Meet the Board Candidates by Lisa McKinney, Elections Committee
The annual elections process is upon us with voting taking place to fill the three Board of Directors positions that will be open very soon. Board members Leighton Cumming, Jeff Johnson (their terms are expiring) and the position vacated by Larry Morlan’s resignation are the positions that will be open. In this issue of Lake Currents, you will find bios for those who are running for the open positions. You will also have the opportunity to watch their video interviews, where they answer questions from the Elections Committee, on Channel 18 and on LOWA.org. Also, the Candidate’s Forum is scheduled for August 5 from 4 to 6 PM in the Community Center. This is your opportunity to ask the candidates questions, with
President's letter 2 Association News 2-10 CARC Update 3 General Manager's Column 3 Candidate Bios 5-7 Calendar 9-10 Viewpoints 16 Orange County 21 Classifieds 22-23
each candidate answering the same question. The candidates will need to answer in a two-minute time frame. Please remember that no personal attacks will be allowed or tolerated. The Elections Committee will be reviewing and approving the questions before the moderator is allowed to present them. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to email the Elections Committee at election@LOWA.org. Ballots will be mailed out at the end of July, and will be accepted up until close of the annual Member’s meeting to be held September 3 at 10 AM. The goal of the Elections Committee is to have 1,500 members sign up and vote via electronic voting. Currently there are 1,000 members signed up, so we have a little way to go to reach our goal. Please help.
