Concessions are available for cold drinks and snacks. Pool passes sold at Member Services in the Holcomb Building. Sweetbriar Pool features a diving board, slide and a wading pool with play equipment for small children.

NEW Fitness Center: Opening June 2019 Open Daily 5 AM-11 PM Visit the website for fee information. The NEW Fitness Center boasts a wide selection of equipment encompassing both cardio and strength training. There is also space for stretching or traditional mat work. Free equipment orientation by a professional trainer is available. Call 540-972-9680. Sign-up for a Membership at the Holcomb Building.

Walking Paths & Trails: There are many walking paths and roads in each section of LOW that are perfect for both walking and biking. There are also near by places for hiking. Our walking paths have been developed into Core Areas: Clubhouse/Main Marina, Sweetbriar Park, Greensprings Park, Spotswood Park, Golf Course and the various section roads.

Members utilize the various spaces at the community center for programs. Activities range from bridge and knitting to exercise and Pickleball. There is something for everyone, programs for all ages and interests. Board meetings are also held there. The Community Center offers space for clubs, programs and events.

We offer a seasonal campground for RVs and campers. The Campground has 12 camper sites and limited sites for tent camping. The Campground Pavilion is also available for use by groups for special events. Reservations are necessary, but no fee is charged.

Pickleball & Tennis Courts

540-972-9680 | WWW.LOWA.ORG/TENNIS LOW has both Pickleball & Tennis facilities at Hollyfield Park. Pickleball is also played indoors at the Community Center. Hours of Operation: 7 AM - 11 PM Pickleball: To play pickleball LOW members must pay either the daily or annual amenity fee. Courts must be reserved in advance. Keys for the courts or Community Center can be obtained at LOW Security near main gate. Tennis: To make tennis reservations, contact Alice Mote 540-424-8004. Court access priority is given to those with reservations. Keys available at security. All players must sign in on the tennis log.

Summer ActivitiesEvents & Concerts Junior Golf Camps

Summer Equestrian Camp:

Beginners Classes: July 8-12, July 22-26 and August 5-9 9 - 9:45 AM | Price $60 per student | Ages 7 to 15 Sign up & submit shirt sizes by June 25, 9 AM Golfers will learn putting, chipping, pitch shots, sand shots, irons and woods. Golfers will also learn the NEW Rules of Golf, etiquette and pace of play. Classes will meet for 45 minutes each day. During the beginner class, participants will receive a golf shirt, a certificate of completion and attend a party at Sweet Briar park on Friday afternoon. The first class will meet at the Pro Shop; all other classes will be held at Sweet Briar Park. Junior Camps will be posted on June 3 in the Pro Shop. Maximum 10 students per group. All players are eligible to attend the LOWA Junior Golf Championship /Junior Golf Tournament on Saturday, August 24 at 1:30 PM

Session 1 June 24-28 Session 2 July 1-5 Session 3 July 8-12 FULL Session 4 July 15-19 Session 5 July 22-26 Session 6 July 29 - August 2. Time: Daily 8:30 AM - noon Pony Camp is a hands-on experience for kids ages 6-12 who have an interest in horses and horseback riding. Each day, campers receive a one hour riding lesson in the lovely covered ring, a one hour horse care lesson, craft time, and snack time. On Thursdays, the campers go on a guided trail ride into the Battlefield Park! Each Friday family and friends are invited to the Camp Horse Show beginning at 10:30 AM. Campers will still arrive at 8:30 AM to prepare for the Horse Show. The Equestrian Center has helmets for campers to wear during lessons and our staff is trained on how to properly fit them. Campers must wear a hard-soled shoe or boot, no tennis shoes please. Send your campers with a water bottle, snack and anything that comes with them, including sunscreen. Pony Camp begins at 8:30 AM. Staff will be preparing the barn and horses for the campers’ positive experience before that time. Please do not arrive prior to 8:30 AM. Applications for Pony Camp are available at the Equestrian Center or online at www.LOWA.org/EquestrianCenter. Payment can be dropped off at Member Services, the Equestrian Center or mailed to Lake of the Woods Equestrian Center C/o Lake of the Woods Association 102 Lakeview Pkwy. Locust Grove, VA 22508. Advanced Class: August 19 -23 9 AM - 9:45 AM | Price $60 per student | Ages 7 to 15 Sign up by July 12, 9 AM This class will work on improving the various sections that new players need to improve. Classes are scheduled for 2 hours. We will have one class, limited to 6 students. For more information on beginner and advanced classes, contact the Pro Shop 540-972-2230

Water Fitness: Season Start Date Contingent on Opening of Clubhouse Pool Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays 11 AM and 11:45 AM | Season Pass $125 | Daily Drop-in Fee $7 Water Workouts are a high-energy, low impact, full body workout that is perfect for all fitness levels. Each class is 45 minutes and starts with warm-up movements, followed by stretching, cardio and a strengthening component using various equipment, which is provided. The final segment of the class is a relaxing cool-down. All classes are choreographed to music and, yes, singing along is encouraged. Registration will take place at 10:30 AM on the first day of class. Please bring a check made out to Carol Greeney with “water fitness” on the memo line. Children Swim Lessons: Private 30min. $ 30 | Private 60min. $ 50 Semi Private 4/30min. $210 for 2 children Group classes 8/30min. $120 for no more than 6 children Most children love to swim, and they often think that swimming lessons are just a good time. But they are more than just fun, swimming lessons teach children self-confidence and encourage physical fitness and will be available at the Sweetbriar Pool this summer. Early Sign-up Discount and Return Student Discount are available. Beginner Pickleball Lessons: Free beginner Pickleball lessons will be offered two Saturdays a month either in the Community Center or on the outdoor courts, weather permitting, to LOW residents aged 18 and above. Paddles will be provided. Please wear good athletic shoes, preferably court/tennis shoes. Dates and locations will be published in Lake Currents. For more info contact Dave 540-846-1613

LOW Tennis Juniors: The Tennis Committee and LOWA are planning a series of Tennis Clinics for various age groups. “Drills and Games” for LOW Tennis Juniors will be held this summer. The events will take place at Hollyfield Park, and will be overseen by players, volunteers and staff and led by the LOW Tennis Pro. Clinic time each day will be 10 – 11:30 AM, the 6-10 year olds will play June 6 & 7. The 11 year olds and up will play June 10 & 11. LOWSC Junior Sailing Camp: Beginner Camp June 24 - June 28 Advanced Camp July 1 - July 5. Both Camps 8 AM to noon | Ages 8-15 | Price $190 / camper Campers must be able to swim and interested in learning to sail or improve their sailing skills in a safety conscious, confidence building, and fun environment. We will be holding two camps this year. The first (Beginner) session is for those who have completed two years or less of our camps. The second (Advanced) camp is for those with more experience. All campers must wear a swimsuit and Coast Guard approved life jacket, a whistle, and closed-toe water shoes. Sunscreen is required and bottled water plus snacks are highly recommended. Registration: Sailing Camp application forms are available at the Holcomb Building or the Community Center. Completed application forms should be mailed to LOWSC, PO Box 1114, Locust Grove, VA 22508; payment is due upon receipt of the camp application to ensure your reservation; checks payable to LOWSC. Camp slots will be filled in order of receipt. Location: Camp is held near the boat racks at Sailboat Beach. For security reasons a parent or guardian is required to check in and later pick up their “sailor” at the check-in table. We hold class rain or shine.
