noted the crazy traffic congestion, and at the same time acknowledged that we can’t blame tourists for the current levels of constipation. (Similarly, we also can’t blame tourists for the bad driving that seems to still be present?) It is beyond clear that there needs to be a larger-community level discussion taking place about the best way to resolve the traffic issues, and it staggers me that such conversation does not appear to be on any agenda or forum at any community level.

Perhaps it is, and I have simply not spotted it?

Acknowledging four key things as true; (a) that the pace of solution appears glacial at best; (b) costs of solution do not get cheaper with the benefit of time, and (c) there will be much opposition from vested interest groups for every solution, this means that any resolve is likely at best to be decades away, and lastly (d) that the problem will not get better by itself.

The current strategy, if there is one; appears to merely kick the can further down the proverbial road (pun not intended)... and apply band aid solutions of more traffic lights or shifting roads, yet without actually addressing the painfully obvious point that some places and roads cannot cope with today’s volumes of vehicles, never mind the future volumes, including the currently absent tourist buses and rental cars. Yes, we can make the CBD hostile to cars, and carparking more expensive... but we also and absolutely need to talk about vehicle alternatives. If the answer is a rocket ship from Frankton to Queenstown, or a teleporter, or a monorail, or a gondola... then get the discussion on the table... and keep it there. The city and transit already own key land corridors of the Frankton trail and/or the center of the Frankton road; both very capable of carrying columns supporting an aerial system of some sort, and both predictably

likely to cause uproar by affected owners. Well, the consequence of not cheesing off these affected owners is to instead cheese off the majority of all other residents and commuters losing time and patience in the continual snarl of traffic on even the shortest trip involving a vehicle, including that of a subsidised bus who also gets caught in the same traffic. We acknowledge that these discussions will take time to work through the process, but this matter should be on every agenda from here until resolution is found... and if that’s a decade away, so be it… but for Queenstown’s sake... please begin. It won’t get cheaper. The next few years of recovery are a gift to planners here, where we got a glimpse of the future… and most of us didn’t like what we saw.

Queenstown doesn’t see struggle like the rest of New Zealand.

We don’t see a majority of people living below the poverty line, supporting families on minimum wage jobs, we don’t see the extent of homelessness in New Zealand and you don’t want to know that people might be able to return here, that’s too close to home. Who cares if others are subjected to that, who cares how it may affect poorer communities? We are surely above that here in lil ol Queenstown.

Derrin This is a very narrow view Scott. So, you think it’s acceptable for other NZ communities to take the risk of isolation and quarantine hotels but not for Queenstown??!! Bit of a double standard mate. The hotels in Auckland and

Christchurch that are being used have regular communities living around them as well. We should all be in support of our kiwis that want to come home to be safe and healthy, and if this helps some local hotels make some money while bookings are way down.

Why not?? Especially if they are managed as per the government guidelines with the correct staff and medical support. I think it is unfair for you to judge our community more valuable than other communities in Aotearoa.

Yes, it is a wonderful place to live but so is the rest of NZ. TeamNZ The most obvious and compelling argument for not choosing Queenstown as a quarantine venue, is the lack of healthcare in the area.

New Zealand had to have a hard and sudden lockdown because the number of ICU beds per capita is extremely low for a developed country. There has been years of a woeful lack of investment in healthcare by successive governments. Between 2011 and 2018 the number of beds per 100,000 people shrank from 5.98 to 5.14. To put that in context the number in Germany is close to 30.

Over the last week or so during my role at distributing vouchers it has been wonderful having so many members of the public come up to us asking if we are volunteering firstly and then praising our work. We have received flowers and chocolates. Wonderful recognition by the public and shows that volunteers are seen and everything they do is appreciated. For me this makes me proud of the work we do.

What’s the best bad decision you ever made? Should have volunteered years ago.

What’s your best piece of advice? Volunteering is not an important part of my life and I love the people I meet. The experience I have is very fulfilling and brings a good balance. It must be an exciting time to be a proper journalist these days- there’s just SO much news every day. People in quarantine enjoying a bit of free WIFI in the supermarket, shortsighted politicians flicking highly confidential info to the media, Melbourne’s sudden return to lockdown (damn you, Victoria!!!), Trump’s taxes to be revealed... it’s hard to keep up with all the constant flow and even our local news is way more exciting than I like. Boring politics means everything is just going along fine. If you’re interested in getting our local politics a bit more boring (given the huge amount of feedback recently, I know a lot of you are very interested!) there’s a talk by author, journalist and academic, Max Rashbrooke - he’s won a number of awards including the Winston Churchill fellowship, and he’s giving a talk called “Power to the People” at the Memorial Hall on July 30 at 7 pm. Tickets are available on Eventbrite and if you are feeling discouraged by the way decisions are made currently, this might help change things.

On a cheerier note, it’s very exciting to know that Matt and Cath Hanna are moving back to the Wakatipu - we have missed you and we are all wondering what new projects you’ll be working on here - Joe’s Garage, Smokorun and Motogrill are hard acts to follow!! and huge congrats to Kaye and Michael Parker, John Darby and Steve and Virginia Fisher. They’ve all been hugely influential in making the Wakatipu such a beautiful, positive, appealing place to live and they’ve all become or are about to become grandparents They know how desperate I am to have grandchildren and are probably afraid I might try and steal one if I don’t get one by more orthodox methods. And big happies to Jo Booker who’s 50 this week and celebrating her recovery from a strange and nasty (not Covid) virus that wiped her out last year. Her party theme is “Staying Alive”, of course...

Staying alive is what the Cancer Society is trying to ensure for everyone who gets cancer - pencil it in now - October 10th is their annual fundraising ball, and with the wonderful Jane Turner in charge of organising it, it’s going to be very good fun. If anyone wants to donate prizes for the auction - maybe you have a beautiful holiday house somewhere or can offer a normally unbuyable experience or you just want to give great dollops of cash, then do please let me know.

If you are feeling a bit down, practising philanthropy is the best feel-good drug you can get.

I’ve also got another feel-good drug - my daphne bushes have become 3 metre high giants and I keep finding myself wandering past it to enjoy that delicious smell. Winter flowers really do have a totally different perfume from the summer ones. I’m greedily eyeing the tiny buds on my witchhazel and wintersweet, wondering when they are going to start their annual pong. Even though the humans who live here grumbled and groaned inside during the recent downpours, all the outside residents like trees and ducks seem to have perked up enormously.

Each to his own, I guess.

COMMUNITY NOTES Manaaki manuhiri: Caring for foreign nationals in Queenstown Niamh Lawless, New Zealand Red Cross’ Secretary General, visited Queenstown to see the support her organisation is providing people on temporary visas in Queenstown.

On Wednesday 8 July I touched down in Queenstown. It was a relief to feel the buzz of the city centre, see restaurants full of people and hear the whir of jetboats heading out into Lake Wakatipu as Kiwi families and domestic tourists support Queenstown’s economic recovery.

My first visit to Queenstown was in 1994. I arrived as a young backpacker originally from Ireland. I have visited many times since, but that first visit was particularly influential to my eventual decision to immigrate to New Zealand.

Manaaki Manuhiri means to take care of, protect and give hospitality to a visitor or guest. This assistance follows on from the incredibly hard work of Civil Defence, Queenstown Lakes District Council and local agencies.

In just the past week that New Zealand Red Cross has been delivering Visitor Care Manaaki Manuhiri in Queenstown, our teams have met many wonderful people. Hard-working people who are now facing desperate circumstances.

I’ve been touched by the stories of these people that the team have shared with me. Some have flights booked home, and this support has relieved stress as they anticipate returning to their loved ones.

Others lost their jobs before lockdown and say they don’t want to think about where they would be without the vouchers they received.

Then there are those who are searching for work, having been here for several years, and hope that as tourism returns so too will work.

The people who migrate to Queenstown come from all around the world. While some visit for just a few days, there are many who settle for months or years. They work in cafes, hotels, ski lodges or tourism, local businesses and much more. Migrant workers are integral to the economic success of Queenstown and are a vital part of the community. In the wake of COVID-19, these are people who we must ensure also receive care and support.

Through the New Zealand Government’s Foreign Nationals Impacted by COVID-19 programme (known to us as Visitor Care Manaaki Manuhiri), New Zealand Red Cross is delivering support to meet the urgent and immediate needs of people on temporary visas (including work, student, Registered Seasonal Employer and visitor visa holders) who are experiencing hardship as a result of COVID-19.

Arts+Culture Cellists of Otago Cellists of Otago are back for one great night in the Arrowtown on August 8th. Like so many others the original concert was all lined up for 25th of March which had to be cancelled, and this is the first time we have had a chance to see them since then. Arrowtown Creative Arts Society will be presenting this concert at 6pm at The Atheneum. Tickets will go on sale soon.

Onboard Recycle Snowboard Exhibition This Exhibition is a collaboration of a variety of Artists throughout the Lakes District coming together to showcase their Recycled Snowboards into a work of Art. RenewArt It’s amazing that only a few short weeks ago the RenewArt community project was born during a Zoom brainstorming session with Trustees from the Three Lakes Cultural Trust around ‘ how can we help’ the arts & cultural community at a time when so many have been impacted by the pandemic.

A lot of the scheduled events were cancelled and this has been heartbreaking for many in our visual and performing arts community. These artists had invested a lot of their time, energy and creativity into preparing for these events that could not happen.

Moving quickly, funding applications were made, checkins with community leaders in the visual and performing arts sector, and put a plan in place.

The focus was on financially supporting artists, and doing something special for the whole community.

And now it’s all in place, the hard work has paid off and The Trust has secured commitments in excess of $150,000 to deliver the RenewArts events and reward selected artists from the Hugo Charitable Trust, Three Lakes Cultural Trust, Central Lakes Trust, Community Trust South, and Creative New Zealand.

Using the theme of ‘renewal,’ performing and visual artists can apply to a peer selection panel to receive financial support to create new work.

Those performing and visual artists selected will have approximately eight weeks to produce their works. Applications are open to residents across the Wakatipu basin and Upper Clutha, including Luggate, Lake Hawea, Albert Town, Wanaka, Cardrona, Makarora, Arrowtown, Queenstown, Gibbston, Glenorchy and Kingston.

The community will have the opportunity to engage with the visual and performing artists works in the series of free community events that will be held in Queenstown on Friday 9th and Saturday 10th October and in Wanaka on Thursday 15th and Friday 16th October 2020. It is hoped that these events will demonstrate that our artists and performers are resilient and determined to bounce back.

The Trust is proud to be providing this opportunity for our artists, who will be able to channel their passion and their experiences of the last few months into something spectacular, while simultaneously celebrating the renewal of the Queenstown Lakes arts and cultural sector.

Light Up Winter in Cromwell Cromwell, Otago – Join Cromwell in sending hundreds of lanterns floating into the night sky. This spectacle will again be part of the amazing Light Up Winter to be held in the Cromwell Mall on Saturday, 18 July 2020 from 4:30 – 8:30 pm.

“This year’s lantern release will be a beautiful moment for us to come together as a community to reflect on everything that has happened in the past few months,” says Gretchen Nightingale, Community Relationship Manager of the Cromwell & Districts Promotion Group (CDPG).

This will be the fourth year that Light Up Winter will transform The Mall in Cromwell into a winter wonderland with thousands of twinkling lights and beautiful window displays. The ever-popular magician, Jonathan Usher, will start the festivities at 4:30 pm, followed by the fabulous light fairies and fire dancers from Flame Entertainment.

“The highlight of the evening, as always, will be the mass lantern release from the Big Fruit reserve at 6 pm.”

Lanterns are still available and can be purchased from SBS Cromwell, or online by depositing $7 per lantern to the following account: Cromwell & Districts Promotion Group, 03 1369 0297988 01, using your name as the reference. There will be a limited amount of lanterns for purchase on the night for $10 each.

Queenstown band Victory will play out the rest of the evening while visitors enjoy the rest of the festivities including the Kids Craft Cave, Bedtime Stories, and photobooth.
